Is it pretty much confirmed that there's zero chance of this game releasing this year?

Has Square ever released two mainline FF games in the same year?

Arent they busy deciding what cutscenes should be cg or realtime?
man talk about priorities lol
No. They often start their hype machine about 6 months before release. If they haven't done that by E3 2012, then I'd say it's doubtful, but at the moment it's still very much a possibility. Maybe they'll start hyping it up once Kingdom Hearts 3D is out.Is it pretty much confirmed that there's zero chance of this game releasing this year?
They released Type-0 and XIII-2 within ~2 months of each other. If Versus is released this year, it'll be closer to the end of it, so I don't see what the problem would be.Has Square ever released two mainline FF games in the same year?
Uhh.. what? No. They are just doing cutscenes different to the way they've usually handled them in FF games, so some cutscenes have been redone.Arent they busy deciding what cutscenes should be cg or realtime?

Nomura said that the world is completely explorable 6 months ago.The last thing I remember Nomura announcing was that all the costume designs for the main cast were finalized. This was around 6 months ago....
They share a similar mythology, both are a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis saga. though, given how XIII-2 sold, I'm not sure if they'll want to leave the name as Versus XIII.MORE IMPORTANT
Why is this game called FF13: Versus if Square have stated it shares nothing with FF13 or FF13-2 ?
No. Actually, this year sounds more promising than the years before this, to me.

obviously, based gaben has a running bet with yoichi wada
If this game keeps the XIII title upon release it will be one of the most retarded moves Squeenix has ever made.

I'm interested in seeing how Square's new Luminous engine looks in Versus XIII in combination with Crystal Tools.
I'm pretty sure they're only using the Luminous engine to rework the lighting, right?
It will be worth the wait. :3

All games end to "bomb" (ie becoming really cheap) in the UK, except for Call of Duty and Nintendo games...yep,going by the 13-2 price drop in the uk (25 bucks) the game bombed extremely hard, and vs13 will even more,no matter the quality
When's the last time we had a true update on the state of the game in terms of released media? January 2011?
They can't be this dumb. I keep thinking that they have to just rename it FFXV, or at least FF: Something Else. The American audience outside of the really hardcore are not going to know what in hell this name means. It sounds like a fighting game's name. If they made a fighting game in the XIII universe, then they should name that FF: Versus XIII. This is not that. It should not have that name.
I know that's the date I'd choose if I was this joke of a developer. My prediction: Square Enix will hold a big conference this year to talk about FF XV & FFvsXIII, they talk about how both games are revolutionary to the series and that the company has been making them for the last 5-6 years, then it's trailer time, FFvsXIII is shown first, fantastic as usual, minblowing CG with great HD graphics and old school map, the trailer ends and the logo of FFvsXIII is shown, the logo stays there for 10 seconds and suddenly something is happening to it, the letters and numbers are all scrapped and they reform FFXV, and beneath it, FFvsXIII is FFXV gentlemen, April 1 2013 Japan, applauds everywhere (applauds for the game not the date)

Why would Square Enix do anything that makes sense? The only team that has made any decent FF game in recent years is the KH team and they're working on FF:V13. Having said that, we've had a handful of crappy KH games, 2 crappy FF 'mainline' games, ports and fighters. We've had 1 fantastic game in the last 6 years and that was KH:BbS.

The gameplay trailer from January 2011 eased a lot of the fears I had for the game. The combat system looks like the best since X-2 and the world looks big, pretty and HD.
Not sure why you're comparing, because six years is different from six Valve-years.
