If there's a cutscene that needs to be skipped in order to complete on time, that's an issue with SE's design and they'll have to address it. The cutscenes are there to be watched. I want to see them, and I don't expect others to skip them either.
 
bah wish i could play. Is there someway to contact SE to find out were my order is other than order tracking its been 10+ days and it hasn't been updated on the tracking list.
 
I might be talking out of my ass here, but doesn't the patron deity/ whatever they're called (which you choose on character creation) determine mostly what colour gear you get from quests and whatnot? I chose one with a white symbol and iirc all of my gear was white. Might have been a coincidence though.

I don't think you can convert pink or green gear though. At least I haven't been able to. So, turning them in for seals is a good idea if you can't convert.
 
I haven't had a huge issue with Dungeon XP, geting something like 300-1000 XP on a mob myself. I think they could be a bit more plentiful in a dungeon and maybe a little easier to kill would help though.
 
Question about my Grand Company. I just hit Chief Serpent Sergeant, and I wanted to know what to do to get another promotion. I talk to the Personnel Officer, and he says "You need to clear rank 2 of your hunting log and undergo a trial." I've cleared rank 2 of the log, so on the next page, he says "I see you have met the Commander's approval. You should seek him out for your next trial." I'm assuming he's talking about the Commander just to the left of him, who gave me my previous trial, but he has no quest for me, and not even a red mark like he will have a quest in the future.

I also see rank 3 in the Hunting Log now, but it's greyed out and I can't even "open" it to look at the mobs, so it isn't ready yet.

Is there another Commander somewhere that I need to seek out?

Complete the main story. Afterwards you'll get a quest to complete Amdapor Keep. Once you do that you unlock the next promotion, which costs like 9k seals, I think.
 
What really excites me about ARR, is that I know there's still loads of huge content releases to come (if XI is any indication) so I'll never be wanting for something to do :)
Can't wait to see where the story goes.

Odin armor is about as close as you'll get... unless magitek powered armor becomes a thing in a future patch.

Also no fight or event should require you to skip a cutscene. Especially if its vital to the feel of the situation.

I know about the cutscene this guy is talking about. If everybody skips or if everybody watches there is no problem. It is only when some watch and others don't that it becomes a problem. I would hope SE makes it so there isn't a problem for somebody to watch and the rest skip, but until then the etiquette should be if somebody is new to the dungeon then don't skip that cutscene unless previously agreed on.
 
Damn it. It's still saying I can't create anymore characters because of my service but I don't have any.

Edit* my account is showing a character that's not showing up when I log into the game. Is there a way to delete it from the account page?

I've watched every single dungeon cutscene and didn't have any problem completing on time. In the last and second to last ones you get something like 2 hours and even though some twats were rushing us and raging roughly half the groups both times watched the cutscenes and we finished with plenty of time to spare (we even had one of the tanks who were whining about us wanting to watch the cutscenes just go afk halfway through).

If you want to farm tomestones in speedruns that's fine. I will probably be doing that soon but if people are first timers and want to watch the cutscenes then I'm not going to stop them. If I don't want to be slowed down by anyone I'll make a speed run group either with the FC or with some other people on the server that want to do that (that way we can spend a day or something as a group doing it, getting into sync etc).

Exactly.

I play this game for the story and no one is going to force me to quit an aspect of that simply because they're "in a hurry".

Yeah I think dungeon XP is fine. Sure it's not as quick as FATE farming, but it's more enjoyable and I don't see the rush to get to 50. I've ran each dungeon like 3-4x already.

I wish dungeons awarded GC seals though. I am so far behind on that.

For real. I don't play mmos just for the loot and the grind. I'm watching that cutscene, tough tities.

Actually we're all wide eye'd and awake over here. Maint is running through the entire morning afternoon for us. Haha.

I don't believe the countdown timer starts till one person enters the fight so as long as no one skips the cutscene the timer won't start. Issue is alot of people running those missions are doing it for tomes and have already beaten it. Good luck trying to get that through to this community though I've seen many of breakdowns and raging during these runs because of cutscenes.
 
I decided to do my carpenter quests today, the saw you get at the end is kind of ridiculous.

In FATEs, you need to inflict a certain amount of damage to a mob for your participation to be weighted, or at least 'tag' as many as you can with an attack. It's pretty hard not to get a bronze medal, at least ;p
I think mage classes (with the AoE attacks) have the best advantage in FATEs, because they can just spam those wide hitting spells and tag lots of mobs at once (at the risk of being piled on lol)

Oh ok, I'm only level 6, so I'm sure my dmg meters is not even worth mentioning, lol.
 
I need some advice about the game. I bought FFXIV vanilla when it launched on PC and stopped playing after like 3 days because I thought it was a clusterfuck. From the first OT I understood I don't need to buy anything else to play ARR (I don't want the L.E. or the additional items) but how am I supposed to do? I can't upgrade the game from the version 1.0, I should uninstall it, but in my account information page on FFXIV site I can't go on to download the game. Do I need to cancel the previous account and use the previous code on a newly one? Will I be able to download the client after that step? It's not clear what I'm supposed to do on the site O.o

Jeez, when you mentioned how big it was I didn't picture that big. I should do all those crafting quest tomorrow and see what else they have for lvl 50. lol
 
Finally hit 40 on WHM.

Also just finished the lvl 49 Job quest.

Although I noticed the locked 45 quest doesn't have Holy as a reward.... Anyone know where to get Holy @ 45 if its not there?
 
How do you even start a profession? Sucks you get no manual with the PS3 version, so I had to learn most of the stuff about the game on my own.

There are a series of quests at 45, the last one gives holy.
