This is why I'll probably never get to play a One Piece game.
I decided the chances of me every reading / watching enough of One Piece to catch up was remote, so just decided to dive into the weekly SJ issues and fuck spoilers.
This is why I'll probably never get to play a One Piece game.
And nothing will be lost.
Is that what you truly think?
Anybody who thinks that these popoffs are representative of the scene as a whole arent worth bothering with. Caring more about popoffs over the well being of the community...really? If thats what you think this scene has become maybe you should spend less time immersed in popoff news. We have people of all colors ages and backrounds playing together at tons of tournaments and these incidents dont happen all the time. Who cares about the people that think angry popoffs are what the scene is all about?
Or some scenes have better press.
I think it's pretty undeniable that tolerance is a problem in the FGC. People getting passes for being friends with the TO, TOs accepting back repeat offenders under the pretense that they will learn instead of making a hard call, etc. Its a negative byproduct of the intimacy in the scene that we all love. That and we already have targets on our heads because FGs didn't slip immediately into the mould of RTS and MOBA games and blow up.Maybe some scenes police themselves better.
If you think that stories about , for example, neogaf help funding Q to get to his first Evo is gonna gain traction on shit like WSHH or anywhere else then you been fooled yourself. At some point you just gotta do you and say fuck it to all that kinda shit. We also had many pages of last weeks thread talking about the last two tournaments and DaiGOAT so to say that this community only cares about drama is bullshit. The reason why that was discussed to that extent here is because one person here was personally involved with the incident and had an opinion not many agreed with. You read my post right?
The problem is what's actually representative of the scene as a whole doesn't get the attention elsewhere. It's the negative that does.
I'm not immersed in popoff news, but if you think I'm wrong, just look at how many pages and responses are dedicated to it in this thread and how it's now turned into a meme. It's everyone else that loves it and can't wait for the next WSHH moment to happen.
What I feel is that the community should pay attention overall to detrimental behavior and how the community is represented because it does have an impact. It's not just about this one incident.
sick lets get rich together
Damn. Lately I been hearing a lot about friends dealing out shitty situations. Not sure what to say. That sucks. Best advice I can give is suck it up, swallow your pride and ask him if his friend will also let you crash there considering he's the one that got you into this mess. Or you can just do what me and a buddy usually do at long distance cons: go there, do your shit, leave, find a bar or an arcade or somewhere that's open late to hang out at for a while, then crash in the car at the parking lot of a place that's open 24/7 like Walmart haha. This method is really only enjoyable if there's more than one person involved though :/
Late on this but if you guys don't bring me into the fold I'll be super sad
When I went to UFGT, I posted on SRK asking if anyone wanted to split a room. Posting there and/or on Smashboards might be a good option for you.So apparently I have no place to stay at for APEX since my friend blabbered about all of us staying in a hotel room or at a friend's house and the hotel room ain't happening for him. Additionally, he's the only one staying at the friend's house so I bought my ticket that might go to waste if I don't have anywhere to stay at, I don't have enough money to pay for a hotel room by myself, jobless for now. When I mentioned it to him yesterday he avoided eye contact with me as much as he could, knowing the only reason I bought the ticket is cause he mentioned we could stay somewhere, got pretty awkward when I brought it up to him and acted like he didn't know anything. Since he already has a place to stay at, he couldn't care less where I'm at when they didn't even bat at eye when I told them I had nowhere to stay and he was the one telling me to go. I would commute, if it wasn't 2-3 hours to get there... where did I go wrong in my plans? I should have probably talked to the other guy (the one letting the hypeman who got me to buy the tickets stay at his place) next time and see if this guy is BSing or not. I was really excited for APEX since its the second tournament I would have ever gone too, tournaments rarely happen in NY and NJ is once a year but now that dream is almost dead. Hell I couldn't even stay the entire time at DTN cause I didn't have a place to stay at and it was also 2 hours to get there. Any opinions to my situations? I honestly don't know how to feel cause if I left my negative emotions get the best of me, I would call the living shit out the guy who pretty much made me waste my money.
Edit:
Horrible english, too lazy to edit.

