What? Of course that's only if you're a min/maxer! What else would I be talking about? People aren't asking anything else. They're asking if it's worth the effort in comparison to the alternatives. The answer to that is clearly "no, not right now". You could chain run Amdapor and have full ilvl 70 (except for weapon) faster than anyone doing crafting. You could then parley that into raiding Bahamut dungeon and getting ilvl 90 gear, which the crafter cannot match.

Oh, ok then.

Well, I still disagree that crafting isn't worth it. Not enough information on the caps on individual gear and the like currently. The upper end information in general is still lacking beyond the known stuff like where to get things. So I can agree with lootables being better as we currently know it but I don't really agree that we'll need an update to crafting to make it viable, at least with the information we have currently.

Is there something going on with the servers? This is the longest I've been spamming 0 without getting on and seems odd for a Tuesday afternoon.

Edit: I know Tier IV materia is out but are the Tier 5s available? If so, then uh, I think you can get something that's pretty much an i90, lol

Tier V is in the dats and they have +10 on base stats AFAIK. Probably only obtain them by Spiritbinding and converting....wait for it...i70 crafted gear!

I've got one. They take some getting used to. I used it for a while with Guild Wars 2 but to be honest I found it didn't have enough buttons.

I think Id run into that same issue using one of those.
They look like theyre made for your left hand and, tbh, my left hand is fine as it is. Its my right hand that I think needs to be doing more, which is why I got an MMO mouse.

I tried skimming through the OP and this thread, but could not find what I was looking for...

I downloaded the client, ran the client, provided my account information, but when I try to use my FFXIV 1.0 key code, it says "The entered code has already been registered.".

I thought original FFXIV owners could reuse their key codes?

Have you ever redeemed that FFXIV 1.0 game code? If so, are you using the same account that you redeemed it to?

Definitely the case, I think. Once stat caps of i70 crafted gear are more widely known (I mean, I have no idea what they are and I am not sitting on mountains of coke/potash/etc. to experiment with, or I would try) we may find SE wasn't kidding about crafting being viable as the "x.5" tier type of equipment.

I think the final verdict really needs to be held until we know the stat caps on i70 gear because once melded they may be better "enough" to be worth pursuing. It sounds like Keep is already being farmed by some groups and they probably can do it in darklight with a primal or relic weapon (I haven't tried yet).

Yeah, I agree. We still need more information on it all to make a real decision. The game is a week-old and we finally have time to dig into it and discover some of this stuff out that's been changed.

Tash, Wufei, I hope you both use this maintenance time to get back in the gym :P I know I will!

Have you ever redeemed that FFXIV 1.0 game code? If so, are you using the same account that you redeemed it to?
Yes I did. I played it for about a month.

Under the Mog station it says something like this:
Tab name: FINAL FANTASY XIV 2

Standard
Remaining Days : 7 days

You have no Veteran Rewards.

Other Received Bonus Items
・Garlond Goggles

Use the joystick to move and the top two rows for an action bar. Bind SHIFT/ALT/CTRL to buttons on your mouse to access even more action bars. Use the other buttons for leftover important stuff and keep your keyboard around for minor things.

I'd get it out again but I'm enjoying playing with my 360 pad. Might give it another go sometime

Sitting in a queue for chat support to (hopefully) sit in a queue to play the game; the irony is delicious.

Anyway, REALLY hoping that the maintenance fixes the issues, I really do.

well gw2 you have like... 1 hotkey bar total lol. maybe something like WoW or SWTOR with many hotbars of skills?

It's not just hotbars though. There's an entire range of things you'd normally do with your keyboard that you need to bind. It's designed to replace the entire keymap of games.

Are you playing this too? On Ultros? I actually skipped the gym yesterday even though my back is better and I went the 2 previous days. Wanted to play as much as I could before maintenance.

Wtf, the ps3 launcher doesn't support resuming? The ps3 crashed, had to log in again, and it starts the patches all over again? Not cool.

I would be perfectly fine if every tier's x.5 was crafted, if there was Allagan tier crafted then I think crafting would be objectively worth it, but there are still some issues with it that need to be addressed. Most importantly is that all the trades need some end game consumables to sell, period. Probably need those combines on a CD too. I know people hate comparisons to WoW, but this game needs something like the craftable equip-slot specific enchants to sell for each tradeskill.

Not on Ultros yet. On Durandal, jp Legacy. Will hop to Ultros as soon as transfers open as I don't wanna lose my chara.

Good to hear from you brah, you got quiet once the injury happened :( We miss you in Fit-GAF

Finished the main story.

Meh.

