GAF Guild on Ultros even though it's many of us and @ max, most of us are strangers to each other

There are cliques within the guild

Some are end game only, some are static and only play with their friends/buddies, some do help and try to improve moving the guild forward by redoing dungeons and helping guildmates out, right now the guild is all over the place

I don't think the bolded is true, like, at all.

pug titan is impossibe

Eh, I pug'd titan, wasn't that bad outside of the SCH that didn't understand how to dodge.

So I just got spammed tells to buy gil for real money

10K for 3.9 USD

How the hell do I report this fool?

I took a screenshot from the log

Guys how are the server issues? I just got the game and I'd prefer to register my free 30 days when I know I can actually play the game for those 30 days.

Wait a few days then, we are getting new server upgrade tomorrow or the day after

So things might calm down hopefully! or they get even worse...

Wow, you're lucky if it's your first. I've been getting this hourly for days now. No report button is a pain in the arse. Not to mention these fools are taking up valuable server space.

You might have to go through the support window from the menu. As there seems to be no other easier way to report folks as of this time.

Another huge mistake as usual. Japanese mmo design in general is very poor with such systems.

Support Desk - Contact Us - Report Harassment.

The fact they don't have two-click player reporting for spam is mind-boggling. I also spotted a gold seller, but luckily he/she was confined to a city space and noone really cared. But since these guys also take up server slots, I hate them just as much as the next server-hogger.

I also saw quite a few GAF guild server-hoggers idling in Lominsa and Gridania. Shame on yous.

Only if you have a shitty tank. Thankfully, I was an awesome tank when I tanked my Titan.

before it was only the dps that was messing up and getting knocked off

ironically the pug i'm in right now is the first time the tank cant even hold aggro on him

I'm at level 20 and my next quest in the main story is
Scions of the Seventh Dawn
. I read that I should stop doing the main quests. Why? And what should I be doing...,more side quests and Fates?

If anything, keep going. Join a Grand Company and get a Chocobo mount to ride around on, all the while taking you places to get more quests and unlocking more dungeons to get EXP and gear in.

Why would you stop doing the main story?

It's just going to hinder you later when you need to backtrack.

The majority of your unlocks come through the main story.

During the weekend, the only time I managed to log on, I finally ran my first PUG instance. The Shalasta or whatever it was called.

It was boring. Rather short, but also tedious and not very thrilling. At least I managed to snag my first green item for my archer - the Pirate's Bandana.

Because I read somewhere that you stop getting experience at level 20. I know that doesn't make sense but the last quest I was on had me at level 19, even though I was really 20, so I thought the game was capping me or something.

I'm a noob to MMo's for the most part so I don't know how they work. Maybe what I read was completely wrong, I don't know.

That was beta when the cap was 20, we're in full release with the cap at 50.

lol graves first rodeo

Gold sellers are par for the course, report and ignore.

It's not that, I know of Gil Sellers, was looking for an easy way to report

Was just strange logging in and not even 5 minutes in get 2 tells back to back, while I was in my Inn shifting stuff from my retainers
Like where the fuck did that come from

Just surprising that's all

The game is capping you because you're too strong for the quest. I like being a bit too high for each quest though as it doesn't seem to lower strength or take away higher level abilities.

I played a gladiator up to level 23 (plus miner up to 19 and conj up to 11) before realizing that tanking is too difficult for me on the PS3 (I have a real hard time switching targets, especially when things get hairy with many adds). Should I just reroll a new character or start leveling up some DPS classes? Is it possible for your main class to be one other than what you started?

Doesn't Gladiator have Flash? That is supposed to be an area attack so you don't need to switch targets. As a Marauder I usually have to make sure I get a lot of Overpowers in at the start of the fight to keep the hate.

lol

This is ridiculous. The past hour I've been cycling 90000 -> 3102 -> 1017 errors.

The servers are so full of AFKers now that they're no longer stable. :-/

first 3 dungeons are pretty boring standard introductory stuff

It does take away abilities you earn past the cap.

That said, you still gain EXP even when capped and it's added on to your character at the original level (unless you're level 50 obviously)

Yep the first dungeon is pretty boring, but I think they did that on purpose to teach people how to play their jobs. Each successive dungeon gets better and better. I think they did a good job of scaling the dungeons to be honest, I hear the later ones get quite tough.

Really? I thought I kept some abilities that should have been locked away at times. I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Man that sunken temple is brutal. The golem there we ran out of time on it. Could not beat the damned thing. Also was having issues due to the archer doing way too much damage so couldnt pull the boss off of everyone.
Its interesting to see that the class that usually manages to piss off a target so much that it pulls away from the tank is the archer.
It seems that a good number of people dont pay attention to the little hate bars on the side in the party status window.

Found this on the sunken temple. Pretty good info

Well, in the open beta the level cap was 20. That's probably what you were reading.

No reason to stop with the main story. It's a consistent source of experience and equipment throughout the leveling process. Or at least it has been for me and I'm in the mid 30's.

Wat till you get in the higher level 20's and optional level 30's dungeons, then I want to see how your reaction is lol
If your group doesn't learn the mechanics and the tendencies for a win, you will Fail... A LOT!

Frustration becomes the norm, once you win, all the sweeter

Absolutely addicted to this game. It really is extremely fun with friends.

Also I like how they build up team work from early instances and dungeons and then ramp up the difficulty later on.

The difference between a good team and a not so good team become so darn apparent.

The most obvious for me was cutters cry dungeon. With 1 team we died non stop on the last boss till time ran out, with another team we won with 0 deaths throughout. Huge difference when people know what they are doing!

Really? I thought I kept some abilities that should have been locked away at times. I'll keep an eye on it tonight.

Fairly certain. I think I first spotted it in Santasha as an over 18 Gladiator. One of the new shield moves was blocked.

Also ran into a boss FATE with my level 21 archer - very low level (3 or 4) so I sync'ed thinking I could use cure to keep myself alive (as oddly, there was no-one else around). Cure was blocked - I think it was because I could only have one additional skill at the level cap, which I had down as Protect.

It definitely takes away abilities. So many times have I been in a sync and tried to use an ability that was locked due to my sync level and been like "argh why doesn't this skill woooooork".

Is the duty finder cross-server? I tried whispering someone I was on a run with afterwards and don't seem to be able to.

Level Sync lowers your level down to whatever level demanded. All skills and abilities you earned above that level stop working, because at the level you are synched to, you didn't have them.

What's immensely aggravating is that Level Sync instantly resets all persistent abilities you have had running even if you actually have and can use them at the level you sync to. Every single goddamned time I join a FATE and Level Sync down, my Defiance vanishes and I have to remember to put it up again. Usually I don't remember and then I'm wondering why I'm not building Wrath and then I remember after that. Goddammit, Squenix.

Blame the fools that leave their systems running and characters logged on while they go to work/school/uni etc etc.

I will keep blaming the company that screwed up the server infrastructure instead. I really get bothered with how people keep blaming the people who just want to play the game. They could have put in an AFK timer or adequate resources to host their game. It's their third MMO launch (really more like fourth since FFXI launched twice in JP then US). Don't blame the people who want to play. If they weren't going AFK they wouldn't be able to log in anyways. There is a reason they started doing it after all.
