Fill me in on 360X launch games - launch window games

Being the electronic nerd I am, I'm looking forward to the Xbox 360, but I have no clue what games are going to be released with the system or what games are going to be released 1-2 months after the system comes out...anyone wanna fill me in?

I'd be interested to see it broken out by:

Day 1 games
By the end of the year games
Jan games
Feb/Mar games

I'd say some likely Day 1 games are:

Ghost Recon 3
Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Madden 2006
Oblivion: Elder Scrolls
Tony Hawk
Quake 4 (maybe end of year - trade places w/Call of Duty)
Call of Duty
Kameo

We haven't heard enough about Microsoft's to know Day 1 for sure, especially w/ PGR 3& Perfect Dark 0

Additional confirmed launch (= day 1) titles:

FIFA 06 (at least for Europe)
Full Auto
NBA Live 06
Peter Jackson's King Kong
The Outfit
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06

AFAIK also scheduled for day 1:

PD0, PGR 3, DoA 4, Saint's Row, Condemned, NBA 2K6

Who was it that called this a solid lineup? At least a RPG or two is needed, and not Kameo. How long before Gears of War comes out?

I'll require these at/near launch:

Perfect Dark Zero (probably)
Kameo Elements of Power
Ghost Recon 3
Godfather the Game
Need for Speed Most Wanted
Project Gotham Racing 3
NBA 2K6
DOA4
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (maybe on PC)
Top Spin 2 (maybe)

I would feel alot better if EA would actually confirm Madden 06 for launch window. I still haven't seen that confirmed.

If it does get confirmed then

Madden
PGR3
Ghost Recon
PDO

Will probably be the max I can afford and that is a very solid lineup.

Here's your medicine :p

Electronic Arts was also in the house to announce its continued support of Microsoft's gaming console, and EA's president of worldwide studios Don Mattrick announced that EA is currently working on 25 games with at least 6 being developed for the Xbox 360 launch. Those titles include Need for Speed™ Most Wanted, The Godfather™, FIFA Soccer 06, NBA LIVE 06, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR® 06, and Madden NFL 06.

"At least a RPG or two is needed, and not Kameo"

RPG's at launch? That's a rare thing. ALthough the 360 should have FFXI and Oblivion coming out shortly after launch.

for us launch:

sports: madden 06, nba 06, nba 2k6, nhl 2k6, tiger woods 06, fifa 06, top spin 2
extreme sports: amped 2, tony hawk
racing : pgr 3, nfs: most wanted, test drive: unlimited, full auto
shooter: pd0 (if it makes it) , call of duty 2, quake 4, gun, ghost recon 3, condemned
fighting: dead or alive 4
action/adventure: kameo, tomb raider, king kong
mission based driving (i.e. gta clone): the godfather
rpg: oblivion, ff xi (even if only beta)

seems like a very solid lineup to me, if you compare it to previous console launches, most major genres are covered. if you don't like anything but very japanese games, then I can see that you won't be happy with the lineup, but sorry to say you are in a minority there.. there are many best selling franchises there at launch (madden, fifa, tiger woods, tony hawk, nfs, pgr, call of duty, quake, tomb raider etc.)

is dead rising and frame city killer coming for launch?
outfit and saint's row are for 2006, i'm not so sure though..

then there are all the japanese games that should come here sometime in 2006, such as blue dragon and chrome hounds.

full list of confirmed x360 games here:

Okay, to wrap it up - these are confirmed:

Ghost Recon 3
Need For Speed: Most Wanted
Madden 2006
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
Call of Duty 2
Kameo
FIFA 06
NBA Live 06
Peter Jackson's King Kong
The Outfit
The Godfather
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06
Full Auto
PGR 3

These are most likely:

Perfect Dark Zero
Dead or Alive 4
Saint's Row
Condemned
NBA 2K6

Quake 4 hasn't even a release date yet, I doubt that it will be released by the end of this year. And The Outfit was in fact confirmed as a launch title. I'm not sure about the two Sega titles. Both Full Auto and Condemned are scheduled "fall 2005" and are likely to be US launch titles while the European release of Full Auto says "early 2006"...

We'll see.

There are no confirmed day one titles at this point. I think we all expect Madden to be there day 1, but as with all the games, we just don't know. I think it's extremely questionable to assume that ~most games shown at E3 are guaranteed launch titles, even the playable ones (which were few).

