LOL to me is the wrong inspiration for EVO anyways- it should be the WSOP.

Think about it- what's the WSOP about- it's basically you get to play against the best in the world if you got the cash to put up, and if you win, you make it big.

The one change I'd make to EVO payouts is to take the pot bonus and make them raffle tickets you get by winning matches. The main tourney would keep the 70/20/10 or whatever with the entry fees, but folks who win a match have a shot at say $1,000 with 20 winners if the pot bonus is 20k.

2000 entrants and a 70% winners is 14k. Even a 50% would be 10k

I really wish I knew if I'd like Smash or not. Part of me is afraid it's too super-technical from all the stuff I hear.

Putting aside the people involved for a moment, what does "make it esports" even mean? That's incredibly non-specific, a catch-phrase that does nothing more than to polarize sides.

Same goes for "gotta keep our character". You're assuming a united, homogenous view of the FGC.

Point out clear examples of what you like, don't like, want to see changed. Blanket statements at best are noise in the crowd and at worst add to the hyperbole.

Sign up page.
When signing up include your SEN name and GAF name, like so: Sarumanu (SEN) / Busaiku (GAF).
Sign-ups open through next Saturday (November 23) at 10 PM CST.
Matches will begin as soon as sign-ups end/brackets go up.
Open to all North American residents.

Format will be Round Robin, 1st to 4 wins.
Games will be standard 2/3, 99 seconds, no unlimited.
If there are any stages or anything that are frowned upon, lemme know.

Tournament will last through December 12.
Since it's Round Robin, it can end way before, but you have until then to play your matches.

Winner will receive a single item of their choice from Eighty Sixed's BlazBlue collection.

I haven't really been following the situation, but idk it just sound to me like Watson is angry and concerned about his own interests and is trying to pass that off as some greater concern for the community.

It just comes off as extremely personal. Wizard slighted him so now he's trying to manipulate people into getting Wizard back.

because, like you said, I don't really know what interests of mine are being challenged. I don't really care how they monetize Evo so long as it remains open entry and there is a place for casuals/side tournaments. If that's what is on the line here as Evo "goes e-sports" then someone correct me because I haven't heard anything of the sort. Just Watson making a lot of public noise over a personal beef as usual.

We all give Enzo crap for his titles, but the banner changes have universally been clutch. One correction to the OP, though: the US version of UNIEL has a release date now of February 24th.

As for Smash, I'm not even sure who I would play. I played Marth and Ice Climbers in Meele, and Marth looks stiff in this game and as for Nana and Popo... RIP. I don't even remember what my WiiU ID is, but it should be in my GAF profile.

I got a couple of extension cables on amazon a while ago and they do the job.
