I imagine they got scared off by all the negative press too. They were probably testing the waters to see if they could just slip in and not ruffle too many feathers, but then it was all about how they'd have to run their own tourneys and questions about who would show up for that and how much money brazzers would have to invest. They probably also looked at stream metrics and saw numbers in the thousands, which is peanuts for them. They would be blocked off at the start from Evo, which, if it happened, would only get them views in the 10s of thousands, but with no hope of getting prominent placement next to any sponsors.

It was damn funny though and now a hilarious part of FGC lore.

Well he's been playing on stick trying to get used to that and still got top 8 and as long as he doesn't play a cammy he'll be fine. There was a stint last year where he looked vulnerable. He'll recover he always does.
 
I used to play so much MTG like 10 years ago, hearing Spooky talk about it now makes me so nostalgic :(

and lost cause i dont know what any of these new cards do.

I don't think UMvC3 is going to die anytime soon, personally. While people are clearly annoyed with certain aspects of it (Waaaaassskkerrr, soul fist + doom missile, etc), it still gets good turnout at tournaments and I haven't seen anything close to the pure hatred that I've seen for SFxT.

The amount of hate SFxT gets seriously amazes me sometimes. Toryuken was pretty much non-stop SFxT-shitting 24/7. I can't remember the last time the FGC universally decided a game was garbage like that.

He's been secretly practicing stick for at least 3 years now. I've also seen him hit the same combos he hits on pad on a stick so I don't think stick is an excuse for him anymore.

Seems like he just can't play against offensive orientated characters.

What said? About stick? Every year he's been saying he's trying to learn stick for SBO. I ran into him in an online lobby once played a few games with him. He beat the shit out of me but I got 1 game off he message me like "gg good one, excuse my bad play I'm trying to learn stick. ^_^ (or some other smiley face)"

It was like a backhanded complement saying "hey grats you beat me but i wasn't even trying." Sad part was I wasn't even feeling myself cause I just got smack 8-1 or some shit.

Well obviously he's fully comfortable with a stick. Still he's much better with a pad. I'm just saying writing him off cause he's been off lately(he's not really since he still makes top 8 winners) doesn't mean he's gonna be free to Sanford.
 
Word on the street is that Marn has picked up Marvel again. Screwing around with Zero/Strider/Vergil.

Viscant knows his Haggar is ass and he has seen other Haggars play. It wouldn't change the fact that on his team his Haggar is just an assist. Assistless Haggar is bad, Haggar with assists is scary against a lot of popular teams.
 
His Vergil was extremely bad when the last time he was shown to be playing the character. But that was a long time ago at Bar Fights and a lot of Vergil tech has been put out.

Top 10 for both characters is Mid tier? And it's generally agreed that Noel's tier list isn't that accurate.

Marvel should be fine though, everybody who plays it now will still be playing it. The only difference we'll see is that a lot of top player who play all 3(or 2 of the 3) but put more emphasis on Marvel will probably come back to AE and SFxT more for this tournament series like FChamp for example.

Pretty sure they were talking about people not playing Marvel post Evo, not a new Marvel

I just hope Asura makes the cut if that comes out. That game was awesome and he would be sick in this game.

Eh, people dropped that game without even trying it. It was actually pretty awkward because everyone was so indignant about the reuse of sprites and the shoddy presentation that they completely ignored the game. It's one thing to call it a bad game, but it's another to critique its faults when you literally don't know anything about the game. And it's not like I liked it, either, it was just awkward.

SFXT is a different case. It's been vivisected and picked apart; the community knows a good deal about how it works underneath all the oily textures and the gems, and there's nothing good about the game that people want to deal with. So it has been deemed 'ass' by the fighting game zeitgeist.
