There's lots of skill adjustments they need to make, and I'm sure they'll do a lot of them. Cure 3 for white mage is basically a useless spell at this point because it costs a ton of MP and has less potency than cure 2. The unique thing about it, the AoE component, has a radius so small it almost never hits more than one target.

It seems most classes have at least one skill that is totally wonky.

I can't understand a several dozen hour "tutorial" that has you doing encounters like Titan, Garuda, and Stone Vigil (nevermind the optional stuff), then going back to brainless filler in between and after them. It doesn't make any sense. No one is learning anything from doing the same quests they did at lv. 10 at lv. 48. Certainly not after having cleared Garuda. Not a valid excuse as far as I can see.

Also do people really do Ifrit while having Garuda or Titan on farm? Why do Wanderer's Place when Amdapor Keep is more rewarding?

no, you know what's really useless? elemental resistances.

I do stuff to help other people. And I like the variety.

Just naming lvl 50 content, is there even if you don't need to farm all at the same time. And WP has shorter wait times and some nice items to sell in the market. After you capped Myth tomes is not a bad option... (also I feel is shorter)

i got a tell earlier from a farmer telling me he'd give me a "brorate" on gold. so cute.

are gold spammers and botters being removed on japanese servers faster? i keep hearing this, but is it true?

I just hit my limit. Doing CM speed runs has wore on me. This is the worst endgame gear grind I've experienced in as long as I can remember. I loved doing Ifrit for weapons, but doing endless runs for Tomes is very bad.

I got 3 months of free play time for reviewing the game but I've canceled my account. I'll use that game time once a content patch comes out.

To all of those of you still leveling, enjoy the leveling experience, that's where 100% of the enjoyability of this game lies. I still have fun switching over to my SCH and GLD to level.

Yeah, I just complained about this on the previous page, lol.

Getting my Relic for WHM and SCH was really fun. I like a good challenge (Titan mainly). But now that I'm farming for tomes to get the last few Darklight pieces I need, I'm starting to feel very burned out already. I'm not sure how long I'll stay subbed to the game if this is how they are going to be doing end game in the future. More kinds of tomes and all that. I'm also hearing that not every boss in the Bahamut raid drops gear... I'm not sure if SE realizes why WoW raids were so popular (which they are obviously trying to mimic). Beating some hard encounter and seeing a nice shiney loot pop up was satisfying. Beating a hard boss and seeing a msg that you are full on myths tomes for the week, a bit less so.

I'm so sick of doing CM and AK now. And while I'm leveling Paladin because it'd be nice to have a tank at 50, I've almost lost motivation to do it. Once I get 50, it's back to that boring grind for tomes to get anther set of Darklight gear. Quite possibly the most unrewarding end game of a MMO I've ever played.

Hell yeah, this is actually my primary reason for wanting to get to endgame and max all my stuff out, so I can help people.

Sadly, I've been rolling kind of slow so far (only PLD level 44, hahah).

The endgame for several WoW expansions was basically similar. Run some dungeons over and over for tokens and drops. And lots of content wasn't available for months after each release too. Before TBC, it was even worse. I guess my main point is that you have done way more in a couple of weeks than the average person could possibly do, and the game has only just come out. I have faith that they'll fill it all out nicely with content patches.

So then those mega elemental resistance potions wouldnt be a smart thing to stock up on?

Cool shots as always Tekno. :3

Thanks. Looks like the deathshot will be staying too lol. Still a little too gung-ho to through myself infront of someone...but i guess it comes with the territory.

Does anyone have at hand a version of the Main theme?
(The one which's rendition plays after turning in In The Company of Heroes and when Cid repairs the Enterprise just before going into the Castrum Meridianum)

Howdy folks, I'm new to Ultros. I just started a few days ago and some of you might have noticed my character (Gareth Nolan) waving at you. I just wanted to ask how I could become part of the Gather Against Fate free company? I've already signed up and setup my profile on the guildwork.com site. As well I got two messages on there saying I was accepted. If anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

Yeah that's the thing, this end game content seemingly(cause I haven't got there yet) sounds very similar to the end game content of wow. Identical even. It makes me wonder if this is their first mmo, of the ones complaining. Not to mention housing and pvp aren't even put yet.

