So, now i have the "you are still logged in error" is it true that this error only goes away once they reset the servers -.-

Still stuck in 3102 after logging out of lodestone and forums, even logged out of the 1.0 lodestone. I've also tried making a new character, but I get 3102 even when I try to make a new character on a new server. I restarted the client multiple times due to the 2002, even restarted my PC.

Yes, they are trying to tank it. Last week when they saw these problems, they had a meeting and said "how can we make this worse?"
I'm sure that's exactly what happened.

Yes, I'm being pessimistic. The game has an amazing foundation, I love it. I'm just very dismayed but how it's being handled in typical early-XI fashion. They're just preventing people from playing it and really falling in love with it when you have GTA5 coming out in 2 weeks and new consoles coming out in 2 months.

Just arrived to home, I guess things aren't better seeing some posts....but what's going on exactly?
In some ways it seems improved. More people are able to log on first try. Others are still getting the same old errors, and the old 3102 error that lasts for hours has returned as well, which may actually have us in a worse situation in aggregate than before.

Still no queues? Getting spammed by 1017's...

What's so horrible about having queues in the hundreds, maybe thousands? Constantly trying to get IN the queue is only causing more server load.

A brony was /shouting this during Coerthas FATE grinding:

"yeah i'm glad it's so hard to log in and play this game, those WoW players need to fuck off, they'll get so impatient they'll just leave and we won't have to deal with them anymore..."

"fake final fantasy fans, what a joke, so sorry you can't log in lol fuck off /brohoof"

We killed Cyclopes after that and I got my fat puk minion, really cute :P

Why would any of that fix 3102?

I had a low dps group - well a high dps monk and a very dull witted Bard that probably did less damage than the tank - and we never finished the instance. First time thats happened to me, was a very frustrating shock.

don't be frustrated. my first random group got wooped a few times on the way there. then a couple of wipes at the boss. healer left as well. so we had one last try with a replacement and got smoked once more, before the time out. i think two summoners didn't do so well as dd. still, it was nice to learn the dungeon.

At some point you have to wonder if there is something very wrong with the netcode or server setup. Otherwise that error should have been fixed by now.

Well it's obvious they didn't figure out how to make things better in those meetings. 2 weeks after launching and with suspended sales they can't manage their game? This isn't their first rodeo, the industry has been putting these games out for over a decade now.
And yet 90% of launches are trainwrecks.

LOL. Got damn @ the WoW hate.

All I know is this is my first real MMO and I was planning to play the shit out of it for the next couple months since there are about zero games coming out I give a fuck about until the end of October. Square is fucking up my plans right now.

It definitely seems like they may not actually have staff with the know-how to fix this completely.

It seems likely that there's some major fundamental issue.

You're killing my hope here.

And yet 90% of launches are trainwrecks.

This is a trainwreck that is going for almost two weeks now.

I have been one of the most supporters in the initial days but at this point it smells like incompetency.

Quite funny since one of the objectives was to fix the netcode and the awful 1.0 servers.

(And when you are inside the game is actually WAY better, still some of these errors are inexcusable at this point)

What's the issue since the patch/maintenance last night, now? I guess I'm lucky cause I just got in first try. It put me in a queue of 1 and loaded straight in with no errors.

So with the whole group 1 and 2 separation for the duty servers it will probably make it that much more longer for DPS to find more players in the Duty finder.

This isn't their first rodeo, the industry has been putting these games out for over a decade now.

I think what blows my mind the most is that not only has the industry been doing MMOs for more than a decade, but Square-Enix itself has had FFXI running for more than 11 years. And yet issues around user management and this type of stuff continue to be a cluster.

People underestimate the difficulty of networking.

Or people don't give a fuck. They want what they paid for to work. once you've taken the consumer's money, the product better work. We're two weeks since the game's come out and I've got a lot of friends who have yet been able to log in because of this crap.

For the record, I logged in this morning first try, and just to test, logged out and tried to log in again. Got the "you are already logged in error."

It is insane that the lodestone would be in anyway tied to your in game character being logged in on the server. Has the lodestone actually caused similar issues in the past?

It seems likely that there's some major fundamental issue.

Like I said before, their infrastructure probably isn't built to handle the large amount of log-ins, concurrent users, and most likely a flexible way of managing player activities the moment they log in using the applet.

