FIFA 14 on PS4 surprised me.

I wish they would start adding the authentic MLS stadiums. :/

NHL franchise is really good as well.

Madden is the problem child.

NHL is good, but alas... didn't make launch so I didn't mention it. They could royally screw up the next gen version, but I'm hoping not.
 
fifa UT is always my most played title. so got it digitally

i use alt controls, and on D i switch tackelt to the x button, and bring teammate contain over to square. normal contain i just hide away on R1 and forget about it
 
And as always this game shines in Full Manual mode. No more L1+Triangle autogoal.
Don't be afraid to add me on PS4 for some full manual games.

Isn't the FIFA 14 download under 10GB, like NBA Live 14, meanwhile NBA2K14 is 30GB plus.

You can see the difference in the visual quality too. Being an annualised franchise, I'll wait for FIFA 15 to have my first "proper" next-gen experience.
 
I was surprised by how much better it looks and plays as well, but let's not compliment EA too much or they'll never fully upgrade the engine to next gen.

Honestly, anybody who has this complaint probably isn't configuring their defenses and/or manually playing conservative enough to avoid drawing their defenders off their lines.

There are a ton of reasons to hate FIFA but this one ain't the best one. The game does too much artificial crap to reduce the success of lobbed through balls on top of there being plenty of strategy settings available that should really help you defend against this style of play.
 
I played the xbox one version and its smooth and fluid. the little details make the game so much better then last gen versions.

It is trash and a pretty garbage game. They have all the pieces to make a good football game and they spoil it with the horrible gameplay that does not even resemble real football. Keys to Success in Fifa:
1) L1 + X 2-3 times
2)L1 + Triangle
3) Shoot

Repeat till the game ends.

Must say, the animation are very very good, so convincing ( minus the sliding you see from time to time) Things like shooting, goal keepers saving a shot and general passing just looks very good.

Graphically, looks great but nothing amazing ( unless you do instant replay and get to see the smaller detail)

Thanks for posting this - I was just going to respond with that information. I reviewed the game a few weeks ago, and there's little else in sports gaming that's as enjoyable as player career in FIFA.

I said it was a pretty garbage game but i play a different way. Can i do that and win? Yes because honestly, i'm the best but thats not the way i play. I was just explaining the most overused tactic in the game and the reason it is overused is because the game is broken.
 
Fifa 14 is actually really good. Glad I waited for ps4 version. First time in ages it feels like more than a roster update. Some of the details are really nice (visually) but also the updates to the physics are definitely noticeable; Dribbling now feels very natural and realistic for example.

No. I've had plenty of free kicks. Quite easy to win penalties, too ;)

Oh most are from me performing tricks and them mistiming - which is quite realistic - but some aren't. I've had a couple where they've deliberately held me back when on the break, for example. It's more evident than '13 for sure, but I suppose still not really enough clumsy challenges, no.
 
Has anyone experienced graphics glitches on the PS4 version?

Every few minutes the screen went wonky on my copy, but when you pause and come back it's fine. The glitch caused an exaggerated double vision effect that makes it impossible to tell what's going on.
 
Sports simulations live and die by their feature-set. Launch games strip features, especially sports titles. So it's difficult to recommend ever getting one at launch. Even Forza has fallen victim to the stripped features at launch disease.

Yeah these games look really pretty but after the graphics "wow factor" is gone, it's those deep features that you start to miss. Year 2 is when you're in the clear on sports games on a new generation.
 
I got the demo on XB1 last night and i wasnt impressed at all. It looks a bit sharper than the Fifa's on X360 but it just didnt look that great. The jump with NBA2k14 looked much more impressive, but i guess that is because there are fewer players and the court is a lot smaller so you can zoom in. Though TBH, i thought NBA2K on X360 looked pretty amazing anyway.
