Yeah, Jailhouse won the NLBC qualifier for SFxT but couldn't go. Apparently that was because he couldn't get a passport though.

I know they used other majors not mentioned here as qualifiers too. Tommy Wafflez from GGA qualified by winning MK9 at Final Round - oh yeah, and apparently didn't get his ticket until the past day or two lmao
 
What was that tournament where the organizer ran off with the money which caused Jebaily to create CEO in 2010? GAAMES?

Maybe with VxG dropping the ball the FGC will get CEO: Da Beech Edition, no?
 
I think it's pretty well-known that I'm a VxG hater but even I assumed they would pull through with a lot of their promises. Sucks to hear people are getting screwed over.

I kinda wonder if their funding got lowered or something recently because it does seem like they've been throwing around way less money and stuff lately.
 
You know, I wonder if last minute planning is just de rigueur operating procedure in the Carribean. Maybe its just the way they conduct business.

It was GAMME. Made big promises and scammed some people out of money, then fell apart when people started asking questions.

It's bad enough that there's people who are already distrustful of the event, then you have various things happen in the past few weeks that put the event in more of a negative light, and now this. It's a shame, but I'm not surprised. There's still no real money in fighting games yet.

But I'd be mad as hell if I was someone who was supposed to be flown out, then see this on Twitter.

Jailhouse was waiting for solid plans from them to pick up his passport which, by the time they actually gave him some proper info, was too late.

Nah, it wasn't too late. He had plenty of time since he only needed a passport renewal. Triforce was live on some guy's stream when Jailhouse posted his grievance. The streamer brought it up and Triforce addressed it live with Jailhouse in the chat.

Basically, if Jailhouse really wanted to go to VxG he had plenty of time to get his passport renewed and if he wasn't going to VxG, it's his own damn fault.

They need to find some way to get more visibility. Send the lastest stable version to one of the big sites or something. Video game sites love 3rd Strike shit and 2D retro looking things. I'm sure Kotaku, Joystiq, or one of the other blog sites could easily come up with a click bait title that plays to people's nostalgia. They could also attempt to cut a new trailer pimping the new stretch goals and maybe concept art shots of the proposed extra characters. 'Course that would cost time and money that the team might not have.

They could try their best to get it featured on stream during tournaments (although I can't think of many that happen in the next 21 days). Whether as a commercial of the trailer or a brief exhibition. I assume they can't be flying people out to set up casual stations for attendees to check the game out at the tournaments themselves. Fans of the game could pimp it themselves at locals and whatnot by bringing their laptops with them.

I suppose they could also ask someone like Spooky to stream dudes at Next Level trying the game out.

If they were really smart they should have got in contact with J Wong while he was still in Japan and have asked him to play a set with Daigo. Record that along with a little recreation of EVO moment #37. Video game sites would have eaten that shit right up. Might have even managed a top spot on the front page of Reddit's /r/gaming or /r/games.

That doesn't really go against what I'm saying though. In the end Jailhouse didn't go because of his passport but why didn't he renew it? Going by the post that was deleted later, it was because he was waiting for solid info from VxG and Triforce about it. He didn't want to renew until he knew he was set to go.

Going by what's happening with VxG right now, that sounds about right. It seems like whoever's doing the budgeting work for St Maarten is doing a pretty horrible job of it. Doesn't sound like Rolando has much he can do about it either because it seems like it's an issue with the Tourism Board and their members.
 
Sad to hear about some dudes promised a trip but not being delivered one.

A couple months ago I entertained the idea of going, and somehow through a process of finding a convenient time off, I was actually able to attend. But even I got the same basic airfare/room discount as everyone else. So I'm taking a vacation, but it costs as much as a vacation does.

The VXG guys have been super nice so far, even upgraded myself and my wife to a VIP status for the island in exchange for some commentary assistance.

Well, Rolando gave him solid info a week before EVO, three weeks before VxG, asking for his information including his passport #. You could say it was last minute but he still had time to renew his passport.

When Triforce was addressing Jailhouse's grievance live, the chat was just blowing Jailhouse up. That's why he deleted the thread.
 
It'd be interesting if KBR decided to start using Shuma seriously. He could probably substitue mystic ray for Sentinel's
rocket punch assist without much change in his combos. Weaker DHCs maybe?

Oh, then everyone has super jumps in that game? I never realized that. Didn't see one person do that when I was trying the game for the first few weeks of its release.

Interesting that they decided to give her one in USF4. Well in the build they were playing in the new trailer anyways.

Oh, I missed that question.

Yeah. She can't high jump because it's a system mechanic but she does have a different jump arc in SFxT to fit her character and to mimic it a bit.

3 weeks out is a bit rough for even a passport renewal, depending on season. Last time I renewed it was about 3 or 4 weeks before I got mine back, as I recall. However, I was overseas at the time.

I assume chat was blowing him up on that point but fail to talk about why JH wasn't getting the info earlier. Any sane planner would get it set as soon as possible.
 
High jump isn't the same as a super jump

Pre-jump frames are the same, but the actual airborne duration for many characters is slightly different than during a regular jump. High jumps will also have a (very) slightly different jump arc. High jumps require 7 frames of landing recovery instead of 4, though it’s still the first 2 frames that leave you vulnerable if an attack was used in mid-air. If no attack is performed while high jumping, the 7 landing recovery frames can be canceled by blocking as during a regular jump.
There is a minor visual cue signaling a high jump: the dust poof generated by the jumping character is larger.
