I'm getting a bit worried by all the endgame complaints and people planning to leave. This is usually what kills a new MMO. While I agree it's quite a repetetive gear grind at the moment I'm still sticking around, but really, the 2.1 patch is way too far away if they want people to stick around.
The best time to release it would be right around the first month sub starting, not in december or whatever date I'm hearing, the game could be "dead" by then.

Don't want to be all doom and gloom, but lets face it, every other MMO in recent years with lacking endgame is sort of on lifesuport now. I don't want this to happen with XIV.

I've been hearing November, which if true, and depending on when during the month they release, is closer to one and a half months by now.

Also I've heard some content will start coming out before then. Just, nothing really game changing. Specifically, I'm hearing, addional quests.

anyhow, you can always take the time to level a second class. Or take a few days to play through, I dunno, Wind Waker or whatnot.

Myself, well I still haven't gotten to the endgame. I expect that'll happen next week.

Mists launched with 9 dungeons, 3 were "reworked" but you could apply the same argument to a lot of ARR content... the differences are significant enough that I wouldn't hold it against either. There was 1 raid available day one but the others were patched in a month or so later.

You are right that they tried shifting the focus on questing and people hated it because it was a mindless/grueling grind of doing the same 15 quests over and over... very similar to ARR's dungeon grind. GC has actually said that they regret pushing dungeons to the background and want to release more in the next expac.

No doubt, holding back CT left a huge hole in endgame progression, the issue is that they didn't adequately fill it in. 2.1 is coming but 3 months is a long time in the MMO world. TOR lost half a million subs in a similar time frame because it lacked a compelling endgame. I'm hoping they offer up some endgame tweaks before then. Would be great if they can get CT in earlier, Yoshi said it was done a month ago.

If CT is done they should get it out and within the next 20 days or at least announce a date a few weeks from when the user base have to decide if they are going to keep playing and paying. Plus it might discourage people from just jumping back into wow with the new content there. The hardcore wow players already bolted (or are playing both) but they can still keep the fence sitters. I am going to stick around for a while but some people are going to be faced with this decision.

Same here, I'll be sticking around and continue to support the game. I'm critical because I care and I've played MMOs prior where servers empty out and it just diminishes every other aspect of the game.

It would be interesting if they changed up their release schedule and, instead of release everything all at once every 3months, they released a little bit every month or so. So we'd get CT in Sept, then Dungeons/Dailies in October, King Mog/Extreme Primals in November, Pvp/Housing in December. I'd much prefer something like that to waiting 3 months for a huge overwhelming patch.

The problem with that is the internal scheduling for testing and what nots. Plus puts a lot of stress on the programmers for having to keep breaking up everything and getting builds ready to push out so often.

Kinda hilarious how empty it is after maintenance. Some people were shouting for help with Jaded Joly...that's the last time I take that thing on with only 3 people...

Since the launch on August 27, I'm only lvl. 9 with my archer and that's it. =(

Hey, I pre-ordered the game and still haven't even started! It didn't arrive until last weekend, and I haven't had a lot of time so I haven't gotten the clock running on my free month yet.

(I played during the beta, though, and have two characters each at Lv. 15 or so.)

I don't know how I'm going to grind from 40 to 50, it's been so boring since 37, and dungeoning with friends aren't really giving me much exp, but at least I'm still ahead, I can play other games while they catch up, I'll just do fates on and off.

GC hunts should really give exp too as reward...

Just go grind out fates for a while. Sure its boring, but its the easiest exp you will ever get for the most part as you go zerging around with everyone else.

Shame the game is out of stock everywhere over here in the UK :( can't find it online or retail, physical or digital, except for exorbitantly priced Amazon sellers.

That blows. I'm real lucky I found it at walmart for my sister the day before that long maintenance that opened up servers for char creation.

Watch a movie/TV series while you FATE grind, or listen to an audiobook.

My copy of the PS3 version came today. Will get started tonight. Which server do you guys recommend?
EU GAF user here so these are my options:

Ragnarok (NA/EU data center, recommended for EU timezones)
Sargatanas (NA/EU data center)
Ultros (NA/EU data center)

I hear a lot about Ultros. Are all three FCs very active? Are any of them already full?

