Ordered the PC version today. Ive been playing the PS3 version the past week and its becoming increasingly more difficult to manage the game using just the controller. With more abilities, chocobo abilities, and navigating instances...the hotbar thing is more difficult the more you level up. Tanking or Healing on PS3 is difficult too, maybe thats why there's a lot of DPS's around lol

I don't blame them.

I do. SE created the problem but these users made them worse. I certainly can hold them responsible for their anti social actions.

This is vanilla WOW all over again.

No, vanilla WoW had servers with no problems besides loot lag. I never saw a queue until WotLK. An individual's problems with servers in WoW were much more self inflicted.

This is the sorriest MMO launch I've seen and I've seen quite a few in my day.

At this point we've hit the point where it's inarguably the worst launch in 10 years. Prior to this weekend, it was a bit more subjective. After this weekend, you must have some weird rose tinted glasses if you think something was worse.

A month from now people would just be using the argument that, "This is the first month that you're paying your subscription fee. You must have never played an MMO launch before!"

Granted, the defense force has retreated quite a deal - in number, not sincerity. Around the end of Phase 4 it felt like everyone was brainwashed or something.

I'll agree with you on this. In fact, the only launch I can think of that was worse than this was the infamous Anarchy Online launch.

For those of you in US/CAN playing on a a JP server, is it true you never get server full and it's always easy to login?

Need to know before making the switch fulltime.

Any gaffers who stay logged in all the time are part of the problem. D: Shame on you. Shame!

The only person to blame for this fiasco is Square and their incompetence. People who stay logged in are just playing the only way Square will let them.

It's a bit easier, but at this point the JPN servers are so full of NA/EU refuges there's not going to be a big difference.

I just got error 9000 after trying to get in for 3 hours. Sad thing is people think on wednesday things are magically gonna be great and smooth but it isn't there is still gonna be a ton of people hammering the new servers and they are gonna have to make adjustments for awhile.I honestly can't believe they fucked up this bad hopefully the majority of the community and new players hold out.

JP servers still get 1012 and 90k. None of them are immune.

When you can get on the queues are significantly shorter though.

The only thing tomorrow looks to be doing is putting Square in a position to allow new players again.

Nope.

I made an alt yesterday on a JP server after I crashed and was unable to get into Ultros.

1017 is extremely common on JP servers too and I rarely see queues, needless to say I haven't even bothered with that alt outside of playing them once.

The worst part is there are people actually enjoying the game to the fullest right now while 80% of the games pop sits outside staring at error screens. The 2nd worst part is how non-chalant Square seem to be about the whole thing.

Congrats on pissing away all the goodwill you had just finished recovering from the previous disaster.

Ah okay, jeez. Thanks for the quick responses.

Where did you get that 80% statistic from?

Not that I'm going to disagree with them pissing away customer goodwill, but they aren't really being non-chalant about it. They're upgrading two different datacenters at the same time in a bit of a mad frenzy starting tomorrow to make up for the fact that their launch infrastructure was ass.

It doesn't excuse their launch infrastructure being ass, but there's really nothing else they can say right now other than "we're sorry, we're fixing it."

Yeah, I think I'm done for the day, time for some single player games. This day is by far the worst of the long weekend. There's no point even bothering.

It's probably the worst launch since Anarchy Online. I've been around since text MUDs & UO's launch and this is fairly bad. I really hope Wednesday's maintenance sorts things out but I kind of doubt it.

The game is great but the server side problems are pretty terrible.

Well damn, first time I've been unable to acquire the JP server group information.

Pre-launch I was fine with giving them the benefit of the doubt. But now...yeah, no. This is terrible. Bummer cause the game itself is a blast.

The funny thing is, in 1.0 I can't remember ever having these problems logging into the game. It was when you were in the game when things went downhill.

If you already have a PC service then yes. If you play on PS3 only then I think you need a copy of the PC game for it to let you login... Not really sure though.