Why do Wanderer's Place when Amdapor Keep is more rewarding?
I was told wp is easier, so fresh/new 50s should do that 1st and farm darklights before venturing ak and hm primals

At least that's what I'm doing, gonna farm all 5 darklight accessories before trying wp, ak and ifrit hm

Got this today for PS3. Any advice on server? I noticed a few on the OT. Is Sargatanas or Ultros for NA the preferred ones?

Been ages since I played FF online. So many good times with FFXI.

True.

Bloodbath? dosn't hurt having it but barely makes a difference.

Stoneskin? Better than cure I guess

Foresight? Not as good than any of the other mitogation skills you have

Skull sunder? ....no comment

Fracture? A waste of GCD

Mercy Stroke? Is another instant attack you can have, but again, barely makes a difference

Raise? Not bad to have, 100% situational though.

MRD/WAR gets the 2 most useful PLD abilities and we get trash.

I believe that Skull Sunder does high threat without need for a combo if you're a PLD, similar to how Savage Blade does high threat without the need for a combo if you're a WAR. But low damage.

Don't really know much about whm, but I've so far ran a few whms that really affect how smooth some dungeons are.

One whm was a nuker that could barely keep up with healing, runs out of mp all the time and I find the blm helping him with cures, bard had to mage's ballad him and some of the fights took forever, which he then nuked some more because hey the DDs aren't doing enough damage, wiped a few times.

Next we got another healer, focused on heal and stoneskin, things died a lot faster because everyone else gets to focus on doing their job, group never came close to dying, mp never ran out.

To be fair, even at launch it wasn't just one instance. There was a handful of things that people did and wanted to to do, not just 2 with one being noticeably better.

Finally downed Titan!! What a difficult fight. In the end I ended up finding a pug with the right skills and after a couple hours we finally got it down. I might have done it without my FC but I hope that getting my relic will help them. Only 8 more Castrum runs till Artemis Bow!

I spent all day crafting. Well, to be more accurate, I was leveling Carpenter, Alchemy, Culinarian, and Leatherworking to 15 so that I could use their awesomesauce abilities while leveling up Armorsmithing. Pondering doing all of them.. I don't know how useful the others are. Manipulation seems like it's powerful but too expensive. Careful Synthesis is a nice get-out-of-jail-free card. Ingenuity, I dunno. Maybe useful to make it easier to fill out the crafting log?

The "end-game" is really starting to get to me. It's just... so boring. It really is a shame the Crystal Tower wasn't available at launch because right now, you just farm tomes to buy DL gear and get your relic. I dread doing it for another job even though I'm leveling up Paladin. Just repeating that process of spamming CM for 100 tomes makes me a little sick. I wish there were other options besides DL or AK gear. AF lasts you a total of 5 minutes. Bahamut is out of reach until you do that. I don't mind grinding for gear in MMOs really, but... I dunno, this is such a boring one.

Exactly this. The content is good, but the gear grind is sub par. I would much rather kill the bosses in CM to have a chance at armor pieces. Knowing I need 45 more runs for a full DR set makes me sick.

Thank goodness GTA5 is only a day away.

I'm an MMO veteran. I was in a top 100 NA raiding guild during Vanilla. I can confirm that the armor grind in FFXIV is sub par.

I spent my free time today leveling Alchemist and Weaver to 15 for their abilities, so now I have all the crafting classes except for CUL and GSM at around level 15-20. CUL is next for that ability and then I mightnl start focusing on just a few.

I dont think the content we got for the end is what they actually wanted. They simply ran out of time to get this out the door. The end game reeks of that. Even the last home stretch of questing it was apparent. There really wasn't a lot of quests in any of the areas they sent you to. Beautiful handcrafted areas with a handful of quests. I usually get sick of an area in a MMO, here I was like "this place is gorgeous why do I have to leave already?" The sanctum of the 12 really hits this home for me. There were like 3-4 quests...now leave.

I notice that list of what is on the horizon lists 2 hard dungeons for 2.1. When they were hyping this game they said there would be 3 hard dungeons @50 and I have a feeling we ended up with 1 that ended up easy anyway. They cut out the easier raid (CT), which probably would have lessened the need to grind these tomes and made gear progression a lot smoother. So basically they fucked up with the end game and it will probably be reasonably fixed with 2.1. This it is also the reason im not killing myself doing something boring just to get tomes. I have been leveling gathering/crafting and other classes to snipe the better cross class skills, and slowly working on getting my Relic weapon. I dont expect the community at large to follow this so I can see the frustration but I always give a MMO until their first couple of content patches to get it together and I am no longer a rush to the end type of player even though I did reach 50 very quickly in this game because it was too easy.

