Yes, they are trying to tank it. Last week when they saw these problems, they had a meeting and said "how can we make this worse?"
I'm sure that's exactly what happened.
In some ways it seems improved. More people are able to log on first try. Others are still getting the same old errors, and the old 3102 error that lasts for hours has returned as well, which may actually have us in a worse situation in aggregate than before.Just arrived to home, I guess things aren't better seeing some posts....but what's going on exactly?
Still no queues? Getting spammed by 1017's...
What's so horrible about having queues in the hundreds, maybe thousands? Constantly trying to get IN the queue is only causing more server load.
Still stuck in 3102 after logging out of lodestone and forums, even logged out of the 1.0 lodestone. I've also tried making a new character, but I get 3102 even when I try to make a new character on a new server. I restarted the client multiple times due to the 2002, even restarted my PC.
I had a low dps group - well a high dps monk and a very dull witted Bard that probably did less damage than the tank - and we never finished the instance. First time thats happened to me, was a very frustrating shock.
It definitely seems like they may not actually have staff with the know-how to fix this completely.

Why would any of that fix 3102?
And yet 90% of launches are trainwrecks.Well it's obvious they didn't figure out how to make things better in those meetings. 2 weeks after launching and with suspended sales they can't manage their game? This isn't their first rodeo, the industry has been putting these games out for over a decade now.
It seems likely that there's some major fundamental issue. At some point you have to wonder if there is something very wrong with the netcode or server setup. Otherwise that error should have been fixed by now.
A brony was /shouting this during Coerthas FATE grinding:
"yeah i'm glad it's so hard to log in and play this game, those WoW players need to fuck off, they'll get so impatient they'll just leave and we won't have to deal with them anymore..."
"fake final fantasy fans, what a joke, so sorry you can't log in lol fuck off /brohoof"

People underestimate the difficulty of networking.

I think it'll work out to be the same (or better), because the distribution of healers and tanks should, in theory, be about the same across all servers. May not be exactly so in practice, but it shouldn't be dramatically worse. So with the whole group 1 and 2 separation for the duty servers it will probably make it that much more longer for DPS to find more players in the Duty finder.

I think you've mistaken the tone of my comment. Then you hire someone with the knowledge to fix it asap.

I think I understand that.
I also understand that for 2 weeks we have been told that 3102 have been fixed several times and yet it still happens...
More likely, SE way underestimate the number of players. They probably expected X and go what seems like 5-10X that amount. Now, they are scrambling add more servers, but that takes time. When you have piss off paying customers, patience is not something they want to hear.
I think you've mistaken the tone of my comment.
I think what blows my mind the most is that not only has the industry been doing MMOs for more than a decade, but Square-Enix itself has had FFXI running for more than 11 years. And yet issues around user management and this type of stuff continue to be a cluster.
People underestimate the difficulty of networking.
This is a trainwreck that is going for almost two weeks now.
I have been one of the most supporters in the initial days but at this point it smells like incompetency.
So, now i have the "you are still logged in error" is it true that this error only goes away once they reset the servers -.-
Can you at least play with someone in your friends list, if they are on a different server? WoW has that feature. I see Leviathan and Gligamesh pop up all the time for play, but I was still waiting on Ultros, but that never turns blue.
Don't know if I should just wait, or just start a character on an available server.

I have a 670 (I don't actually know how this stacks up to the 780 but I assume it's worse) and I get 60 FPS at 1080p most of the time. Only time I don't is when there's a crapton of players on the screen. Is anyone here with anything less than a GTX 780 able to max the settings and hit 1080p/60fps?

Look, GW2 suffered from connection issue on the first night, that's totally equivocal!
I think it's pretty obvious that this launch has been terrible, especially by recent MMORPG but I think people should also consider this really isn't like any other MMORPG release ever. It make sense they've been so cautious about not overspending on servers and kept their simultaneous user estimates so conservative given this whole thing is essentially a desperation move to compensate for the terrible release of FFXIV 1.0. I think a couple of weeks or even a month to figure out the server needs is understandable (as long as users are compensated) and as for the new errors, obviously unforeseen issues can occur after big updates as long as they can fix them in a timely manner they shouldn't be an issue.
