When will Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers be discontinued?

Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers can be purchased until 11:59 PM Pacific Time, January 30, 2026. Each Nintendo Switch Game Voucher remains valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

How long will my Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers be valid?

Someone fill me in. Is Nintendo and Microsoft having a race to see who can be the most anti-consumer gaming company in 2025?

These vouchers are not very pro consumer. They don't apply to all games and then expire if you don't use them. So basically they lock you into giving them money and you end up buying older games you don't want.

on Nintendo switch, i am more into digital these days , its a good time to stock up nintendo switch game vouchers during December 2025
Pokemon Legends ZA is 7100yen on the eshop , its a good deal for nintendo switch game vouchers at 9980yen

- They opened the floodgates towards $80 games
- They got rid of Nintendo Select titles that used to go on sale after they sold a certain amount of copies for a game
- They are getting rid of digital Game Vouchers
- The have effectively killed real physical games on the Switch 2 with the introduction of Game Key Cards releases
- They jacked up the price of their Switch 2 accessories so much that a Joy Con 2 set cost over $100 here in Chicago
- First manufacturer to add a button to their controller that becomes completely useless if you're not signed up to their Online Subscription
- Refuses to put their games on sale because consumers must "Respect the value"

This is what happens when you got a bunch of suits/bank people in charge of the company who by their own admission don't play video games and refuse to show their face outside investor calls.

I wonder if Iwata would be rolling in his grave if he saw what happened to Nintendo now.

In the entire lifespan of switch I have never used the vouchers even once. They always seemed pointless as they lock you into a system where if you don't use it you eventually lose it.

the savings weren't even that amazing. Most titles outside of Nintendo's own stuff is hardly wallet breaking.

They'll probably return in some new form tailored for the switch 2 ecosystem.

They pretty much only did that when the consoles stopped selling, at least in the recent years.

The Wii started it in 2011 after the sales of the console collapsed. They did it with the Wii U in 2016 when it was barely selling anyway, and same with the 3DS which struggled to sell most of its lifetime. In comparison, the DS never got a Selects line as well.

Not really surprising. This was the equivalent of their greatest hits line. Introduced towards the tail end of Switch 1. I'm shocked it went on as long as it did. Basically 1 sale that lasted for several years.

They'll probably bring back something similar around 2029.

I was looking at it this weekend and I don't think it was really that great. Most of the titles eligible for the voucher were on sale for less than the voucher value. I guess if you're really wanting a couple of games right now and they're not on sale you could save like $10 each but physical prices are often the same or less than a voucher.

I think Nintendo introduced these to promote their eShop since so many Nintendo fans and families prefer physical releases, but nowadays this extra incentive probably isn't necessary anymore. And they've cranked up their prices significantly too, of course. Sad to see them go because they saved me a pretty penny on new releases. Hopefully they'll introduce some new deal, but I highly doubt it.

These never appealed to me personally. When almost all of the eligible games are $60, you're saving a whole $10 a game by locking yourself into the eshop?

You'll save as much if not more waiting for one of Nintendo's pathetic 20% off eShop sales, let alone retail discounts. So, unless you were dying to play two games that were full price, or you're just one of those people who don't manage their money well and buy games full price despite your backlogs, they just don't make much sense.

I actually had just remembered about these the other night thinking I could take some of the sting out of the new $70+ Switch 2 games, but wouldn't you know it, they don't work for Switch 2 titles.

My voucher expires at the end of Sept, is there a way to make stay for longer? I need it for MP4...

Plz Nintendo release it on September!!!!!!!
