Damn... the titan DF queue is so toxic now... people just leave at a drop of a hat. Like before the first fail even occurs. No time for group to gather rhythm and have a good go at it.

And it's always the healers.

Plus they've started shouting in town for titan paid runs...

Hey now, I had a great terrible DF with a healer. We watched as our tank, who started naked, put on their gear piece by piece. Then waited 10 minutes as we got no response from the tank only to wish each other luck with our next groups and leave.

lol. Well, at least it was amusing. Not the typical - someone died on first run? Time to quit run.

This'll sound dumb but whatever: A friend came over here tonight, and we kind of got into a mini-Lan party. He plugged his PC in and played FF while I was playing FF. Yay. However that's two accounts logged on the same connection. Nothing bad can happen from that right? We were just playing normally.

No, that's perfectly fine AFAIK.

Got a Garuda wand tonight for my WHM, comforting to see that, as far as I can find using the database, there are a whopping two shields better than my awkward level 41 raptor targe I had left over. One is a craftable that contains materials worth over a million gil and the other is from bahamuts coil.

Killer itemization in this game.

Nah Tiv, I enjoyed those CM with ya, nothing with ya'll

Too many cliques, favoritism abound, I see from my perspective

I feel like I'm always odd man out, so whats the point in being an FC were you are always the stranger, 3rd wheel to others groups

Better to try to find a FC that at least will work cohesively and appreciate my play

When others try to cock-block you from joining groups were they feel insecure that I might lot on their weapon or some shit, it's not a good place to be

If anything I'll just server transfer out to maybe Sar or Excali if nothing comes to be

Im kinda surprised to hear that...unless it's something going on at higher level stuff.

I've seen nothing but lovely stuff from GAF but then again, I am not at endgame. It's pretty obvious that cliques will inevitably form. We'll see what happens then

I haven't experienced any sort of favoritism in the GAF FC whatsoever. Every time I log in everyone is always super welcoming and just wants to play and help each other. It's exactly what I wanted coming from XI. That's a real shame that you feel that way Graverobber.
Everyone has been super awesome about CM and AK and Garuda runs at least. I've been really glad that people have trusted me with single tanking CM runs at least. Only had 1 or 2 bad experiences with that so far and I really don't give a shit about bad runs as long as they get done.

What's the class balance like at endgame currently?

Warrior needs tune-ups and there's a huge discrepancy between risk/reward and skill-cap for melee vs. ranged, but otherwise it's solid enough. I guess the general question when it comes to XIV's class balance is how much are you willing to put up with to play your class of choice, for some spots.

This early in there's plenty of little quality of life issues on damn near everything though. I wouldn't mind seeing a class pass in 2.1. After watching XI rot the way it did, I have a fear when it comes to class tuning. How hands on they are or arent is gonna be a big piece of whether I keep my sub rolling or not.

Boo, first day since launch where I had no compulsion to log in and play. Too lazy to find a BC group (they all seem to have tank spots filled anyways) and I don't really want to run CM/Prae all day.

Melee - OH FUCK AOE AOE OH FUCK RUN RUN AWAY

Ranged - I'll just move away in a second

Healers - Fine but different

Tanks - Different but Warrs could use a buff

Funny enough, Warrior is my class of choice (though I listed DRG on the google doc). I'll manage, I tend to like playing the underdog classes anyway.

You can mostly manage, yeah, just gotta work your ass off. Titan is the main pain in the ass Warriors will face in getting groups., lot working against you getting spots on that fight in most groups.

Main thing to do is to convince a group to let you go as DPS, but the game doesn't let you roll on or buy any DPS gear, so I hope you've been leeching it off of greeds. Fun fun.

Scholar 45.

Sacred Soil effect is so cool. <3 But why must the AF be so ugly? I look like a Harry Potter cosplay gone wrong. :(

Most likely they checked everyone gears and noticed someone wearing level 20 rings or AF. Titan has HP and DPS check.

I'm finally ready for the beginning.. :D

And a particular screen titled 'climbing the mountain of corpses' lol (aka odin)

This is a game without a spam filter

And without a right click report option that eventually auto-mutes players who get blacklisted enough

SE does not understand how to handle gold spammers, and you only need to visit their account management nightmare webpage to understand they don't understand customer support either

To be honest, you aren't going to want a system that automatically does things like that either since you are playing a mmo, where the community can be filled with large groups of people that are complete assholes and would use that just to get someone banned they don't like.

But yes, a right click report spam button that auto blacklists them for you till you log out next would be a godsend.

