Did you love the theme for him as much as I did?

I'm tempted to re-do the fight just to hear it [since I'm not geared/leveled enough for HM]. The OST cannot release soon enough for me.

First thing I noticed about Titan - the music! Loved it.

Does this game work well on a PC with a 360 controller? Wanna see if it's comfy couch friendly.

Definitely - it's plug and play with native 360 gamepad support. The game works rather well with a gamepad, but I prefer the KB/M since it's faster to access menus and I've got a G600 mouse for my hotkeys.

I wish you could skip cutscenes... it gets annoying redoing some of them.

I skip cutscenes on PC using ESC, not sure how you'd go about doing so on PS3.

I can't rage enough about how stupid their armor texture progression is...Seriously!
AK stuff looks like something a peasant would wear (at least on my WHM), Darklight is ok even though it gives off a very strong Wannabe-Assassin's Creed-thing.

The best looking armor, besides AF, obviously, is the low level dungeon one. Both Acolyte (From Sastasha) and Battlemage (from Brayflox) set are so much better than anything else you get later on in terms of look.

So.stupid :/

Also, why does the Ifrit weapon have a cool glow effect yet the Garuda one looks totally mundane? -.-

You can, with esc but I assume you meant completely negate them after a while? There should be an option that you can check to disable CS after you watched it at least ones.

so I gotta level up Thamurtage all the way to 26 for Swiftcast? drat, ahhh well...might as well get it out of the way sooner rather than later.

Normal fate progression in a group should get you there within a few hours. Didn't take long for me :)

Also, I might be weird but I love the Ultima Fight and AK Bosses. The more stuff they throw at you the better :D

im at 100 leve allowances

aer there any leves that are quick to do and get me good gil on level 50 dow classes? not gonna use for xp

also what's that site that shows emnity build up numbers on skills?

<sigh> I would be playing this right now, but SE's account setup is just all kinds of ass. So I have to wait until Friday to play again. Ugh.

Okay, so, I hit 48 today, and got my Magitech armor. Well, more or less anyway. It seems I won't get free access to it until I finish the story Castrum storyline in Mor Dhona, but I get the impression that I'm not too far off from finishing that.

After that, I think I'll try Aurom Vale, or whatever the heck it's called, tomorrow.

Not sure how close I am to the end, but it feels like I'm getting close to the endgame.

you're 1 stews close to the end

As weird and annoying it is, Titan's build up sort of makes some sense in the end. The other examples of the game dragging out storylines, not so much. What's really weird is that you spend so much time doing stuff like that while the villains are busy not getting any screen time.

Gaius's various supporting cast members were criminally under-used. It would have been a lot more interesting if they had been developed even a tiny bit before you finished the story.

.....Stews?

You'll see.

I just assumed the look of the last dungeon sets were as unfinished as the entire end seems now. I mean the gear doesn't even fit with each other in the same set. Darklight on the other hand looks boss as fuck. Like it for some classes more then AF by a longshot.

Im confused about the jobs.

I played FF11 so if someone can explain it in FF11 terms I might understand it better.

I am looking online and it seems only some jobs can be equipped with others jobs? So for example you cant be a PLD/WHM in FF14 but you can in FF11 (even though it would be a useless combo)

So I am an Arcanist and now I have to choose between being a Summoner or Scholar right? I cant take Arcanist to 50?

So lets say I choose Scholar, how does the subjob work? Like FF11 when you are lvl 10 SCH you are lvl 5 ARC? Basically I want to know what skills/traits i can take with me

I hate that it' a cowl - the Vanya set is actually cooler looking but that's a matter of taste I guess. Also, unfortunately, Vanya is not as good as DL or AF2. AF2 is boring as hell as well but it's in true FF style..so *shrug*

And I hope you are right on the "not finished". AK gear is fugly..
It also makes for some hilarious combos since the AF pants don't have any texture at all..

In 14, jobs are more like specializations of the normal classes than their own unique class like in 11. An Arcanist can either equip a Summoner crystal to be a Summoner, or a Scholar crystal to be a Scholar, but both Jobs still give experience to the base Class, which is Arcanist. So playing as either one gives experience to both. When you unlock the crystals at Arcanist level 30, both jobs retain the same level as the base class, so they both also start at 30.

The cross-specialization comes in the way of skills rather than the jobs themselves. Ex: A Paladin can use certain actions from both Conjurers and Marauders, but only after you've learned them on their respective classes. You don't actually "equip" them as a sub-class like you did in 11, just the actions.

What bothers me about all the end game gear is that its nothing but recolors. Darklight is mostly the same for each class role, just recolored. AF+1 is just recolored AF. Coil gear is also just 4 sets recolored.

Hopefully, the Coil stuff is just placeholder and they've got unique sets in the pipe for 2.1.

And to make matters worse you can't even dye anything. So everyone and their mother looks like clones :/

After finally getting to a point in the Titan HM fight where everyone survives after the heart I thought it was finally over in terms of "OH GOD THEY'RE ALL DYING, SPAM 1 & 2! MEDICA, BENEDICTION! ALL THE HEALS!".

