Okay, thanks. Appreciate the answers. I'm mostly enjoying the lore. But stuff like that just bugs me when I don't know the answer.
That's the lighthouse, I believe. It just got a crystal smashed into it during the Calamity.
Ifrit fight was awesome! That last part gets super intense.
yeah all those primal fights are awesome, they get better![]()
Yeah, Garuda was a pain at first. None to less, I love their themes!
I don't blame them.
This is vanilla WOW all over again.
This is the sorriest MMO launch I've seen and I've seen quite a few in my day.
A month from now people would just be using the argument that, "This is the first month that you're paying your subscription fee. You must have never played an MMO launch before!"At this point we've hit the point where it's inarguably the worst launch in 10 years. Prior to this weekend, it was a bit more subjective. After this weekend, you must have some weird rose tinted glasses if you think something was worse.

Any gaffers who stay logged in all the time are part of the problem. D: Shame on you. Shame!
For those of you in US/CAN playing on a a JP server, is it true you never get server full and it's always easy to login?
Need to know before making the switch fulltime.

I just got error 9000 after trying to get in for 3 hours. Sad thing is people think on wednesday things are magically gonna be great and smooth but it isn't there is still gonna be a ton of people hammering the new servers and they are gonna have to make adjustments for awhile.I honestly can't believe they fucked up this bad hopefully the majority of the community and new players hold out.

The only person to blame for this fiasco is Square and their incompetence. People who stay logged in are just playing the only way Square will let them.
It's a bit easier, but at this point the JPN servers are so full of NA/EU refuges there's not going to be a big difference.
JP servers still get 1012 and 90k. None of them are immune.
When you can get on the queues are significantly shorter though.
Nope.
I made an alt yesterday on a JP server after I crashed and was unable to get into Ultros.
1017 is extremely common on JP servers too and I rarely see queues, needless to say I haven't even bothered with that alt outside of playing them once.
The worst part is there are people actually enjoying the game to the fullest right now while 80% of the games pop sits outside staring at error screens. The 2nd worst part is how non-chalant Square seem to be about the whole thing.
Congrats on pissing away all the goodwill you had just finished recovering from the previous disaster.

Granted, the defense force has retreated quite a deal - in number, not sincerity. Around the end of Phase 4 it felt like everyone was brainwashed or something.
If you already have a PC service then yes. If you play on PS3 only then I think you need a copy of the PC game for it to let you login... Not really sure though.
You need to buy a PC version and register it to your account to play on PC.
No, vanilla WoW had servers with no problems besides loot lag. I never saw a queue until WotLK. An individual's problems with servers in WoW were much more self inflicted.

The funny thing is, in 1.0 I can't remember ever having these problems logging into the game. It was when you were in the game when things went downhill.
To ensure as many players as possible can log in and create characters on existing servers, our development and operations teams are monitoring server load and population around the clock, placing and removing restrictions with even the slightest fluctuation in numbers in order to maintain near-full capacity on each World. We are still experiencing maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users. This number, however, has taxed some of our instance servers, and is causing unexpected down time here, as well.
This is something that was kind of alarming seeing as how this is a MMO:

They have serious issues if 230k concurrent users are causing these issues. 230k is nothing when it comes to a MMO. If WoW launched with only 230k people playing, it would've been considered a bomb (EQ had 500k at that time).
You know, I'm wiling to bet that for most everyone... once you get through the server mess and into the game. You completely forget about that server shit entirely. It's a good fucking game. I get angry for half a day cause I can't log in, but the second I do it's like all that time spent spamming 1017 errors didn't happen.
Once they get the server issues fixed this game is set. This game will be successful I'm sure, even if they lose a lot of potential subs right now.
