Well that kind of sucks. I understand the jobs should be different but I don't want to play one that can't get group invites because I'm not a Paladin tank :/

Oh well I'll stick with it. Not going to give up.
there will be room for both tanks, at 50 pld, I like having a war in group. Going to level up one myself so I can switch between the two when needed.

for those people trying to get the autohotkey to work. remember that you need to save the notepad text as a .ahk file

F1::

Loop
{

Send {Numpad0}
Sleep 3000
}

- download autohotkey
- open new notepad
- copy paste this text
- save as ffxivspam.ahk
- right click the saved file and hit Run Script
- hit F1 at the FFXIV title screen

the icon will look like this if it's done correctly

I know this is frustrating but if you're on ps3 or pc it'll grt better even past the 30 days the game is good you're not committed to paying for a whole year of the game. A couple months is like what? $24 bucks? The game itself is $30/$40 depending on version. I paid for xboxlive for years and most of my time was spent on netflix which required another sub on top of my xboxlive. They'll get it fixed not cause they want to but because they need to. Two failured launches of mmo can't stand even if youre as inept as se no company can look that bad....then again.

Roll a Summoner. Best DPS in the game

You should be ok. Most high level stuff seems 8 man, so paladin and warrior would seem better, instead of stacking paladin.

Which brings me to another question. How does the high level 8man stuff work with two tanks? I know in games like WoW, 2 tank raids usually play around with taunting off each other at certain points to drop stacks of debuffs and what not. I'm kind of new to how the higher player content works in this. I assume it will be different depending on the boss but I'm just kind of curious how this works.

I believe the only real "taunt" is at GLD level 22? Maybe its a good idea to get my GLD up to at least that.

Just out of curiousity, are you guys who are trying to return the game going to eventually buy it again? After the server log in issues are fixed and so on?

Probably, because what little I got to play, I actually enjoy. Although, I feel like I should boycott Square right now because they have been practicing bad business lately.

Sonofabitch what do you know that auto-keyboard program got me in almost instantly after trying the normal way for hours, it really works!

It's probably better to wait until they scrap the servers they have now. I would expect them to shutdown the whole operation for a while and maybe relaunch as a 2.0 to fix all the problems

To be fair, even though it was a stupid reason, they did say that they didnt expect so many people day one, after 1.0 was so bad.

Then again, 1.0 log in servers worked perfectly, so...i dunno. We'll see wednesday.

Excuse me for the noob question, but I can't figure out how to register the game to download the ARR client. I have a serial for the original FFXIV, but, like I said, I can't figure it out. :/ I go to my profile and click Register game, but the code doesn't match the given formats and thus I'm not able to input it.

EDIT: Might have gotten it.

This advice is like accepting a free meal from a place that served you rancid food.

It's not a good analogy, as the game itself is good, you just can't play it at the moment. So it's more like having a nice car to look at without being able to drive it cause the tank is empty - until they give you one week of free gasoline.

I think I hate the way my elf looks, and most males, in a lot of the magey gear. I think I'm going to remake as a female. I just like the way stuff looks on them a lot more.

I had a feeling with the 3 day weekend and a hot new MMO it would get crazy like it has.

Going to play a bit tonight and then tomorrow before the long maintenance period, then hoping it will die down once the new servers are in and people have to go back to work.

Key word = hoping

Male Elezen only look good in Dragoon gear. True story. Also, mages have to be female. Always. Or Lalafells.

Or it's a food place that keeps throwing everyone out if they can't get to the counter to place their order. And is full because people won't leave in case they get hungry and want to eat more. Then when they finally figure out LINES and throwing out the people just sitting in there all day they'll give a coupon for free food as consolation.

I'm still debating what I should put my Attribute Points into for my White Mage. MND is obvious, but what about Piety?

My analogy stands based on the evidence that S-E can not run this game for a global audience, ever. The only evidence to the contrary is "because they said so"

If you have a legacy character, what's the deal with the "dated" gear? Is it simply to designate it as 1.0 stuff, or does it have a negative effect on stats?

Relaunch of an MMO thats been running for 2 weeks

It's essentially a launch, new server infrastructure from what I understand, completely new way of doing just about everything. Plus, it appears that the game is far more popular than anyone ever expected. Remember the 230,000 concurrent users is more than Square has ever had for one of their games, and roughly 50 servers. SWOTOR had issues nearly 4x the servers in 2 regions and 350,000 concurrent. No one was expecting FFXIV relaunch to be in the SWTOR level of popularity. Hell, outside of China, which is its own special thing, WOW rarely got over 550,000. We're looking at about 4800k per server right now, which is pretty huge for an MMO IIRC.

Your analogy implies the content's terrible, when really it's more like the service was terrible. Granted there's FFXIV v1, but even that sounded more like it was just bad food rather than rancid. Rancid's Anarchy Online's launch or something.

Yeah, I can't be too mad since I love SE and want this game to be successful. Sucks for now, but for something I'll be playing for years, this is just a tiny blip that I'll laugh about in a few months. I just hope it doesn't have a lasting impact on new people playing.

Does this help?:

1 Piety = 8 MP at Lv. 50

Yeah, there is really no point to stacking piety, the amount you would need to have it relevant renders it worthless. I have never gone OOM, and I have done all content up to level 47, including the optional dungeons. The only time you would want more mana is with a bad tank, and if you are doing end game stuff with a bad tank, then you have bigger issues than needing another 1/8 of the cost of a spell cast.

just being in game with this amount of people running around is kinda crazy, even for launch period. the only time I'm ever alone is in the Inn. then there's the GAF members, almost always one on screen.

How easy is the setup for PS3 when using a PC legacy account? Currently playing the PC version but will order the PS3 one as well. I'd rather not mess anything up when using PSN and Square Enix IDs.