This is essentially the issue with the "Take it to SRK!" method of trying to deal with a local problem- it's a local problem. NYC != LA != AFGC != DMV - they're all different, and although macro-issues will always be present (due to it featuring a lot of young immature guys), if there's a specific thing happening, you have to address it within your community.Maybe some scenes police themselves better.

I don't play One Piece games cause they don't use the Funimation cast.
I like the Funimation cast.
Youre not wrong at all, your point about the meme coming from it and people loving it is right. Admittedly I love popoff moments as well...when they are the result of a really good game or some backstory coming to a head. If they are unwarranted and just naked agression I dont think thats good clearly, but you cant have a pristine care bear scene all the time. Its unfair to the people, especially when so much good is done regularly. Dont you enjoy popoffs? When Sanford threw his stick? Or even the Viscant LowTierFraud thing? Maybe its my inner manchild that loves wrestling drama but I suspect everyone enjoys popoffs. If people on the outside focus on only the negatives I think thats on them. Its also a game rooted in 1v1 competition, so its always going to have its popoff moments. You read my post right?

Hahaha that Mickey D's shit is exactly the kinda shit my friend'll joke about. But man best of luck to ya. STRUGGLE IS REEEEAL.
Best anime ever.
No. This is, like it always is, more about people wanting to grind their own axes. This isn't about hype vs the Lance Storm school of charisma. This is about disrespect vs respect
Yipes is smart/nice enough to do hype without just being disrespectful towards folks. (I'm sure Yipes could twist the dagger if he wanted to though)
This isn't about hype vs the Lance Storm school of charisma. This is about disrespect vs respect
I mean, disrespect is in rare occasions, like Viscant vs LTG grudge matches , not too bad, but in random public situations, shouldn't be encouraged ever.
Wtf are you guys even talking about?
I guess this is better than having to read 10 pages of people listing off what games are going to be in Evo.
Also why did Kimo and Blackule get banned? They didn't even do anything.
Please elaborate on why they quit. I can name many people that I know entered the scene in 09/10. We all cant act like Ned Flanders but overall the scene is far more welcoming than unwelcoming. The nature of the game and competition Iitself isnt always welcomiing and inviting but as far as the people go they are generally cool.If trying to make a community more welcoming is grinding an axe, give me Mad Axes.
I'm sick of having friends quit and feel uncomfortable. SIck enough where I'm voting with my wallet in some cases.
Serebii.net: "the next batch of information for the upcoming game Pokkén Tournament is to come on January 23rd within the Weekly Famitsu Featuring online series on NicoNico."

I've been loving the Steam release of Ultra Street Fighter 4. Been playing it basically since 10am today. My C.Viper and Cammy are actually doing big things.

Speaking of unsafe places Twitter just recommended that I follow akiman and dammit that feed is NSFW.

I love the times he gives other artists spotlight or he drops one of his gems from his vault of Capcom goodies, but damn does it make it hard to sneak in Twitter anywhere professionally when "that" kind of art gets going. Sure it's mostly high quality technically, but the subject matter would leave someone jobless in a heart beat. :lol

To the point where you do things like talk shit for weeks on end about how unorganized TFC is before the event happens and how you're boycotting it because it's going to flop and be terrible, only to have egg on your face afterward when it seems to go off without a hitch and most everyone has a good time. But shooting from the hip on subjects you're not even remotely informed on is just something that you do, and I'm certain that it's plainly obvious to any regular in this thread.I'm sick of having friends quit and feel uncomfortable. SIck enough where I'm voting with my wallet in some cases.
lol! That's a lot of information given. All I can say is:
Who batch this is?
He's so confused he forgot how to grammar. But he had enough awareness to tech dat grab irl tho.Well it's funny just because of how confused he looks