I know that it's probably in some retailers databases, but given that not a single developer actually has been able to even touch a beta development kit, we should probably wait to hear "confirmed" listings before making them ourselves.

From my understanding "launch window" extends into Q2 2006.

This is correct, launch window basically means fiscal year as well.

I'm really excited about Call of Duty 2, Ghost Recon 3, and hopefully Perfect Dark Zero once we hear more about the game.

Condemned is looking good as well. A buddy of mine played it at E3 and told me that if Bumfights was made into a game - this would be it. :lol

WOW! If all of those make it that's an impressive line-up. If they get PDO, Condemned, Kameo, PG3, DOA4 and Oblivion in the launch window it's going to make for the most exciting launch-line-up I personally have ever looked forward to before. Couple that with Madden and hopefully FIFA a little later and I will be one happy gamer for at least 2-3 months:)

Also Condemned...should be in the action/adventure/survival category...if this game deliver it could be another big title. Rather than extreme sports and racers, this game should have a lot of meat to it. Good story driven horror type game.

Seriously, the 360 is looking excellent to me right now. I could deffinitely say best launch line-up ever and not feel stupid about saying it. Because out of right now there are more than 8 games I REALLY want out of the launch line-up. That's never happened to me before. Almost too good to be true that i'll see a highly anticipated racer, fps, rpg, sports, adventure and horror game all at launch....I forsee delayes. They really don't NEED all of that and I just don't think developers are going to want to tear each other's throats and end up with crappy sales on such highly anticipated titles.

Okay, let's assume "confirmed" means "most likely to be released with X360". :)

Btw, wtf exactly does "launch window" mean? Afaik this term has never been used before.

Really? They use it for all of the launches, it just means games that are slated to release in the first few months following launch.

Is Prey supposed to come out this year?

Anyway, as long as either PDZ or Oblivion come out on day 1 I'll be picking one up.

I'd read, in an interview with Moore I believe, that the launch window as MS is using it consists of the first three months.

At launch I will be getting:

Perfect Dark Zero

Ghost Recon 3

Need4Speed:MW

Might Also be getting (depending on how good they are)

Call of Doodie too

PGR3

Solid Lineup for me :D

I have 16 pre-orders as it stands currently, plan to add Tiger Woods, Amped 3, Top Spin 2 and Quake 4 on Friday.

i only preordered the system.. hopfeully there wont be any software shortages.. although i guess the psp launch does not bode well

"Is Prey supposed to come out this year? "

No, that's 2006. Looking forward to that one myself.

Why's everyone preordering games? I've nerver heard of game shortages at launch. Am I not seeing something here? I feel pretty safe with just my system pre-order, besides I see bundles again.

Provided my money situation is alright....

I'm definitely getting Ghost Recon 3. It's the one 360 game that has really impressed me. Kameo and PDO could be excellent, so I'm keeping my eye on those. Never been a fan of Elder Scrolls, but Oblivion does look gorgeous.

If GR3 is announced for PS3, though, everything could change. I'll have to see what happens over the next several months.

AFIAK, MS are considering launch window as the first 40 days from the release of the Xbox 360

also, here is an unconfirmed "launch list":

Knoel said:
I was in my local Gamestop yesterday, and they said they have almost sold out of the second shipment, and they won't be taking pre-orders for any later shipment.

They also game me a list of game "launch" game I could pre-order. Here they are. None of this is set in stone.

Hey that's pretty fucking rad.

I'll wait until price/date are announced before I preorder. Hoping Kameo makes launch... Kameo, Full Auto, and Madden for me probably. Maybe NFS:MW or Burnout, too? I dunno.

I like how we've gone from "Launch" to a several month-long "Launch Window" with recent consoles. I can't wait for Nintendo and Sony to start bragging about how many titles they'll have for their "Launch Year."

32X.

Gears of War sometime next Spring. At least I should be able to just walk in and pick up a system when the game comes out. Nothing else worth owning until then.

BTW, is Shadowrun confirmed for Xbox 360?

No. I don't think its existence is even confirmed.

edit: i guess I'm wrong then. I haven't seen a confirmation for the game yet, though I do understand that it would probably only come out on a microsoft console.

I'm thinking about waiting next-gen out for a bit, must stay strong!

One console future depends on it :P

If a sexy, well made PD0 is out at launch I might just bite the bullet though. Otherwise I'll stick the PS2 until PS3 gets here.
