I feel like I'm leveling so much slower than others since I don't particularly seek out FATE events [unless they're nearby]. I've mostly been doing side-quests as well as story missions, and leveling up my gathering/crafting classes.

I'll get to Level 50 eventually. I went from 28-33 yesterday, although I played a large majority of the day.

In any case, I'm having a lot of fun, so I guess that's what really matters. >:)

Time to change the topic? Seems like giving the wrong impression at this point.

More like for we are by servers full denied now :P

Don't worry, you're not alone. I'm still only level 33 on my primary leveling class.

Some people are really going hard to get to max level as soon as they can.

Enjoy the game at your own pace. Too many people blow through the content not enjoying it, then get burnt out on endgame. Most of these people will probably bail after the first month.

Makes sense I guess but semi disappointing to hear.

The amount healing you can do vs the amount of healing you need is pretty miniscule. Not to mention to self heal at your full potential you have to not use your main aggro tools and give up your Healing % buff.

Dark Devices is so painful if you're not a BLM, SCH, or ARC.

When you're in a group and they kick you for an AoE class to make room for those classes, then blacklist and cuss you out because you kill the lambs, something is wrong.

Now I clear DD as soon as I can. Bitter? Yep. Dick move? Yep. But I've been kicked/not invited to groups for DD three times because I'm not the right class and I want to move on.

They should just invite whoever to that. I've had ideal groups for that and not so ideal and everyone leaves of their own afford (unless they are afk or something).

Kicking people for not being a certain class is toxic behavior, and I will fully support anyone who wishes to kill lambs to prevent those types of groups from getting chains. That happened in FFXI all too often and while it's still very early I don't want players like that to get an ounce of slack.

On the other hand, I hope people aren't killing them just to be mean because they didn't get invited. That sucks a lot too, but I see a lot of people who feel obligated to get invites (and at love levels too) when parties are either full or just not interested.

Yeah. I'm disappointed with how many useless skills WAR seem to have. I like the job, but it's not the self-healing tank I thought it was going to be. The only ability that does any noticeable difference is Inner Beast and that eats all your wrath stacks, so the only time I use it, is whenever I have Infuriate available.

I've done prolly 10-15 DD from my time in the area and not once did this ever happen. Sorry to hear that.

What other classes should I be looking at to transfer skills to my pugilist? Lancer and Archer?

You need LNC to get MNK opened later. ARC has a few good lowbie DPS skills. I would also recommend getting Protect and Cure from CNJ, helps a lot when soloing.

Level 36 Bard so far and haven't done any crafting or gathering.
Anyone have suggestions or tips for which one I should start with?

Man, creating a lancer character on Sargatanas was one of the better decisions I made in this game. I'm finding the lancer class way more fun than the mage class. I dunno what it is, but I guess I wasn't a fan of the "switching between buffs" approach with the mage. Sarg seems to be slightly different than Leviathan at least; way more people with FC affiliations and slightly less gil bot spammers.

With that said, let's see how long it takes doing this relatively solo.

Anyone know the XP difference between say a 10 chain and a 138 chain kill of a mob? How is it calculated. I saw a screenshot from Dark Devices that I cant find now in this thread where someone had a huge chain going but wasn't getting much more xp than me doing that solo or with a group of single targeters lol. I think it stacks at 80% but info for this game is hard to come by since there is so much 1.xx stuff floating around. I get min maxing but I have a suspicion that people are just cutting peoples throats for nothing really lol.

I really dislike MMO communities sometimes. They are so toxic. Was doing a AK run and we wiped on Demon Door. The healer told the tank, "Do you know how to strafe? That looked like a keyboard turn to me. ugh."

So dumb. Hell, I got yelled at my first time in there because I didn't know the speed run method. Fuck that noise.

Is there a way to hack the game to properly show all the people fighting some of these outdoor bosses? Ain't fun healing a tank and then they disappear with Behemoth/Odin.

The flipside is increased wait times. Things are long for DDs the way it is. Imagine if they were limited to a single server.

That's not how it works. It doesn't matter if it's one server or one hundred, the queue time doesn't change. You will always be limited by the number of tanks.

