i think smash was a game that warranted a stray from the standard.
because timed/items on is uh....not very uhh....skill dependent? well it is in a sense if that's what you trained with, but the higher percentile didn't train that way.
but alas i can see the arguments for and against items on.
EDIT: i didnt know kadey was a girl period. if i would have known, i would have acted more appropriately when she bodied me on sf4. and by that i mean i would hold my pinky up while playing.

You have no gotdamn idea, and the drama was mainly from the Smash community itself.
The idea was laughed at when it was introduced, but when rational people from both sides looked at the ruleset (some items were still banned, like the Stopwatch which could lead to inifinites, among other things), people who were actually going to...you know, PLAY, warmed up to it.
Cue the bitching from the other side of the Smash Community. They were so up in arms about how EVO was "going out of their way to spite them" by using this ruleset (and not the "correct" ruleset that the Smash Community used) that some people actually went and tried to boycott the event. Naturally, me and my friends went to EVO and had a blast, while the naysayers stayed home with their arms crossed. I nearly made it out of my pool too, but SK92 put an end to my run.

what are some stereotypes you have gathered from your stint in fightan gaems?
it can be any aspect at all. from specific games/characters/series/players/nationalities etc.
For example, i expect any goth type character in a fighting game to be eccentric and have guitar riffs in their stages before i even see them.
I expect any character that has a bow tie to be some sort of enforcer or bodyguard.
any character with gloves and a big upper body to be a speedy grappler.
I expect any character with a scar across the nose to be a spunky guy who actively looks for fights.
if i see a female player go for any character OTHER than Chun-li, i expect to get my ass kicked.
