FMVs are soft-subbed, so yes.
Quite literally the only reason.
And even then, the voice cast for FF10 in english is quite good. Japanese isn't going to save the tidus laughing scene.

Yuna's voice actress was terrible. I know she is suppose to be timid, but it wasn't believable. It sounded very manufactured.

You can get the PS3 to play it through it's sound chip I guess

Do I need to be on a certain CFW to get this to work properly? I want to be prepare for when I get the game.
4.50 minimum.
Upgraded from 4.46 REX or Rogero to 4.53 Habib before playing. Works perfectly, looks beautiful, text and menus are fantastic too.
The ability to play this game 3 months early and with Japanese audio feels princely. Best looking HD upgrade I've played too. Just when my PS3 was beginning to gather dust!

The dark corner I'm looking at says 4.20- 4.5 will also work (and has a separate patch for it) but the process is a bit more involved: you need to be able to resign files)

I can wait. I'm not going to jail break my PS3. I still use the PSN store quite a bit an play multiplayer games. You can't log on at all if you do this.
Yes that's why I just upgraded firmware rather than fuck about.
You can use PSN and as long as you don't draw attention to yourself you won't be banned.

Was just browsing a dark corner of the internet and a guy has managed to translate the game's text to English, presumably he just converted the PS2 files.
What a wonderful New Year's surprise, won't have to wait till March after all.
X-2 and Last Mission have also been translated too.
In before a mod asks you to post a pic of your original Japanese copy.
You can easily downgrade if you have QA flag enabled. Even if not, there are downgraders now too.
I doubt I'll ever need to. I'm sure it works just as well as earlier CFWs.
Honestly? I sort of wonder if something like that was done just for practice. It's going to come sooner than later and they know it, but it's probably an easy area to test your hacking abilities. Nevermind those people that want Japanese VA as I don't think this is supposed to have it.

EDIT: I updated to Habib 4.53, the game itself would glitch out all the time when running at 4.46.

I'm on whatever the latest Rebug was. Do I need to do anything special or just get the files for Habib 4.53 and usb upgrade it like any other FW update?
Just grab the files onto a USB and do the standard upgrade.
