I mean if you're going to somehow turn the barbell curl into a compound movement through jerking/ego lifting(I'm assuming) then I could see how you would think he's wrong.

SolarPowered comment was vague enough that he can't be wrong tbh. It's not really terribly specific. That doesn't mean that what he said isn't sound advice. Eating to meet your goals and using proper form is good afvice, just not pointed.

Dude, it's a matter of perspective. Your anterior deltoids, brachialis, wrist extensors, et al, assist in the movement and the isolation aspect comes from focusing on the contraction of the biceps at the peak and stretching/tearing them during the eccentric phase. But those other muscles have to do useful, physical work, that costs energy, in helping you get the bar from point A to B, unless you're lifting featherweights. Once you go up in weight, your core muscles (of which there are a lot of) are forced to engage to stabilize you - kind of like a squat. You don't have to "jerK" or "ego-lift" for this to be true.

Most exercises work like this. There's truly no such thing as "Isolation Exercises" or "Movements", it's only a useful way of simplifying distinctions among weight lifters/athletes. There's really just degrees of compound motions. Working smaller muscles in an exercise generally require less synergist and stabilizer muscles to perform. A muscle can contract on its own, but movement requires working with other muscles.

Most black? Nah that's Sigmmah.

This is true. He's probably chillin' in my closet with the lights off right now, and I wouldn't have a clue.

but why even approach and incorporate curls from a compound perspective? it's superior when applied as an isolation exercise. obviously there are synergists, but if you want compound value on top of hitting your biceps you could do something better, such as (weighted) pull-ups.

Now imagine if you'd have considered that from the beginning.

Why not? People cage themselves when it comes to fitness. There's no such thing as a "superior exercise" if that superior exercise doesn't fit your personally defined fitness goals.

I do pull ups all day AND I do straight bar curls. I don't stay in one lane. I try to challenge as many areas of my fitness as I can, and it's not always about trying to make muscles bigger and stronger (and sometimes it is).

Don't mind him, it's an isolation movement. Nobody thinks to themselves, "hmmm my anterior delts and wrists are lagging, I'll go do some curls!". It's a bicep exercise lol. Pull ups is a compound movement that incorporates biceps though.

Yes, because that's the ONLY reason I'd want to take a compound approach with my biceps. Typical meathead shit.

Don't mind me, no, Immortal's Instagram link will be in his next post so you can ignore all these inconvenient facts.

Yeah, that's about as much of an admittance of stupidity as any so....

Yes! Smash is THE compound fighting game!

If you're talking about Melee, of course.

Arcsys you're doing it. You're really achieving something there. I don't know what you're achieving, but you're getting there.

Man fitness ain't this serious dudes. Even though I personally would never curl in the rack, I wouldn't get a hissyfit over someone curling a lot of weight in the rack. As long as the person curling is doing a high enough weight that they can't do the curls elswhere, there's no need to waste energy getting mad at someone.

Okay, so you really don't know what the you're talking about, either.

Just wanted to make that clear. There's a fitness professional posting in this thread and it's not the guy with the instagram groupies.

Maybe I should post pictures of myself so everyone will agree with everything I say.
Pictures and job titles are not as important as facts. I don't really mind what you say, but don't be so haughty about it. Congrats on having a photo worthy bod, I guess.

You both have different lifting philosophies in that regard. You could look like Phil heath, nobodies going to agree with you cuz you're still wrong.

I'm being this way because people got internet reps to protect. I don't need hours long arguments where no one will change their minds.
Oh man, Jack-o's win pose has a lotta booty
