Fighting Games Weekly | Sept 8-14 | Fining Nemo

It apparently requires an iPhone so it's more like selling a Wii U tablet without the base system

Also now that it has force tap you can now make an iOS fighting game consisting of LP and HP.

If you mean a new IP, I can only imagine that crashing and burning. Capcom's greatest strength is their long line of existing IPs.

SF5 would crash if they released it in the next 2-3 years. It has to compete with SF4 and it will be hard for them to do it right now.

How bizarre that they've managed to put themselves in the exact same spot they were in after SF2.

Maybe that does really mean a new Alpha, hah. That's their standard answer when they stumble counting to the next single digit.

If it's really PS4 only, I still think it's DS4. They don't want to just trade USF4 for SF5 on the CPT.

Would any of the regulars here like a steam key for Gunpoint? I'll PM the key to the first person that says they want it (as long as I recognize you).

If they release it within the next two years it would be perfect, as we would still be early to the gen and the game will get some decent exposure. The main problem would be selling the average video game player on the monstrous cast, though.

Supernatural monster stuff is still super "in".

I am currently sitting in the Heart of Gaming in London. This place is pretty neat! They have ST and 3S on cab. 3S looks many times better on a CRT than it does on a monitor. :)

Not in London for any expressly important reason. :)

Would recommend people come with a friend or two to check out the arcade. There is a tonne of good cabs here and a lot of space for console casual stuff too.

Yeah, it's a good place. It actually hosts tournaments throughout the week for all sorts of games.

THEY NEVER SEEM TO GET ANY MENTION IN THIS THREAD THOUGH

It is in the middle of nowhere, in so far as that is possible in Zone 2. And it doesn't hype up its events that much. It's quite underground.

Entered a local USFIV tournament on Sunday and came fourth, videos got posted today.

My recorded matches:

One

Two

Three

Four
Nice stream transitions. Is this a weekly? I never see it linked in here.

lol the 2nd round of your first match is great. Playing chicken with Focus right off the bat. Your RSF loops were hella on point. You were doing ~50% near every time in that set. That was fun to watch.

RIP in that second set. I didn't know Oni was bad matchup for Elf.

Shame you started missing your RSF combos in the third and fourth games. There were a few times where you probably should gone for the easy damage with U1/2 instead. You really didn't want to block against that Cody on wakeup huh lol.

Noticed you don't go ham with Q-bomb like most Fuerte's seem to do these days. Why's that? I kept wanting you to at least test them in the first round by abusing it and seeing if they knew the punishes or not.
If I count I'll take it. :)
Alright, I'll send it in a bit.

Where would you want SF5 to start off, cast-wise? Complete reboot SF3 style? Derived from SFII like SFIV started out as? Build off the final USFIV roster?

Ideally, post-SFIII with distinctively older characters, and simultaneously derived from SFII.

Me too, but I think they (and the modern market) have backed themselves into a corner where this is impossible. Imagine a game shipping without the entire ST cast there and ready looking same as always.

With 3D that shouldn't even be a problem. Just have the Classic, younger looks as alts. Even make them unlockable. Casuals will eat it up

The tournament wasn't actually streamed, just recorded for Youtube. I don't think the bar it's hosted in actually has any internet access.

It's a tournament in South London that started at the end of July. They're aiming for monthly events, I think.

Neither did I!

Yeah, I was really messing up that day. the problem is that every time I'm thinking "OK, I won't screw up this one". I should go back into trining mode an just brush up on my execution. Haven't done that in ages.

Because I don't like the move at all. People forget that it's still crazy unsafe on block; any character with a decently ranged ultra gets a guaranteed punish. I prefer keeping it a surprise option than having people look out for opportunities to block it and kill me.

It's sad that even in this version, I feel asleep watching Dee Jay.

In case anyone cares, I saw a list on Reddit (from D1 on Twitter) that has a list of people who will be streaming Japanese Smsah on launch: http://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/2f65cp/reminder_japanese_3ds_streamer_list_important/

I've been watching D1 on Twitch (keeping me amused at work) with his thoughts on Smash 4. Pretty interesting stuff.
can't be "on disc" on iOS

It's "hidden folder DLC" with the programming of the App. Kappa

Out of curiosity, how often do you guys go down there? I've been attending HoG for the last two years and not spotted you guys(not that I go around asking). That being said, Mark (the dude who co-runs it) has gotten me into Stepmania >: (

Also, you guys might get a (heavy)kick out of my nephew playing USFIV (surprised I didn't post this earlier)

Ah, I see. You should tell the guy he should stream the recorded/edited footage from his place afterwards even if it isn't live! Would be a good way of getting the event more exposure and an opportunity for him to make some Twitch adbux pocket change. Gotta get that #MAXCPM

Your execution was pretty good in that first game though! I thought your run-stop pressure in general was pretty great, especially when you had that Viper in the corner. You think the game with Problem X maybe rattled you?

Yeah, it is, but not everyone knows that! And also the distance away it leaves Elf throws some people off. I still think it's something at least worth trying out in the very first round! At the very least, it would have helped against that Cody and every time he fished with focus.

EX Q-Bomb is a move that lets you close out a game by just sitting on a life lead, since you can react to pressure with it.

I'm there most Sundays to play Ultra and goof around on other stuff.

Rolento? He's started down a dark path...

Maybe. he's been taunting me for WEEKS that he was going to pick Oni the next time we played each other in a tournament, so I was on the back foot going into that match. My record against Apollo Steed and Chun in general has been really bad in Ultra so that didn't help either. I just need to work on my execution so that I'm not so easily rattled in the future.

I understand that, but I'm afraid of creating bad habits just as I starting to see people adapt to it. the Fuerte in Manchester, ProFluke, has been ABUSING the move and people are slowly starting to block him.

Nice Fuerte Wiseblade. Ive been pretty bored with SF4 for a while now...kind of want to play Fuerte now just to spite everyone like I did in Vanilla.

Would love a mix up of the cast with only a few returning characters. It was one of the best parts of SF III (although it didn't go over so well back then.) I would think (and hope) by now that consumers would be more open to a rebooted SF cast.

There are other UK fgc people talking on FGW.

Is this the real life

And yeah Pro Fluke has kinda got people up to speed on Ex Q Bomb. It is daft.
