LOL MLG blowup for SCV

Concerning the new rule that MLG decided to apply and was announced to the players before the TOP4 : Me and the SCV players at MLG disagree, we have been trying to understand it and we still think it's not logic.
It's just not normal to have TWO people from Losers bracket, to be in Grand Finals. Keev had to play Lolo normally since they're both from Winners, and it was supposed to be the Winners finals. And Ramon and Xeph were supposed to make the Losers Finals. But MLG decided to change the rule and make 2 GRAND FINALS. Which doesnt make sense because it means that 2 players from Losers both can be TOP2 by winning their Grand Finals.
So we had : Keev (winnes bracket) VS Ramon (Losers) & Lolo VS Xephukai.
Of course, Ramon and Xeph had to win 6 matches whereas the one from winners have to win 3. But still, it just doesn't make sense to have two grand finals. At the end, the winners of the two Grand Finals fight for one last Grand Finals and it's first to 4 for both, that you are from winners or losers.
Instead of losing to two different players, Keev and Lolo both lost to only one person. They didnt have a Losers bracket.

We all agree here that rule is bad and unfair. They made this rule to Starcraft2 before, and everybody complained so they stopped. Why are they doing that to the fighting games now ? It's still a rule that doesn't make sense.

This rule is so "lol?".

lol counter picking Viper against Dieminion's Guile is like trying to counter pick Sagat against Justin's Rufus.

Silly Flash

EDIT: and you won the 2nd game with Sakura...

Haha.
Not that I'm big into Schadenfreude, but watching Wolfkrone lose is like watching Philip Rivers throw an interception.
I just can't get enough of it...

Extended series makes sense in any double elimination tournament where the games can take a long time. Obviously, that isn't fighting games, but last I recall the MLG people are pretty adamant about having contiguity between games in tournament format.

Except that when the other guy needs to win, say, 6 matches to win the set, it actually takes more time than it would as two individual sets.

No they don't, they're bad for fighters, bad for starcraft and bad for lol. It's just a shitty rule that they lazily ported from Halo.

Extended series exists because of the following:

Player A and B meet in winners bracket:

A wins their match 3-0.

A and B meet again in grand finals.

B wins 3-2, to reset the bracket.

B wins again, 3-2.

Between the two players, the overall score is A's 7 to B's 6. Player A won more games, but lost the series because Player B got his wins later in the matches. There's an argument to be made saying that the later matches are worth more because both players are more familiar with eachother, but personally, I think it's bullshit.
