NateTheHate: Final Fantasy 16 to be released on Xbox in Spring 2025

Anyone want to take bets on whether this game will chart in the top 10 for even one month on Xbox?

i.e. the gaming charts not just the xbox chart.

So is that saying Remake is "prioritized for Switch" or am I reading that wrong?

In all honesty though not sure what kind of numbers they are hoping for here, but hopefully pulls profit after port costs.

this rebirths combat is shit imo
I'm with the Remake/Rebirthers. XVI combat is okay, but stripping the RPG elements killed it for me. I think Remake/Rebith combat system best to come out of Square in many years, love it to death. But they are two very different systems, so I'm not surprised that each one has their fans. Good thing *insertmexicangirlgif*.

I think most gamers left on Xbox are Gamepass or bust at this point.

That's my point. So much is talked about with FF16 and/or Rebirth coming to Xbox. Like it really doesn't matter. These are not the biggest games on even PlayStation. They didn't do well on PC and they'll do even worse on Xbox.

Square Enix has a lot of soul searching to do and multiplatform alone isn't going to save them.

isnt every device is an Xbox nowdays?

so basically those game already released.

Damn, poor Xbox players can't catch a break :messenger_sad_relieved:

First MS starts releasing tons of games on PS5.
Now they are getting FFXVI

Someone should also consider buying the DLC if they plan on doing New Game+ because then they can use the new Eikon ability for the entire game.

Is there a version of the game that includes the DLC? Wondering if it's coming to Xbox (or gamepass) if it's gonna have the DLC included.

There is a Complete Edition which bundles the Expansion Pass (which contains the 2 DLCs) with the main game.

Already bought it on PlayStation, because it was exclusive.
No point in double dipping when I haven't finished it.

I still think that the entire headache with miracle-porting FF XVI to Series S is gonna worth more for SE that they will probably earn on Xbox even counting in some marketing MS dollars.

I think you're overestimating 16's technical prowess. A hypothetical Series S version won't need to run the same resolutions.

If you're going to bring up RAM limitations, there's plenty of PC games with min 16GB RAM requirements that have proportionally-well running versions on Series S (Indy, as a recent example, with RTGI and all). I don't think we should linearly compare PC spec requirements to console specs.

I think Series S with lower resolution and a 30fps only mode is pretty feasible on that hardware. There's no split screen co-op here which could be a bit bottleneck either. 🤷‍♂️

I hate to be a downer but if Xbox is not getting Rebirth till 2026 and we are celebrating this news, that is emblematic of the entire Xbox generation.

Where was the leadership? These games shape a generation. Silent Hill 2, Rebirth, Wukong, Baldur's Gate 3. All of these games should have made Xbox at launch, there is only lack of leadership to blame. For example, you may say "there was nothing he could do" but was not BG3's delay due to the parity clause? A leader could easily make an exception.

If Xbox had kept their quality up we would not be worrying about PC right now. Consoles would be healthy.

Who's "worrying" about pc?

...worrying?

Quite a change of tone compared to when it was exclusive.
What are you on about

I bought it when it was released on PC in September

I enjoyed my playthrough but couldn't ignore how overwhelmingly mediocre everything was

Never completed any of the FF games, just not my jam. Can't see a reason why I should buy this one.

Well this isn't a real FF game so you may actually like it.

It will sell a total of 5 copies on what ever new platform they put this game on now. It wasn't a great selling game to begin with.

Just play the demo if they release that on Xbox. The game starts as a 9/10 (for me anyway) and then instantly turns into a boring slog. There are a couple of big highs but it's surrounded in the most mediocre story and gameplay I've seen in a FF game for a long time.

Remake is better, but then I'd recommend just playing the head start mode to avoid 95% of the terrible filler side quests. Only a few hours into Rebirth but so far it's leagues ahead of both Remake and FFXVI.

There is a strong effective prescription to get the most out of any series you want to play, it's starting from the worst to the best and you'll like them all the best possible way.

Assuming a port is coming, I wonder if they're going to modernize the rendering of the game and if such changes would also be included in the ps5 version. FSR1 is just not working for it and destroys the image quality. It would be practically a crime to use it again in 2025 when much better solutions exist.

Suddenly it's mediocre and a button masher.
This whole thing is so tiring. "Suddenly FF XVI sucks" "Wow, Starfield will be amazing now I bet.." No, people have both complained about FF XVI and loved Starfield since launch. Nothing has changed. They are both polarizing and divisive games, in this case. It has nothing to do with suddenly being on other platforms. I see this garbage all over Twitter.