Fates need some work with the disappearing bosses, enemies and party members. As I was leveling I found that there are some non popular zones where you end up with 5-10 people on the fate rather than what seems like hundreds and it was a much more satisfying experience. Even solo I always got gold as a CNJ and didnt have to worry about being 1second late or I was going to get bronze. They died fast enough that you would go onto the next one and the next but without the massive zerg of people stealing your xp. I tried to do Behemoth and it was worthless. I couldn't target half my party members for heals because they were all over the place, or find where they died. With him disappearing and then instant killing everyone because people are running all around the map with him it was a joke. I asked in the FC 4-5x for an invite to it and ended up just pugging it because nobody would invite me to a group, ill just skip it next time if that was the case. Then I got nothing for it other than a repair bill because it glitched out when he finally did die and offered me no reward when the rest of the group claimed they got silver..

I actually think that Vanilla WoW was worse (it was the reason i ended up quitting and didn't resub til Kara), but the problem is that you can't really compare them in a bubble. FFXIV needs to be compared with what is available right now (WoW and EVE and everything else) and the endgame in comparison to those is not favorable to FF at all right now really, even if those have had a lot more time to mature and develop so the comparison isn't actually "fair".

That being said, the next couple of patches look to be extremely feature heavy, and the ride leading up to 50 was pretty awesome so as long as the content keeps coming it should be all right.

Maybe 10 years ago it was identical? Since TBC the game has supported a variety of gear progression paths for endgame. You've got dungeon bosses, tokens, crafting, reputation, and pvp zone/world bosses. Not to mention that WoW has always had 9-15 endgame dungeons, not 2.

Has anyone actually cleared the Return of the King fate? It's been failed every time I've done it.

Then again, there's only one other person at the fate with me, so that might be why.

I have done it like 6-7 times. It is the weakest fate in Eastern La Noscea if you want to get XP. It Is Not Lupus gives four times as much for silver as Return of the King gives for gold. Even the lower ranked Crab and Go is better for XP. If you have an AEO: at the side of the 'arena', you can find Bomb Balloons. Activate those and they will draw all the Bombards to them.

Well I know I've seen the same two spammers for 4 days straight in the main part of Gridania... There's really no excuse for that shit.

Is there latency problem with the temple of qarn plates? Been a few times where we stand on the plate but didn't heal the doom, happened to everyone and don't know if we were just doing it wrong, I had to run over them a few times to make sure I got them off.

My only problem with the endgame is just how boring the tome dungeons are.
I would rather run something like Brayflox 25+ more times(which I already ran 23 or 24 times) to something like AK even 10 more times, I have only run that 5 or 6 times.

I actually think doing Ifrit over and over and over is less boring and thats as the 2nd tank even.

The ride leading up to 50 was pretty good, and the job system is incredible. Besides the obviously limited end-game, there is a real problem with DPS balance.. Bards are just the god-class right now. We can't finish AK with our Summoner because his pet is slowed for the entire wall fight and we lose too much DPS. Switch in a Bard and it's at least possible. Trying to do Dhorme Chimera? Hope you've got two Bards so that they can silence Ram's Voice. Fates? They tag everything instantly and spam one button.

Wrapped up my first run of Dzemael Darkhold just before maintenance... picked up both the Sentinel's Celata and the Sentinel's Gauntlets on the run (I'm PLD), great party and went pretty smoothly. Guess it's onto Garuda after the maintenance.

The issue with the end game right now is incredibly gated, so many people haven't seen anything past WP, AK, Ifrit/Garuda.

And that doesn't seem like much, but the gap between Garuda - Titan is really big that will take most people weeks to gear up and beat. Then you have Coil which it different turns.

Finished Tam-Tara and I'm ready for Copperbell Mines. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna jinx it by saying this but so far the people I met in the duty finder were great. All very nice and polite. I guess all the cranky people are in the higher dungeons where shit gets real.

40+ is typically where it all turns to shit. I had great experiences up until then.

Once I hit Dzamael Darkhold it seemed like a flip was switched and everyone turned into a total dick.
