Fighting Tournament Weekend: Final Round XIX: Friends Among U.S.

tekken is always one of those games i kinda want to play, totally don't understand, and don't want to put the hours in to learn

10 seconds in and daigo's stream is more interesting than sf iv

What's not to understand? It's high, mid, and low.

Lows are rare, blocking high is default.

It's like SF except the mixup you're looking for is the low and not the high.

Huh. I haven't played it in a long time. I always thought to block you leave your stick in neutral or something. Whenever I would block things I would just think "HOW DID I DO THAT".

Well, like I said, hopeless. But...progress. I can at least understand what to look for now.

When you get knocked down, holding back is suicide. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Tekken by default auto blocks Mid and high without even touching the stick yes. You still gotta block low. Some lows in Tekken are unseeable, and really difficult to block on reaction.

Probably, cause yup I remember getting up, "holding block", and getting destroyed. I just know my normal FG blocking did not work and if it doesn't and there's no block button I don't know what's going on.

Ohhhhh so that's where I got the neutral thing from. I knew I got it from somewhere. So really you're only blocking lows? And that's down-back to block?

I'm still confused. I haven't ever owned a Tekken, and I only put time into Tekken 3 but that was when I was like 7.

No, neutral block doesn't block everything. Don't rely on it. It's just there.

You hold back to block highs and mids. Lows hit you. Throws connect.

You hold down back to block lows, avoid highs and throws but mids will still hit you.

I see....I see...

Starting to make sense. Still so foreign to me though. It's cool that Tekken is that unique there.

Smash.gg isn't showing any pool assignments right now. I know what pool I was listed in before. But I'm worried that they may have changed that and I just want to make sure to be there in the morning if I have to be. Are the pools and schedule listed anywhere right now?