Single server-1 tank,1 healer,20 dps
Cross server-10 tank,10healer,200dps

The only time cross server group finders effect wait time is when server populations are too low to fill the queue. Since this game doesn't have a population problem it would be nice if the DF was single server for the time being. It would drastically cut down the duchy behavior and allow people to make friends that could meet up again for future dungeon runs.

One thing I really, really like about the design of this game is how zones seem to work. Its hard to say this early if it's completely successful but I'm a big fan of what they're trying.

So many post-WoW MMOs I've played you start at one end of a zone, quest to the other end, go to the next zone and repeat, never having any good reason to return to past areas. It feels like a waste when a part of the world is only viable for like 5-10 levels, and usually results in ghost towns. I haven't played WoW in a long time so I dunno if things have changed but I remember when the entire Burning Crusade continent became practically empty because the only reason to go there was leveling an alt for a handful of levels.

The way FFXIV is set up, with a single zone having wildly different level ranges right next to each other, and how each city offers unique class/crafting stuff from lvl 1 to max, and new quests seem to pop up in old zones, and gathering items can only be found in specific areas, all combined with the class change system makes the world feel more organic and alive. There's plenty of reasons to be in various parts of the world and you return to familiar locations to find new stuff, just like in real life or good fiction. Places don't feel entirely used up and forgotten, although some zones are more developed than others.

Like I said, I don't know how successful this'll be for FFXIV specifically but it's absolutely a design philosophy I'd like to see in other MMOs. Try to make a world where places always have interesting stuff going on, instead of sectioned off zones you play through once and forget.

Really? I almost have a full page of gil bot spammers on my blacklist. Makes me wonder how much Leviathan has... but yes, lancer is awesome. Just wait til you unlock dragoon for jump :3

Is there a way to make a Macro activate another Macro?

I have one macro for crafting but I use all 15 lines and Need 5 more lines to finish the process.

Can I make the last line on Macro 1 to activate Macro 2??

Agreed. I remember doing a dungeon with a friend and we had a somewhat clueless tank, but he was receptive to all the advice my friend was giving him, so it ended up being a good run. Some people just need to take a gigantic chill pill.

I don't believe so. However, you can leave an echo (a message in the chat box that only you can see) that will remind you to press the macro again. I could be wrong about linking macros though.

Yeah I saw the echo macro which I thought was it so I saw in chat it said to cast Macro 2.

I hope there is a way. If not I guess I'll just have to press the button after.

3 nights of Titan wipes so far, we get to 40% constantly but there are weak links in my group, and unfortunately they happen to be the healers, not because they let people die, but because they die from anything and everything.

But anyway, we had to run Garuda again today for someone that missed it last week, so we went in, very clean fight and book drops which was for me since I had SMN drops on my wishlist.

Rmxchzu.jpg

I've always been so lucky with Garuda, last year I got the 7 weapons (and 3 more doubles) in just 20 successful runs, and now on my second win I get the book I needed so much for my SMN, I don't think I'll complete the set with the SCH book, but I don't particularly care about SCH.

Haven't been on much because of GPU problems. :(

Hoping I can have it resolved within the next week and hopefully in time not to get booted from the guild lol.

A couple of questions
Is there any way to minimize the quests that appear on the side of the screen? Once I got access to the other 2 cities via story missions I got way too many filling up the space right now.

Is there any command to backdash quickly to avoid radial red AoE's? In most cases I imagine you would try to stun it before it goes off but after going through a dungeon where you needed to let a Bomb self destruct, I had trouble as a tank trying to keep it within distance AND get out of the way quickly.I know how to avoid line and triangular AoE's via left/right strafe when locked on to a target via Legacy controls.

One critique I have about the game are the item bags. It's pretty annoying having to switch between the five inventory bags, one large bag would have been better. It's a hassle checking each one to see where everything is.

So I'm watching a Garuda hard mode stream and one of the party members name was Mike Tyson. The guy on stream says Mike Tyson's down and some one in the stream chat said "He must of got hit by that Lennox Lewis AOE". I'm weak right now.

A complaint I have is that even when you have a full group sometimes it takes 10 minutes for the duty finder to even load up your instance. Doing AK runs right now and this is frustrating.
