They opened up a Jollibee here in Jacksonville Florida. Line has been insane for the past few days (my friends waited for like 3 hours).


I just woke up this morning at 6:30 from a bad dream and decided to drive down there when it opened.

So, what happened to this thread? We all became quite quiet.

The new Philippine Football League kicked off this weekend, and I am super excited about it. I'm pretty much up in arms that I can watch the matches live here from Europe.

Well I had a revelation last night.. hosted the Canelo vs Chavez fight and someone brought in some boxes of this dessert called "senorita bread"..

I must of had 10 of them myself.. insanely good!!

Hey fellas, any chance there's a streaming service available with Filipino channels/TV shows? Has to work in Canada.

I'm looking to get my grandma an iPad, and I wanted to set it up for her with a few things. She can't always watch TV in our living room or in one of our rooms and she loves her GMA TV dramas and Eat Bulaga.

If you already subscribe to GMA on your cable package, check if your provider has a streaming app. I believe DirecTV streams GMA on their app, but I don't know if any Canadian providers do.

Alternatively, set up a YouTube account for your grandmother and subscribe to a bunch of Pinoy channels. I got my parents a Smart TV and tablet a few years ago and they find tons of Pinoy content on YouTube. Some of it is uploaded unofficially, though, so you might have to find new sources from time to time.

I think Eat Bulaga's channel is official, though, and they actually livestream their shows daily if your lola wants to stay up late: https://www.youtube.com/user/eatbulaga1979

That Eat Bulaga YT channel is key. Thanks for that. The live video is nice in case she's up late, but she probably can't watch live for the most part. But the archived segments are what she's probably gonna watch, those seem more current than the full episodes (stops at late-April).

Unfortunately, my provider doesn't have GMA Pinoy TV as part of its streaming app.

I don't get why martial law applies to all of Mindanao.

My fam in Zamboanga right now are on conspiracy theory mode, thinking there's more coz it doesn't make sense to apply to the entire island.

I'm also skeptical. It should've been isolated in the Lanao area.
Other redditors are also saying there is an ongoing propaganda. Lots of dummy accounts spreading misinformation.
I remember duterte said a few weeks ago he's thinking of using martial law in mindanao.
All seems to be convenient. I just hope this martial law is warranted.
Hope my fellow mindanaoans are safe.

So at work I've been assigned to translate the Marawi news for international broadcasting. They kept on sending a new report upon new report by the minute. I'm originally from Mindanao too so many of my friends are affected by the Martial Law declaration.

Shit's big, man.

How many terrorist groups are there in the Philippines? I admittedly never looked into this and have only heard of Abu Sayyaf and now these Maute groups. It's unnerving.

On the top of my mind, there's the NPA, Abu Sayyaf, Maute. You can include MILF/MNLF, but they haven't been a threat recently. People refer to Abu Sayyaf as bandits rather than a terrorist group. NPA fuctions as a leftist militia but they have supposedly done more damage than Abu Sayyaf. Maute is a new group though.

I just read on Reddit that people in Marawi are being asked to prove that they're Muslim and if they're not they're "taken care of" or some shit like that.

If this is true then I think I understand why ML was placed on all of Mindanao. There's so many terrorist groups hiding there, it's better to be safe than sorry.

It looks most of the people making a big deal about martial law in Mindanao are located in Manila.

According to a TV news report, people are willing to have it implemented for their safety.

In other news, it's rainy season!!! Traffic will be worse.

What's up with the delay of the new law denying you to talk in the phone while driving? Did it get backlash because the people won't be able to have their accessory having on the rear mirror when driving? I know it's a big deal to people there that they can have an accessory they can use for praying while driving.

It is poorly made. It is supposed to be as simple as don't use your gadgets while driving but the lame admins decided to ban everything you can put on the dashboard or within the windshield area.

Rosaries on the rearview mirror is something incredibly minor that it's actually surprising that that's been looked at. On the other side of it, it isn't unique to have certain restrictions on what to have on your windshield/dash in other places.

Just stick to a distracted driving law, aka the ban on electronics use or any activity deemed distracting for drivers. Keep it simple and common sense.

They should just ban the use of electronics while behind the wheel, and only allow hands-free phone calls. Then let it be up to people themselves what they'll have on the cockpit and just educate people on how dangerous it can be having loose items in your car.

There's an attack in world resort manila. rip to the victims. But I kinda feel it's fabricated or it will get blown out of proportion by the goverment just to declare martial law in luzuon.
