Well I know who I'm playing

Well I know who I'm playing

I was watching ShinKensou's stream and he actually pretty sick from what I saw. He plays like Chen from KOF because the arcs of throwing the fruit is similar while also having those belly flops. The most badass thing about him though is that HIS MOTHERFUCKING RAGING DEMON IS STRAIGHT OUT OF FRUIT NINJA.

ShinKensou also had one of the top female players on his stream (Strawberry is her name I believe) and she pretty much bodied everyone from what I saw. I'm interested in trying out Ell Blue and the Bruce Lee guy.

Also anyone play melty? You can pm me if you want to get some matches using cccaster, since I'm new to the game and would like to get some more player experience.

MOTHERFUCKERS BETTER BEWARE OF THE CHAIR. THEIR ASS ABOUT TO GET RENOVATED.

oh, also something something salt salt in the sg thread you guys should troll, make yourselves useful something

that chinese game is so weird.

are the characters 3D models or KI-style pre-rendered sprites? animation is janky as hell.

They're pre-rendered sprites. The animation's janky because the dev team just sorts of tweak the characters' moves until it looks smooth enough to get the idea of movement across.

People are already making themselves feel terrible, I see no need to add to it. Besides, the entire voting campaign has produced enough sodium chloride to dwarf Morton's - I think we have enough.

Then again, tears are delicious.

I'm so psyched Beowulf is in. Totally gonna pick the game up again when he's released.

So how do you guys feel about injustice being at #1 this month?
Was a pretty down month for the industry in general but the fact that a fighting game debuted at #1 is incredible. I actually can't remember the last time I've seen a fighting game so high in the charts.

It was pretty funny seeing the reaction on gaf too, people on here were really salty about the art direction but it's clear that their complaints are outnumbered.

When I brought it up on twitter too, I got a bunch of salty responses or excuses as to why it's number 1. Even if I'm not a fan of said game a fg that does as well as it has I feel benefits everyone in the space regardless if they play or not.

It also confirms my perception that I've always had that there is a inherent capcom bias. I live capcom games but so many great non capcom games o completely under the radar and don't get played

I hope that the game keeps breaking sales records and stream records so that capcom takes notice and steps their shit up. Bad sales dont help anyone. Sfxt dying in the space doesn't help anyone either

I like it. People who hate Injustice are gonna hate, but whatever.

Just cause it's number 1 doesn't mean it sold all that well.
Heck, it could've had a worse debut than Street Fighter X Tekken, given that Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is at 140k including digital (though I doubt it).

I feel like the capcom bias has been apparent for awhile, lol. I'm really happy to see it debut well, but I still wanted to see the concrete numbers which I don't believe were said yet.

I think everyone knew it was going to be the best selling game of the month, considering it's competition.

Also it has Batman in it so come on

I like the game but I think it's fug. But that's most fighting games these days to me. The ugly part not the liking them part

Eh I think the game's ugly as fuck but I was never under the illusion that it wasn't going to sell well or anything, and anyone that thought otherwise is kind of crazy. NRS has a pretty good track record, and if you combine that with WB's marketing machine you're going to do pretty well. In 20 years, I don't think Boon's ever made a fighting game that hasn't made money. Except maybe War Gods. Iuno. I don't know much about that one. Maybe that was a Midway game and not actually a Boon game.

Yeah a lot of those are the same replies I got on twitter. I think when the actual numbers are public it will silence most of the critics
It's not really surprising to see a nrs game sell. What is surprising is the fact that the tour ey circuit has embraced it except for NorCal and its blowing up streams. Mk9 sold 3 mill but it was never popular on twitch

It's kinda telling that the two characters that won are amoung the last stereotypically pandering ones
I think there are a lot of good lessons for the team moving forward in terms of what appeals.

One of the good things about having multiple characters is being able to appeal to both niche/mainstream audiences at once. The sexualized ones (I totally get that Valentine is a trope/Mai tribute, but is still kinda awkward) are the ones where I think they'd want to tread carefully moving forward.

Netherrealm games just end up more casual oriented. (And casuals are a larger audience.) Nothing wrong with that, but there are definitely valid reasons Capcom games stick around longer in the competitive scene other than "Capcom Bias."

1. Injustice sold because DC.
2. Injustice will continue to sell because its the most fun I've had since UMvC3
3. The art direction is still eh. But once you get used to it its not bad.

Yeah, I agree. I am also constantly surprised at how many viewers the game is pulling. That's natural for a new game for the first week, but Injustice has had viewership legs in comparison to the norm which is nice.

I wouldn't describe people's reactions on here to the game's presentation as "salty". But I'm also glad a pretty decent fighting game did good

It's great that its #1 as it shows that there is still interest in fighters. The DC license also may have helped but still with most games not doing as well lately along with next gen hype train i'm happy to see injustice doing well.

Yeah being in the scene as long as I have I've been on both sides of the fence. It's definitely not as simple as saying capcom bias for sure. It's a whole host of reasons

What are the critics saying? You said it yourself that it has a bunch of stuff the casuals will eat up and it clearly shows, which is fine. MK9 sold gangbusters iirc so another fighting game from those people but with Batman and friends I'd expect to also sell well.

I love Injustice and glad to see it sold well. I'm just glad I have people to play with locally, because I fucking hate the online.

Why is it surprising? MK9 sold really well and was a pretty shit game from just about every angle except added content.

Injustice doesn't have the violence, but it has the DC license. Not only that, but it seems a better game all around even if I don't think it is all that great.

I'd be shocked if it didn't sell relatively well, just like every other licensed cross over game in the history of gaming (which is why they keep making em).

It'd be nice if the Capcom guys started taking Injustice more seriously. The MK guys should start talking mad shit. Seriously. Every time CDjr wins NLBC he should go on twitter talking about how free Chris G is.

Mostly the same mk complaints that you heard over the years. I actually have a lot of those complaints too, but I've played so many engines over the years that I don't mind learning the quirks
