Ono talking about trying to get a new fighting game started. Probably has to convince Capcom

I always feel like Ono trying to "convince Capcom" is usually more of a marketing tease from Ono.

But just from the nature of this, I don't think so. For the record, I want this from Capcom more than even a new Marvel or SF. I want to see what happens when you put Neo_G, Ono and/or Niitsuma onto a blank slate without mechanical/traditional baggage.

Ono should take over Darkstalkers. At least then I'll pay attention to it.

EDIT: Wait, is it him or Nitsuma that is working on it already?
Most likely Ono since Niitsuma is probably working on prototypes ATM.

I've also changed my stance on PSAll-Stars. I got to play it during New Year's with a couple of friends, and despite the character selection it's good fun. I hope it sees more tournament life.

Timer matches, much like in Smash Bros, are the worst.

It's gotta be next-gen (and in the case of DS4, almost certainly an Arcade release as well) for whatever Ono/Niitsuma work on next.

I think he's got to be working on something. Most corporations dont have people sitting idle and paid.
That's what Sven said. People don't sit around and do nothing. He's probably prototyping (working on something that isn't greenlit yet), or assisting where need be.

What do you guys think the chances are the 720 or PS4 will release with a fighting game at launch? And if so, from who?

Capcom (today) seems like the type to wait a few months to a year into a gen before they release stuff, I believe this was the case this gen, and with the Wii U they're saying that they're looking towards the future before committing anything to the platform. With both Capcom and Namco however, I feel like they'll do if it means it'll line up nicely with an existing development cycle and allow cheap ports, which I think is the case right now. Maybe more likely for Namco. Sega... is in a bad place right now. I don't think ASW would be able to commit to new platforms that easily.

PS4/720 will launch with Tekken X Street Fighter, calling it now.
I think it's very, very likely considering Harada's comments, how they've just wiped their hands clean of TTT2, how many assets + an engine they have to work with already to CTRL+V SF characters into, and how they've already been doing preliminary work for how long. A year should be enough for that, and to allow them to use all the fancy next gen tech to make their game look wow in comparison to what we have on aging hardware.

Provided Nintendo doesn't hoard all their teams.

I think Capcom is more than likely to give HD versions of games like the Alpha series and Power Stone to satisfy the FGC till they are ready for a retail game.

Ono.

Sven said Niitsuma isn't working on anything recently.
No, he said Niitsuma hasn't been working on anything that has been green lit. Big difference. Niitsuma is likely working on something "iffy" at Capcom. You know, like Fighters of Capcom.

they love me for who i am <3
Easy there, Tiger. This is FGC land. The anime thread is that way! *points at community*

I'll catch up in a few

Doesn't sound like you have any love for the series at all.

Some obscure release in Japan for the PS4 maybe.

A year ain't enough for a game they need to get absolutely right the first time. Tekken is a long tail series anyway. Two years of sales and EVO tournaments is just right for the Tekken series. Mid 2014 is the earliest we'll see a playable TxSF.

SF4 took til 09 to come out, so 3 years into the gen. Considering fighting games aren't in the dark ages anymore, I think we'll see our first fighting games from Capcom... next year? 2015 at the latest.

Street Fighter 5 as a launch title would get me in line for whatever system it would be on... and with an arcade stick for it too... wont happen but one can dream ;)!

I wonder if the current gen controllers with standard as fuck usb connections will work with next gen consoles.

Solar going full Anime? :p
3D>2D, but I may change my avatar to something new. Probably something from Joshiraku or Nichijou if I ever get around to doing that.
If you look at the overall history of people trying to get things greenlit at Capcom, you'd know that's not a idle comment.
Yeah, I wonder how many people read the Eurogamer article. It is clear that few people with a sense of history remain at Capcom. Nothing is sacred and money is king. He practically had to fight tooth and nail for one of their three most recognized series. Getting anything not SF or Marvel(where they can stick in SF characters) for the fighter genre must be a nightmare of epic proportions.
