Sorry, can't feel any sympathy here. All endgame content in every mmo ever eventually goes on farm. Once you've done it enough, you know how to do it, and the only way you're going to wipe and fail to complete it is if you have enough new players in the party/raid to overcome the experience and gear of the veterans.

Your raid point is disingenuous, you're implying that you'd be happier if AK was time locked as a weekly single run? Plenty of people are still using it to gear up with ilvl60 gear in all of their slots (which will easily propel you up to HM Titan, ignoring myth/phil entirely), running it a few times a week for a chance at those drops (and extra drops for other classes) is not a big deal.

SE hasn't cracked the magic code that makes dungeons fun to run week after week endlessly, surprise! That's not a new MMO issue.

If you're already at the point where you're farming AK to cap mythology and have HM primals on autopilot, perhaps its time to take a break from the game? You've beaten the story, you've seen every dungeon, what's left for you to do? Either go see the remaining content in the game via leveling other classes and exploring the world, help some friends, or bail out until they introduce new content! The game has been out for all of a few weeks, and many players here on GAF are still leveling their first 50.

I feel pretty much the same. If you've already put over 100h in a barely new MMO and you're already asking for more, well...

More? More content? No. Not really. More ways to get tomes? Sure. What's stopping them from upping the reward from Primal battles? 4 from Ifrit? Give me a break. Spread it out to the other only level 50 dungeon, Wanderer's Palace.

So, I got to chat with Yoshida for an hour at PAX two weeks ago. Took a while to get these cut, but here's the full interview in two parts. I think it's a good watch for people who don't know what Yoshida is like and his bluntness to discuss the shortcomings of v1.0 and what they're trying to do with ARR and upcoming patches.

This was a great interview, very insightful about the the original teams mindset.

There are people who are basically just taking up FC spots. Never talk, never do anything with anyone else in the FC, never post here or on Guildwork, don't even respond when a FC-mate says something or emotes at them when they pass by. I guess this would bother me less if the FC wasn't totally full and there weren't people who want to get in who might actually interact with the rest of the group.

They are going to start culling soon, which will hopefully take care of that issue. Me and my wife were on the gaf mumble for the first time last night, twas fun.

The first round of culling is happening this evening. We will continue to do this for a while until things start to level out. We should have a much clearer picture of what the active community is going to look like in 1-2 months.

I put my GAF name in my search comment. Obviously it isn't really intended for that, but nobody actually uses the search comment for anything else thanks to the duty finder anyway. Except maybe for finding melders, I guess.

I noticed that some people were doing this. Maybe we should start promoting that more?

If you check the "Members" page on the website there is a link to a spreadsheet version of our roster with GAF usernames and regions. Feel free to download and use this as a reference. I will probably add this to the Members forum at some point for better visibility. I just updated it again this week, so it should be pretty current. Unfortunately, there are many users that still haven't registered on the site or submitted their information, so there are a number of missing entries - most of which you will find are the players that are currently inactive or those that rarely participate.

This spreadsheet is easier to use than the general one in the OP since all members are from Ultros and more secure since public editing is not allowed and it is only viewable from the Members page, which is now restricted to Free Company members.

I feel like Cure III is broken for me. Or it just has ridiculously shitty range (4y radius? really? loooooool). I cast it on a melee DPS hoping to hit them all, and it only hits the one I casted it on. And they were not far from each other. I just see no point in it currently due to the mana cast and Medica/Medica 2 work just fine.

I agree with you. The range is 4 yalms, which is incredibly small. The people basically have to be standing on top of each other, which nobody ever is.
I might use it sometimes when overcure procs, for the crit heal, but it's almost never worth it.
Glad to hear that we are coming to the some conclusion here. Makes me feel like I might be on the right path as far as healing goes.

Honestly, it would be better if Cure III was just a single target spell with higher cure potency, and continue the chain of 'Freecure' upwards.

I haven't reached that level yet, but does Aero II incur the same status effect as Aero?

Give them some time to look at things and adjust as needed/if they want to. If you're trying to do everything now now now now now, suck it up and either deal with it or bolt.

I just had an idea.

Can we maybe have a separate thread for the slow/new players? This thread is mostly about endgame/high level content and some of us have been taking our time. The game just came up two weeks ago. Right now it's almost impossible to discuss early game content because pretty much everyone posting here has moved to the endgame.

I am for this idea.

I believe they are actually different DoT's. So you can have both up at the same time. Not 100% sure on that one though.

add in report function. i'm getting gold spam day and night via shout and tells. i didn't know it was so excessive nowadays. hopefully the devs can find a way to ban every user that got in touch with them as well. gold buyers have to be banned for live from the game as well.

I honestly don't even have Cure III on my bars. I was excited when I first got it because I figured it was just a ranged Medica. Tried to use it two or three times after that and never hit a single extra person.

I suppose if you know a big attack is coming and can get everyone grouped up it's actually stronger than either Medica in up front healing, but it just seems too situational.

You're in Sargatanas Red Dot right?

I is, Sjan. It's filled with cool peoples.

Warrior Stylin Tip

Holmgang.

I thought it was pretty useless. It's just mostly useless, it has some cool applications.

Notably, the root from it locks the mob in place completely. Completely as in, mob cannot turn, cannot attack you.

If you stun a mob with Brutal Swing and then strafe around behind it and hit Holmgang, the mob is locked in place and you're completely free from damage for ~10 seconds. Not bad right?