You need to buy a PC version and register it to your account to play on PC.

Thank you.

I think I'll just roll with PS3 for now. I'll get it on PS4 if the graphics are close to PC or a noticeable improvement at the least.

WoW had a ton of server issues when vanilla launched. They gave away a free month or two it was so bad. They eventually got them corrected but then they had 2000+ queues to get in. Which at this point I'd take for this game.

What's even worse is that this is a sub game IMO. If it was f2p then I would give them much more slack than I'm giving them now.

And the best part is that this is all after they had completely shut down the game for the better part of a year. I'm at the point that, regardless of whether or not things improve dramatically, I'm still thinking I should request a refund for the PC CE I purchased. A purchase, I might add, of which I am still unable to attach to my existing account, and whose support ticket has now gone unanswered since Wednesday, placing it far beyond the 48 hours they give themselves to answer all support tickets.

Fuck Square Enix.

I managed to do Titan yesterday with the Duty Finder, and damn that fight was hard. We wiped a lot, more than 10 times, but it was cool that we stuck together.
The more we fought, the better we were doing, though in the end I was finding myself without mana during the Heart phase (which wiped us a few times because one of the DPS usually ended up thrown down at this point) and the one right after.
The best part was that just as the tank said that it would have been the last try for the party (the other 3 were in the same Free Company), we managed to do it. As usual I was without mana for the last phase of the fight (I was also without Hi-Ether, had to use normal Ether) but had some really lucky Freecure procs.

Most intense fight I had in the game so far (apart from those Brayflox runs with tanks that eat every single poison breath and have no idea how to tank more than 1 target), especially for that damned throw move, that got me a few times (though only actually thrown me down to my death once) even though I was sure I had moved out of it in time.

Well that's it, after 3 hours of trying to login, I've decided I don't want to waste away my entire Labor Day holiday. Going to give some single-player games some lovin'. Good luck everyone. See you later in the week maybe.

Word spread quickly with 1.0 that it was awful. It didn't launch on PS3, either, and the game was a lot more demanding of PC hardware at the time. They didn't have nearly the same number of people trying to play.

MIERDA!!!!!!!!! WTF At least before I just had to be patient to get into a full server, now it's just impossiburu!!

This is something that was kind of alarming seeing as how this is a MMO:

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/76132

To ensure as many players as possible can log in and create characters on existing servers, our development and operations teams are monitoring server load and population around the clock, placing and removing restrictions with even the slightest fluctuation in numbers in order to maintain near-full capacity on each World. We are still experiencing maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users. This number, however, has taxed some of our instance servers, and is causing unexpected down time here, as well.

They have serious issues if 230k concurrent users are causing these issues. 230k is nothing when it comes to a MMO. If WoW launched with only 230k people playing, it would've been considered a bomb (EQ had 500k at that time).

I'm having the opposite. Unable to retrieve character list from JP servers!

I really do wonder who over in Square Enix thought that telling players to "try again later" was an acceptable thing to do in MMORPGs.

I have an alt character on Hades (JP server) and it's as smooth as butter. They're all asleep atm cos it's 2:30am. But if you think about the times you're likely to play this game (well, speaking as a European player), the server would be pretty damn free from afternoon/evenings. Only time JPs would be on is when I'm sleeping/first thing in the morning.

You know, I'm wiling to bet that for most everyone... once you get through the server mess and into the game. You completely forget about that server shit entirely. It's a good fucking game. I get angry for half a day cause I can't log in, but the second I do it's like all that time spent spamming 1017 errors didn't happen.

Once they get the server issues fixed this game is set. This game will be successful I'm sure, even if they lose a lot of potential subs right now.

You're confusing subscription numbers with concurrent users.

Only time will tell. Almost every MMO launch has people praising it and saying how good it is. But once the content wall is hit and the games underlying problems/balance issues crop up, people start jumping ship. Especially on GAF we have seen countless MMO's that get positive fan faire only to be dead in a few months.
