Fight Night 360 interview and screens

As is the same in all sports, there is a reason Yankess vs. Red Sox is a much bigger game than Pirates vs. Brewers. In game, we make sure the person playing the game has a built-up relationship with the boxers they fight in the big fights. We do this by giving people videos that show how their rival's career is progressing, give people information on when you might fight them, and really build up the fight to be a special event during the course of your career.

We also do things in the actual fighting to emphasize this as well. For instance, at the big weigh-in press conference, sometimes fights break out even before the fight in the ring. Then, once in the ring, there is special AI as well as customized fighting tactics your rivals will use. During the course of the game, you build up an emotional anger towards your rivals that really puts a purpose behind the fight and a purpose behind every punch in the ring.

There is also also an ESPN Classics mode that lets you relive the greatest rivalry fights in boxing history. The cool thing is that the biggest rival fights in your career become “ESPN Instant Classics” so you can also relive the biggest rivalry fights that happen in the game as well.

All of the great historical rivalries can be played in our ESPN Classics mode. But again, one of the really cool features here is being able to relive your own classic rivalry fights from all your career modes!

You probably already saw the screens in the other thread, but I dont give a damn!

Looks awesome. But I'm no fan of screens at a higher resolution than the console supports :/

Also, emotional anger? We don't need a gimmick to ruin Fight Nights gameplay balance.

Still don't understand why it's so difficult to get the whole crowd watching the action, instead of a fixed position to look at. Still, looks awesome though. I like their shoes.

The lighting/sweat on their backs reminds me of the PS3 Tekken teaser.

On the other hand the backgrounds and the overall texture resolution remind me NOT of the PS3 Tekken teaser. Or any PS3 title for that matter.

Which is why I only pointed out their backs ;)

Tekken PS3 teaser had backgrounds?

1) Resolution is 2,44 times bigger than the biggest output resolution of Xbox 360. WTF EA?
2) Environment looks like shit and also the spectators (With "s" because there are enough... 2)
3) How are they going to manage to put those players in a ring surrounded of crowd with the same amount of detail? Will the game only feature training mode?
4) Is the game coming with 16x AA like in these shots?

Conclusion: Don't think ever the game is going to look like this. Gimme some in-game shots and less training-mode workstation renders EA bitches.

What the F*CK is up with devs releasing massively over-sized screenshots? Jesus, I understand why they did it with 640x480 games last gen...but COME ON, 1280x720 is plenty high enough. I suppose if we're talking print mags here, larger shots can come in handy...but for internet publications, there is no reason to be releasing shots of that size.

I thought we were going to be leaving over-sized shots in the past this gen...but I guess not.

Actually the last three screens were at a 10000xsomething resolution. Just displaying it almost killed my firefox.
These are the type of resolution used for a 600 dpi covershot I guess.

the classic video has a fairly full arena.. and the framerate seems smooth still. needs more spectator variety, but its early still

I'm sorry, have we seen many actual, playable PS3 titles yet, or did I miss something?

Anyhow, I totally heart the Fight Night series and can't wait to get my hands on Round 3 in February. Let's hope they don't drop the ball when it comes to the online play this time around.

These models look amazing. Funny how we are down to complaining about the vertical rope, the spectators, and then comparing in-game assets to a pre-rendered CG movie. The trailer looks good, models look good, and EA has an interesting idea with the HUD-less play. I can't wait to see this once it's finished up.

i would say this looks good but

A. The animation looks totally shitty.
B. Fight Night round 2 sucked.

I can't get over how bad the animation in that video is.

Looked better at E3. The models were more fluid and the animation didn't look so canned.

Fight Night is the only "fighting" game I still enjoy. I pushed myself to master total punch control and I gotta say it works flawlessly. The ragdoll KO's are great, although I loved the first fight night where the animation got stuck on the ropes and you could clobber the guy like 10 times before the countdown started.

The whole THING was canned at E3, it was a tightly controlled and animated sequence rather than separate animations being called upon as they would be in gameplay.