Just be careful about rooting mobs that could get your melee dps in trouble if they have unusual weaponskill shapes - not something I'd recommend on really dangerous fights where positioning of everyone is critical, but it's a neat trick to have in your pocket.

For extra style points, use it on Demon Wall when it tries to use Repel, if you trigger it early to avoid lag skip, you're rooted in place and can continue whacking away while your party members bounce back :D

I agree that Cure III is broken. It's useless.

Only reason I ever use it right now is for the crit chance when it comes from using Cure II. I need to do a bit more research on this, but I think the crit amount is higher than what you would get out of a Cure II, though I have no hard numbers for this. Even then I almost never use it.

Not saying it should have the same radius as something like Medica, but something similar would be nice so you don't have to move to get in an aoe heal, especially when that means either taking damage or healing yourself as well when you don't need it at all. Had this happen quite a bit during (end game spoilers)
Ultima Weapon's fight the Garuda/Titan combo followed by his short range aoe attack.

Meh, I don't know what you are asking for. I did farm over 200 times dungeons in WoW...
If they give more ways to have Tomes, people will just farm the easiest way.

I can't speak for everyone, but I rarely say much in the FC chat or join in on FC activities. That's mainly because it seems like the FC is always asking about runs I don't have access to yet. My highest class is 25 (with 3 others at 24), and I'm not rushing to 50, so a lot of what you guys are talking about I haven't experienced yet and don't have access to. I don't think there should be punishment for not being at level cap in under a month (not saying there is).

Also, any posts made here get lost very easily since the thread moves so quickly. I try to check the FC site, but there haven't been many updates that I've seen.

The only people interested in posting about the game are posting about the game right in this thread. The other thread would be mostly dead. It's actually kind of baffling how many people are in the GAF FC on Ultros who don't participate in FC chat, this thread, or on the Guildwork site. I wonder why they're even in the group at all.

I tried to make a UI thread twice and it didint end well.

Y'all should make 3-4 companion linkshells for specific level ranges :)

Wrath V is good to keep up for only when you need it. When you need Inner Beast, go ahead and use it and restack immediately with Infuriate.

I use Inner Beast very frequently - any time it's available and I'm missing around 1000 hit points, I'll hit it, because 99 times out of 100 it results in getting topped off again before the healer can even react. Anything that reduces the amount of maintenance healing you need is a positive, and it hits the enemy pretty hard as well.

So my FC just hit max standing with Ul'dah. Can I switch allegiance to another city state and start building that one, or will our standing with Ul'dah start to diminish in effect?

Thanks!

Okay, Cure III's radius is 4 'yalms'.

Medica II is 20 'yalms'.

Cure III should be at least 15, agreed?

If they would drop the MP cost, I would be content with 8-10 yalms.

I say this mainly because you can get a lot of healing out of it if you have people stacked and either have the Overcure buff or manage to get a crit anyway.

The ability to right click>blacklist needs to exist

Holy shit it does. General chat is unusable, gold sellers spam the channel so fast if you shout anything nobody would even see it. Maybe every few minutes it stops for 10 seconds or so. Someone in my FC recommended adding them to the blacklist- but the names scroll by faster than you can even read them, and when they finally stop, it takes a bit before you can memorize the name and add it, then it starts up again so you can't read the names

Right click their name and select send tell, then change the command in chat input box to /blist add "[NAME]". The right click -> blacklist option definitely needs to be implemented, but in the meantime this is a slightly easier way of adding than remembering their user names.

So anyway,

regular mob killing + a handful fates = general XP experience you'd find in other games. Got together with a few folks in the LS/FC last night and borked around in Natalan killing beastmen. Even with my chocobo out and us spending like 15-20 minutes on 3-maning a level 50 FATE, I walked away with about 3/4ths of my level for 46 -> 47 in about 90 minutes or so. I even had my Chocobo buddy out and the entire time and i got that much.

I'm quite happy doing it that way over just rushing fates and it gives you a chance to shoot the breeze and try some stuff.

Also, I ran Ampador Keep last night through DF and although we failed on the last boss and ran out of time, it was a pretty good learning run though. We had a tank and DPS quit after the first boss because the dumb tank wouldn't grab the squid so we could kill the Priest. Got some reps and it went fairly smoothly after that.

has any mmo ever done randomized end game dungeons/ boss rush? Like each 'floor' is different, map tiles, enemies, or even bosses.

Yes. XI did it with Nyzul Isle.

It wasn't a bad event but it definitely had issues overall.

Click on the name, hit send tell, highlight the name from there and hit CTRL C.

Granted, there are Macro's that can do this faster, but I'm never in front of my home computer when I see them. >_>

Speaking of Nyzul, the design of Nyzul in XI was decent but the design Neo-Nyzul was terrible, with the randomized floor jump values.

Regarding blacklisting gil sell shouters, one tactic mentioned earlier in this thread is to teleport out of town just to have that spam stopped and to allow you to scroll up and see the person's name to blacklist. Go back to town after you've blacklisted the person.

I did a FC run of Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium so we could all finish our story quests. We provided the tanks (one PLD and me on WAR), and healers (one SCH and one WHM), plus a Monk. No one complained about us watching the cutscenes, and once we got settled into a rhythm the pugged DPS did their jobs very well. No wipes at all. Very nice experience and it made the dungeons feel easy.
