So effing sick of pugs :(
Aiatar shouldn't be that big of an issue but I am running out of MP on my WHM because the tank can't get that thing out of the pools or strafe fast enough to avoid the frontal line attack..

But of course they blame me if I run out of MP because of this or because the dps is not strong enough. Always the healer to blame -.-

On the other hand I got my conj only mount...I seriously wish they did something else..it's embarrassing, that stupid thing.

I'm actually surprised in response to this, SE hasn't adopted a "Great players" thing where people could spend like $5 or $10 to get preferred treatment and on the server.

Is there a way to manually remove the JP servers from the list that tries to load when your characters load? There's apparently problems there and it's slowing down my ability to try to login with my main char on Ultros and I really have no intention of ever playing on a JP server.

Don't give them ideas.

That might be the case but I stand by the fact that most companies would kill to have a bad launch like this. I mean the demand is crazy to play it. Nearly every complaint is about not being able to get into the game and scratch that itch.

Where I do think they butt fumbled the most was not having an idle timeout kick. This has definitely created bloated servers where a lot of people may not be playing the game.

But we don't speak from the company's perspective. We are speaking from the user perspective. And we can't play.

No doubt companies would love to have more demand for their products than projected. But that is irrelevant to how we feel when we can't play when we want to.

Is there a difference between an Inn's sanctuary and the town sanctuaries?

So maintenance tomorrow is from 8pm EST to 6am the next day, guess I won't be playing for a couple of days, but glad to see it's finally going to be easy to log in

Best case scenario after tomorrow's maintenance:
That first day the worlds themselves were handing the load ok, it was the instance/duty servers that failed. So by beefing up the instance servers they should be able to allow more simultaneous logins (no more error 1017). The greyed out/"unable to group NA servers" are probably a result of the login servers getting hammered as people spam 0, so some work on those along with allowing more simultaneous logins should help with that as well. Seems like they are also opening new servers, they should allow free transfers and encourage people to go to new servers (although is the whole 500+ GAF FC going to move?)

What will probably happen after tomorrow's maintenance:
Same shit as today.

are players going to be compensated in the way of game time? I mean, I've owned the game 2 days and I've played it once. And I can imagine people have owned it 3 times that and played it a similar amount.

Not for this game, not after the complete failure that 1.0 was. Luckily for them it seems that just about nobody is really reporting on how huge of a mess it is. Would think there'd be an article on the front page of IGN talking about this all or something.

Yes, but no details yet.

So, I have a problem. I have an authentication thing that I got with the FFXIV collector's edition way back when it came out in 2010. I used it to log into the new FFXIV last week, but now I can't seem to find it anywhere. :(

Is there a way for me to turn authentication off of my log in requirements, or am I borked?

How do I rank up in my GC past Chief Serpent Sergeant? It says complete rank 2 hunting log (which I've done), and to do a trial. But I see no quest I should be doing. Anyone know? Do I have to beat the main story first?

Is there a difference between an Inn's sanctuary and the town sanctuaries?

A town sanctuary is much bigger and you can actually run around and do stuff. The only thing you can do in an Inn is change your class, fiddle with your inventory/gear and summon a retainer.

I had graphics problems, I have a gtx 680 and it was dieing every few hours, downloaded different drivers and appears fixed now.

Which drivers are you using? Every half hour or so my screen goes black and goes back to normal after a few seconds (nvlddmkm error in the event viewer), this does not happen with any other game I play.

I read on here that they were giving 7 days bonus, didn't see the actual source though

I honestly think the only thing that is going to improve this situation in the near future (even after the new servers are added) is people just giving up trying to log in at all. Which probably isn't going to help long term.

I'd be curious to hear the ratio of people that have actually been able to play a significant amount of time vs. those that have not been able to log in.

Same here.

This seems like an Nvidia problem as everyone as I see with it uses Nvidia cards.
I tried the latest beta drivers and its still happening.

I also get weird flashes or something. Its like some areas because engulfed in yellow light for a quick half second before returning to normal. Most commonly happens in the Shroud.

Which ones? I was on the beta drivers then rolled back to the latest certified. No fix.

edit: I have a 680 too.

I did some googling and someone recommended these, GeForce 314.22.

Apparently they are the "bioshock infinite drivers". It appears to have fixed my problem. Just google it to download from nvidia.

I'm using 314.22... so that doesn't fix it for me.

Not trying to be salty or anything, I'm genuinely new to any final fantasy mmo (not mmo's in general mind you). But is this typically how SE responds to this kind of thing? Because I'm basically seeing them taking people's money for a week, not doing a damn thing about an absolutely broken crushed system and basically saying "yup well, we'll do something about it sometime, hope it helps".

I don't know whether I'm more disappointed in them not having the foresight of seeing this coming and preventing it, or the lack of response in actually fixing it.

At this point it would take the most amazing game in the world for me to give them any money past my 37 days. I seriously doubt that's going to happen.

They gave specific dates/times for when they were upgrading the hardware and giving people 7 days of game time as compensation since the planned upgrades were going to be tomorrow. They announced all this after they were having issues. They did have very detailed responses detailing the planned maintenance, their stance on various possible fixes as well as more information than I have ever had at a mmo launch as to "why" this happened. There are no further information updates necessary at this point. They said what they are going to do, set a date and reimbursed you for time lost. Just because people in this thread and the last have either no reading comprehension, didn't actually read what they posted or are just being obtuse to throw an internet tantrum I am not sure what more they could say. Blame yourself or god for sitting at your PC/PS3 like a skinner box rat pressing 0/X for a treat over the long weekend after what they posted and before their planned fixes.

You can change your class anywhere and you can also rewatch cutscenes in the inn (just to clarify ;))

Geez...harsh much?

The situation according to Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/okay-yeah-final-fantasy-xivs-relaunch-is-a-disaster-1237985246

Me too.

And how is adding more worlds going to fix our issues on Ultros? Just hope other players migrate?

The servers is so people can create new characters without restrictions and alliviate further loads in the rest of the servers.

What will help is that they are fixing Duty Finder server so they can raise the limit on the servers and hopefully we have a working queue system.

Still servers will be heavily populated for a while, but now in the normal MMO fashion launch...

Sounds like an unstable OC to me. Have you stress tested with Kombuster?

I did some quick stability testing with heaven/valley benchmarks. I haven't run into any problems like this with any other games.

Downloading now. I hate having to roll back so far, but hopefully it'll work. I just crashed while tanking Hauke Manor or whatever it's called.

The instance servers are the bottle neck right now, the world server caps are set lower than max because if they let more people in the instance servers would not function correctly.

They are adding more instance servers, then raising the caps.

You've got to be kidding. You don't really think this do you? Internet tantrum... ?

Holy shit, is there really not an idle/AFK kick in this game at all? No wonder it's fucking impossible to get on... once people found out about that shit, they're just keeping their spots online and the rest of us are fighting for the scraps left by people who get knocked off by power outages or other hardware issues.

The gods are smiling down upon me, I got in on the first try. Played a bit while conf calling. (the conf call was after hours)

^^^ This 100%. And you can't blame the AFKers either. If I wanted to YLOD my PS3 I'd probably AFK log too right now...too damn hard to get into the game.

I noticed last night it was near impossible to get into the game until there was a quick "emergency maintenance" where the game was rebooted and I was able to login. I almost wonder if SE just did that to knock out the AFKers themselves.

There isn't an afk kick timer, and yes it's dumb. The least they could do is kick afkers in sanctuaries.