So with the whole group 1 and 2 separation for the duty servers it will probably make it that much more longer for DPS to find more players in the Duty finder.
I think it'll work out to be the same (or better), because the distribution of healers and tanks should, in theory, be about the same across all servers. May not be exactly so in practice, but it shouldn't be dramatically worse.

Getting 3102... Why doesn't it kick you out or initiate logout countdown when you login again? In what situation would preventing a user who knows their password/username from logging in be beneficial? If no maintenance occurs where everyone is kicked from the server I could be stuck in 'logged in status' for days.

People underestimate the difficulty of networking.

More likely, SE way underestimate the number of players. They probably expected / budgeted for X and got what seems like 5-10 times that amount. Now, they are scrambling add more servers, but that takes time. When you have piss off paying customers, patience is not something they want to hear.

Any WHM on that has already melded the material needed to the relic item for the relic quest? I'm curious about the best items to convert to get the materia and how much it cost to get it melded. I know I can do it myself if I have alchemist leveled up to 40+, but if possible, I'd like to avoid doing that unless having someone do it is insanely expensive.

I think I understand that.

I also understand that for 2 weeks we have been told that 3102 have been fixed several times and yet it still happens...

This is the first time 3102 has returned since Phase 4 in a severe case. It's a simple error code saying your character is logged on. We can't even be sure the cause is the same though the end result is the same.

More likely, SE way underestimate the number of players. They probably expected X and go what seems like 5-10X that amount. Now, they are scrambling add more servers, but that takes time. When you have piss off paying customers, patience is not something they want to hear.

Yoshi-P has already said he underestimated the amount of players who were going to buy the game.

Knowing nothing about this stuff, I do wonder why this is the case. Have there really been no major advancements in this technology in the past 10 years that these new MMOs, over and over again, are plagued with login queues, caps, crashes, and just issues all around.

Can you at least play with someone in your friends list, if they are on a different server? WoW has that feature. I see Leviathan and Gligamesh pop up all the time for play, but I was still waiting on Ultros, but that never turns blue.

Don't know if I should just wait, or just start a character on an available server.

Look, GW2 suffered from connection issue on the first night, that's totally equivocal!

I think it's pretty obvious that this launch has been terrible, especially by recent MMORPG but I think people should also consider this really isn't like any other MMORPG release ever. It make sense they've been so cautious about not overspending on servers and kept their simultaneous user estimates so conservative given this whole thing is essentially a desperation move to compensate for the terrible release of FFXIV 1.0. I think a couple of weeks or even a month to figure out the server needs is understandable (as long as users are compensated) and as for the new errors, obviously unforeseen issues can occur after big updates as long as they can fix them in a timely manner they shouldn't be an issue.

Is anyone here with anything less than a GTX 780 able to max the settings and hit 1080p/60fps?

I feel like I should be getting way better performance, but I have to cap at 30 with a GTX 590.

There is no cross-server play as far as I'm aware.

And yet 90% of launches are trainwrecks.

There hasn't been a "trainwreck" of this level for years. Been involved in the launch of most major MMO releases now since WoW and even when there was issues, it often was only a couple days at most or at worse, long wait queue times. You can't even get in a fucking queue in this game and going to be 2 weeks with no fix in sight. People who have paid for the game haven't been able to even play for days. At least with other "trainwrecks", I could log on, and just wait a bit to eventually get in.

I have a 670 (I don't actually know how this stacks up to the 780 but I assume it's worse) and I get 60 FPS at 1080p most of the time. Only time I don't is when there's a crapton of players on the screen.

Unfortunately you can't interact with people on other servers in anyway aside from the duty finder. There isn't even a way to purposefully group with someone on a different server using the duty finder, it's completely random.

What I dont really understand is how they didnt know.

They have the 1.0 sales numbers. They know how many Legacy players they have. And pre-order numbers certainly arent kept a secret from these guys. So how could they look at the launch and say "we didnt see it coming!" when they really should have.

I agree with you in that they probably dont want to overspend because a lot of these people wont be around in 2 weeks but now, by not overspending, theyve created a new nightmare....massive amounts of pissed off people who want to play a game they paid they for.