Boy was I wrong.

Maybe you shouldn't think of a job like a FF11 job :)

A "job" in FF14 is actually just a piece of equipment you wear, and if you do, it activates your job. Your class name and icon change to represent this fact, for example a Marauder becomes a Warrior, but you will still continue to gain experience to your base class (Marauder) and your job level is equal to your base class level.

If you want to know what classes can become what jobs, I recommend looking at http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Category:Jobs

The only limitation of a job is that you can only equip 5 cross class skills, and they must be from your subclass or optional class.

edit: kind of beaten :p

Most classes have one job that you can specialize into (except for Arcanist which has the two you mentioned).
If you equip a job (say Scholar) your main class will still level up with it as well, automatically. You don't have to equip the job stone. You can just play the Arcanist if you want but you will loose out on some pretty strong skills. Basically you get your class skills and the job skills on top of them.

Also, you don't have to settle for one job. You can unlock them all and switch them at your hearts content. I am currently working on getting Scholar since I already have White Mage maxed, for example. It just means you need to level more classes past lvl 30 and max them if you want their respective jobs maxed :)

I am starting to have serious beef with some of the lvl 50 battle designs. It's really stupid to create encounters where a specific setup makes a fight trivial and another makes it almost impossible to beat..bad thinking, Sqenix..
Not to mention it makes wannabe elitists even worse. Ifrit fight is really not that hard yet people leave immediately because "OMG no BLM!! OMG no Paladin!!".
Beat it in a pug yesterday with two warriors, a bard, two WHMs and three dragoons :p

Oh I think it makes more sense now thinking of it as equipment rather than a job. But this caught my attention. You can only have 5 skills of the other job at any time?

So lets say I leveled my arcanist to lvl 50 and my scholar is lvl 50. can i equip the a lvl 50 skill from scholar to my lvl 50 arcanist?

btw you guys said if i lvl up scholar my arcanist lvls up as well. but is it the same if its the opposite? if i lvl scholar will my arcanist lvl up as well?

Sorry but this was a bit confusing :p

Scholar, Summoner and Arcanist are one and the same. They share the same base Arcanist actions, and getting experience for either Job gets you experience for the base Arcanist class. You Job's level will always be the same as your class's level.

The 5 cross-skills you can get are from 2 other pre-determined non-arcanist classes.

No joke.... I just had a tank that was a level 44 Marauder in Darkhold/ We wiped like 5 times to the last boss cause he kept getting two shot. I asked him why he wasn't a warrior and he said, "Because I'm not a warrior".

So this is what you guys mean by bad tanks.

i'm leveling a pug currently. yesterday i had an ogre pal tanking in halatali. he could hold aggro on one mob, he didn't give a shit about the others. healer kept dying and left after 7 minutes. that was my first taste of random tank since open beta. the next three random dungeon runs were good-great, can't complain.

Considering I'm also a marauder: by what dungeon should I switch over to Warrior?

It really irks me when I see bad tanks. I beat myself up on PLD when I do something absolutely silly and wipe a raid. Last night I got turned around in Binding Coil and pulled a large aoe into the raid and wiped us. ; ; Felt like total shit.

Then I queue up on BLM and see what a really bad tank is.

ASAP at level 30 might wanna hold off on Haukke just to make it a little easier.

I did Haukke as a Marauder. I had no problem tanking its mobs or the attacks of the boss. I did always make sure we only had three enemies at a time.

I was in a party earlier with a Paladin in full AF armor in a level 30ish dungeon and he couldn't keep hate so the healer died in first 5 minutes of the run. He also wouldn't mark his targets and ended up leaving half way in the dungeon.

I put up duty finder for the dungeon and it was with a Warrior around my level (30ish) that marked all his targets and kept hate perfectly throughout the run. The best tank I've seen so far.

Goes to show you that it's not always the best gear that makes the player.

I tried to play the game on PS3 a few times this weekend and..

if you're playing this game on PS3 and you have a capable PC, you're doing yourself a disservice.

you shouldn't though. tanks are allowed to make mistakes like any other class. it's fine as long as you don't repeat them all the time.

this gets me the most; tanks not only not holding aggro but then ignoring every mob except the one they start attacking first. it's happened more than a couple times now, tank attacks, mobs swarm him, i heal and BAM every mob is on me except the first one. tank happily ignores me while i now tank and heal him and me. sometimes the dps will try to save me but that usually descends into a shit show. if any tank out there is reading this, this is what a bad tank is.

Gaius too.
He doesnt do shit in the whole game.

Which area does Odin show up? Is it a time spawn NM like FFXI?

Its a FATE. Its spaw in random locations over all the Black Shroud.

I had a tank doing that in the Stone Vigil dungeon. Every pull was a wipe because the healer kept dying. I don't know how he made it that far in the story.