Despite the cool presentation and look, the story and the villains were really fucking terrible. I also HATE 8 men content. x_x

whats different from just filter free company in your chat?

At least on Ultros it was created for people who didn't get in the free company before it filled up. They can also be used for a common chat channel for people in different guilds. They are seperate from the free company.

I have been getting diminishing returns on my Alchemy. I was wondering if I could get any advice on switching to Blacksmith? Also is there any DoL that pairs well with that?

FFXIV is almost to that point for me. I filled up my warrior's two full bars with hotkeys, relating only to my class, and still have several more abilities to learn since I'm only level 42. It doesn't help that Flash and Provoke are mandatory parts of my toolkit and they come from the Gladiator.

Stick with Alchemy for sure, the end-game consumables aren't going to be plentiful. Armorsmithing pairs great with Mining since that's the profession that converts ores to ingots, which are used by a lot of crafts.

My patience is running out. Spamming 0 all day long is really starting to get to me. And I can't seem to get the autohotkey script working either. Don't understand what I'm doing wrong. :/

you know... i have a g700, but i haven't really been mapping keys on it... gcd is slow enough, that i find clicking my skills to work out better somehow here.

If they're really adding more capacity to the existing servers, then it should at least reduce the problem, even if it doesn't erase it entirely. Part of it depends on JUST how much they underestimated demand. I mean, for context here.

It sounds like they have about 60 servers total, each with a capacity of about 5000 people, so right now they can roughly host 300K people, before things start to become unstable.

Well, if they increase capacity by a thousand, that is 360K concurrent users, increase capacity by two thousand and it becomes 420K concurrent users. Thats of course, before they add any additional Worlds, which they've confirmed they're going to do, hopefully they'll start offering free Server Transfers to those worlds as well.

So, if they're only a little below where they need to be, and they add 60K capacity, that itself might do the trick. If they under-estimated things BADLY though, then even 120K extra capacity might not do it, though it'd certainly help.

All trades have consumables to sell. Materia are consumables, thus so is equipment which is where materia come from.

It took me eight hours on Saturday running the script to get in. Even though it should be easier today it is still all about luck. You might just want to wait until tomorrow when the maintenance is over. I would expect them to at least have a functional queue which will relieve a lot of the frustration.

Some major cooldowns I will click, but there's so much movement that I can't really afford to use the mouse for anything else. This is especially true if you're playing a melee DPS, which have lots of positional attacks, or a tank.

Oh hell yes it can be. But that means some dedication. Endgame gathering requires to to locate nodes that only spawn at certain times of day. But you'll also need to gear that can gather the high quality materials. No quality sells as well too. The richest currently are indeed the ones that have crafting and gathering

Thanks. Those random nodes seems slightly annoying but other than that it seems like atleast i could survive with a DoL.

Finally got around to applying for the GAF FC. Looking forward to playing with everyone!

On a side note, my lesson for the day: Be careful when crafting materia. I desynthed the robes right off my back. ;_;

I changed the PID to right number. Doesn't seem to do anything.

Ok so it looks like everything is tied to that account.
Have you tried just straight up logging into the client with that account? I dont think you have to redeem any codes.

Crafting's worth it if you're willing to spend time doing it, and for me personally provides a relaxing break, plus I like being able to give friends gear and offer reasonably priced goods.

There are probably some people who will focus mainly on crafitng/gathering and only battle inasmuch as they need to for materials, or to help friends out. I appreciate that FFXIV lets you do that, if you want to.

No worries, does it have a group finder tool or anything, or do you have be annoying and ask in chat for groups?

Yeah, Duty Finder will match you up automatically.

It has the duty finder which is cross-server and will automatically group you with people and dump you in the instance. Though the quality of those groups can vary greatly, so it can be much less of a headache to try and bring your own group if you can.

What interests me are the caps on the items between i49 and if we'll get more meldable gear with a slightly higher ilevel (that don't use ridiculous items to craft). If the caps aren't too bad on them, they can provide some real flexibility in making equivalent and custom gear without breaking people's backs. Then combined with specialized food, you can increase the performance in the manner that works for you.

I use macros for a lot of my canned rotations now so I can avoid pressing a ton of buttons. I only leave the ones I know I need to press manually on the hotbar like single abilities or ones I can use instantly.

All trades have consumables to sell. Materia are consumables, thus so is equipment which is where materia come from.

If they end up adding more materia back in or specialized ones, then there'll be a lot of consumables for everyone, lol.

Thanks. I don't know anyone. Why I asked about if GAF had a guild somewhere. I definitely won't be playing a healer or tank, for that very reason you mentioned.