The voice acting is terrible in this. I wish there was an option for JP voices. Gaius, for example, is voiced by Otsuka Akio (Solid Snake in Japan). Meanwhile, we get some bland textbook narrators or some shit. Cid, Minfilia, these are supposed to be important characters, dammit.

Oh well. Enjoyed the ending regardless and all the fan service from past FFs that piles up toward the end.

There is. I changed it before I started playing :)
It's under system settings.

I have no idea what happened, but you're not exactly making yourself a good guy with these statements. I agree though that sometimes an FC is not for you but man, talk about burning bridges.

Amusingly enough apparently the Japanese players feel the same and many switched over to the English voices.

:P

An imagination is so much better when you have a chance to use it. I didn't mind the lack of voice acting throughout and wouldn't have been upset if it just wasn't included. When I actually heard their voices, it reminded me of how good the voice in your head can be. Old FFs, before voice acting was such a pervasive part of video games, you had to read everything and just say it out in your head. I found myself doing that a lot in the story in FF14 and I enjoyed it for the most part.

Titan was a difficult fight, but now it feels like getting anyone to go to CM or AK so I can get the tomes to finish the relic quest is even more difficult.

I'm always up for CM and AK when I'm on. The problem is many people spam their AK runs early in the week and get capped, then they don't want to run anymore for obvious reasons later in the week when other people are looking.

Speaking of CM, a well-geared group can clear Praetorium about 10 minutes faster than CM. So these days, you should look for Prae runs instead of CM runs.

Leviathan has become so bad that I have had to disable tells and shout or else I get completely flooded with spam. The fact they haven't done anything big yet is pretty unreal, it's completely destroying my love for the game.

NO! Don't make excuses and rationalizations for terrible behaviour. This is half the reason the community is so fucking terrible in late game.

Mor Dhona shouts: "LFM Titan HM, needs to be exp, needs to be geared."

Duty Finder: healer sees inexperienced, undergeared party member, ragequits within a minute of starting duty.

6 other people waiting with thumbs up their asses for duty finder to pop again so that they can have a 0.5 attempt before the next healer quits.

Meanwhile in Mor Dhona: "WTS Titan HM wins, 800k."

I'm not high enough level to experience cliques yet but I had my share in GW2 before I left, so I know where you're coming from. The way I see people interacting in the FC and this thread it's hard to imagine it being that bad though (people seem helpful and willing to run things with anyone overall). Sorry you felt that way, wish you the best wherever you end up.

But the way I see people interacting in the FC and this thread with Aeana and various others offering to run things with pretty much anyone, and FC events open to all it's hard to imagine it being so bad to drive you away. Sorry you felt that way though, wish you the best wherever you end up.

Yeah. I don't see how cliques are such a bad thing anyway, def not with how this game is structured. Truth is, this is a 500 person guild in a game that only supports very small group content -- you almost need to find a small slice of people you can depend on if you want to accomplish anything.

Despite that, I've seen a tremendous of effort by a lot of people to help others just because they want to help fellow GAFers.

that was a lot of words just to say find 7 good players

and i don't think that's a mystery to anyone
Hah, it's late, I'm about to workout and hyped on preworkout. There's also a reason my tag on old GAF was, "GAF's Stephen King".

Anyway. It's the most depressing thing to see a DPS or Healer die before heart phase. I don't quit groups over it, but damn it makes me want to sometimes.

It's not about being good, it's about learning. I'm fine with wiping if people actually learn the fight.

I never understood this thing of telling people they are "burning bridges" when someone points out something skep as if that's supposed to mean something. I don't really see what is making him not a good guy in that post either.

i'm usually bored quite fast with playing an MMO but i must say this one is looking tempting

only thing holding me back atm is the monthly subscription

well after wasting like two days just grinding up mining, armorer, chef and blacksmith I actually went and leveled my real class again. Went from 22 to 30 and now I'm a Paladin, but I'm gonna be away from home for most of the next 4 days. Oh well, I need to let my levequests accrue before I tackle leveling Armorer again and it's actually pretty fun making HQ gear that I can use while leveling.

Also ugh, my BC group was getting closer and closer to beating turn 4 and we decided to take a break for reset.

I don't really like raiding, but I was kinda enjoying getting so close to seeing 5.

Ugh this post. Learn Titan's patterns, stop using DF. Have patience.

The point is that the players have constructed a catch 22 situation.

Groups shouting for people to have experience... and Duty finder people expecting people to be experienced.

At what point does a new player get to actually learn the fight?

Nonetheless, I do actually know the fight well, and am geared, and at least had enough patience to try a few premades and dozens of DF groups.

But as a tank, the fight only needs one, and it's not really down to me if the people are able to dodge shit or not.

So maybe, you just need to get a clue and understand how this is frustrating to others?
