Fighting Games Weekly | May 7-13

Errr...what? You said Japan has never really taken Marvel seriously not because of quality but because of taste, but here I am showing you that Japan thinks the game is shit and unworthy of being classified as a real fighting game.

How is that not a measure of quality?

Isnt Marvel in SBO this year?

Holy shit, this thread got interesting.

Stop dick measuring, folks. Go back to practicing and actually playing the damn games and get ready for EVO, jeez....

The hell happened in this thread. It got as far as people calling Kusoru an illegitimate player? Damn.

Usually, I refrain from writing posts late at night as they just end up as hateful, baseless stuff of the sort. As someone who used to participate in this, it's really unnecessary and makes for shit discussion. Dahbomb said it best: GTFO with that GameFAQs shit.

Persona 4 Arena will vindicate you all.

Unsure how much of a shot I'll give this game with VF coming at the same time, but I want to, if only to try impressing certain folks. Leaning towards NEC for my second tourney this year, if I don't take any vacation, moreso for the social then the games. I'm a pot monster so I go to tournies to meet folks, not to actually try and win.

"People" here didn't call Kusoru an illegitimate player, it was that shitty article that was linked to talking about how Tokido is legitimate but Kusoru isn't.

Real talk Kusoru is one of the most legit players of Marvel in the world right now. People don't know how ridiculously solid he is playing with all 3 of his characters and his awareness of general tech and application of tech is some of the best there is. This is the guy who discovered the DHC glitch in Vanilla so you generally know that he puts actual effort into dissecting the game. People just see Log trap and some gimmicks claiming that he is a gimmicky, illegitimate player.

Again, get the fuck out of here with that bull shit.

I hate this too. Unconventional yes, but still legitimate. Some players is all about mixups, some all about setups, he (at least from what I've seen) is all about that unknown tech (and the setups and mixups that come with that tech).

Thing is that his tech isn't unknown in Japan and if you watch his play there it's way more solid because those people know how to approach that match up and know about the tech. Dude makes some impeccable reads, has great spacing, defense and has additional tricks he didn't pull at Final Round. He's not the best there but he's still top 3 there.

I bet if Abegen blows it up in America people are going to say the same thing about him.. that he is a gimmicky player banking off of people having lack of match up knowledge on the character. Only it's really America's own fault for not exploring the characters and tech found in the game.

At a base level, Kusoru can also block at Wong levels or better. It's not just the tech, it's his fundamentals too. He understands the game, when to apply pressure, etc. better than most players in the US. He exploited others' frustration and attempts to take risks in desperation.

I can't call him the best cause we have so little to work off of, and thus can't call him consistent either. But he is definitely a threat, and is making lazy Marvel players take notice and put their iron forged tier lists on blast. If only other pros were willing to experiment themselves rather than YT and follow what is said to work. EDIT: Dahbomb beat me to it.

1) Final Showdown
2) AH3
3) KoF13

Those are the three best fighting games released this generation.

VF! VF! VF! VF! VF!

For me, I am an ST fanboy and AE has mechanics that I am very much against and I was never a big Marvel guy but X-Factor makes me sour lol.

Kusoru is legit. Not doing your hw =/= he got by on gimmicks. The game is essentially fate of 2 bullshits, there's no "correct" kind. I can see people not calling him consistent in NA since he's only come once, but calling him bad is lol. The man pisses excellent fundamentals.

Past 5 pages were ridic, I quoted the Wizard thing as a funny, never thought it would get out of hand hahaha. PLAY WHAT GAME YOU LIKE GUYS, you don't have to defend a piece of software's honor.

Hope they DQ quick in KOF if the Shirt-Gate is to be believed. Like Smurf said, can't be too mad if it's true since the pot is bigger, but waiting for someone who has no intention of showing is bleh. Especially since a handful judges are nicer than others (or will wait for top players -- which is gahbage but for a different reason).

I really am sad panda that I can't go to EVO this year T_T.

Some people here need to YouTube some KVO Marvel matches.

Also yes, p4u etc. Poverty fighting scene too strong.

There's definitely shit about AE that bug me, but I think my only real beef with MvC3 is how certain teams feel like I just can't fucking ever move to generate my offense. If I'm not the one who came out swinging and confirmed first, then finding my opening again is just shit. That could be my team, or it could be how fucking inept I am with dealing with Doom missle assists and sentinel drones. Trying to snap in Doom to get rid of the problem doesn't do shit either since the character is so damn good, unlike Sent where a snap in can generally get you to destroy him due to his big ass hit box.

I suck at mahvel.

IMO X factor in Marvel is the equivalent of Ultimate Defense Gems in SFxT. Without them I love those games. With them, it's honestly a lot of BS and I can't take it seriously. But regardless, if people like it, who am I to tell them not to enjoy.

There are plenty of good players in the states who mess around with characters that aren't popular. They just can't afford to travel to big tournaments all the time so you rarely see them. America is still obsessed with seeing MvC2 heavyweights rather than new blood in MVC3.

Americans do go to gaga over character and assist tiers though. It's way too early in the games life cycle for any tiers to be concrete.

Sounds like I missed one hell of a party in here last night. People still salty over Kusoru's exploitation of a strange team with synergy still cracks me up though (since this is the most prominent topic on this page, I might as well comment on it).

It's like how people are still salty over Snyder!

What's really funny is that everyone including top players take this so personal mean while to Kusuro this game is considered "shit" and nothing more than a joke. GG fgc.