Weird. Amazon here and most places wont charge you for ps4 until it's shipped.

Am not answering for the guy, but generally when folks give examples like that its taken from the context that they set aside budgets for themselves and if it goes over said point / preorder or not they dont draw anymore from that pool of money.

A friend of mine is the exact same way and he basically has a pocketbook that he keeps records of everything for the month / upcoming months with expendable cash budget.

Its the smart thing to do really. Prevents a lot of stupid purchases. Something I should take note of D:

Howdy folks, I'm new to Ultros. I just started a few days ago and some of you might have noticed my character (Gareth Nolan) waving at you. I just wanted to ask how I could become part of the Gather Against Fate free company? I've already signed up and setup my profile on the guildwork.com site. As well I got two messages on there saying I was accepted. If anyone could help I'd appreciate it.
Your post got drowned by the end game discussion, but you pretty much just send a /tell to Maple Cookie asking to be added to the GAF linkshell, because there's probably no room in the FC.

So where do we PS3 owners go to look at or manage our FF14 accounts? For payments etc?

There seems to be no directly link especially those for the EU side. I thought FF14 would set up a subscription on the PS3 itself like DC Online but I guess not.

You can macro your crafts, though this helps more for some than others.

Well, I was talking about dealing with mats from other crafts/gather. You have either level other crafts or buy them from the Markets (where you have to buy the full stack). Also theres a lot of running in some leves.

It would be interesting if they changed up their release schedule and, instead of release everything all at once every 3months, they released a little bit every month or so.

This is how it should be IMO.

Kind of what I was asking weeks before the release. There was no doubt that so many content only available about 3 month after release is far too late. It more than the time I actually spent on Tera +swtor.

Now I will definitly still be there for the 2.1 patch ( if there isn't any big delay.. ) since i like leveling classes ( pld 38, bard 36, arcanist 17. ) in dungeon, but there is a big lack of content variety 'because' of that patch 2.1.

Monthly big ( but 1/3 smaller than 2.1 2.2 etc patch ) should be what they aim for, even more so during the launch period.

I realize that a lot of people aren't exactly fans of the late-game Fate grind but I'd recommend giving it a shot during the wee hours of the morning.

I put together a group of fellow insomniacs and we basically had all of N.Thanalan to ourselves.

~650K exp in 90 minutes and it was ridiculously fun. At one point, we had 3 BLMs and 2 BRDs; basically just ran around with unlimited AoE.

Even saw a couple people from Ultros <GAF> out there :D (I'm Wren Kalenheim, in-game)

Dark devices is especially good late at night. Less people tragging and killing the lambs. Can just tag them all and do crazy chains.

tldr hold out for dark devices it will totally change your idea of fate grinding if you can get a party with blms and bards?

Is there latency problem with the temple of qarn plates? Been a few times where we stand on the plate but didn't heal the doom, happened to everyone and don't know if we were just doing it wrong, I had to run over them a few times to make sure I got them off.

Couple of things about those plates that can screw you:

1. They keep flipping, and will flip at least once right after doom hits. So you may run to a plate, only to find out it flipped before you got there and have to run to another. If this happens, pray it's not on the other side of the room. :-/
2. Cleaning doom isn't instant, it takes at least a second. You've got to sit on the plate until it happens and you see that it got cleansed.

FC wants everyone to be with Twin Adders but I feel I would benefit more and personally want to join the Immortal Flames. Not sure what to do.

Gonna get lost in end-game stuff but: Crafting in this game is pretty great.

Can we make that lowbie thread yet?

I'm right there with you in the lowbie stuff, don't feel bad. 23 THM, 20 WVR, 15 FSH etc.

I'm enjoying fishing way more than weaver. The crafting isn't bad, but I don't think it's great. It reminds me of Everquest 2, though it's certainly 100x better and more responsive than 1.0. I guess I should try out leves but I am not really sure when is the appropriate crafting level to start using them.

I'll need to re-run Brayflox. Got my Battlemage Gloves but not my Battlemage Coat. I need that COAT! Also let's review my BLM rotation!

Fire I > Fire 1>Fire 3>Fire 1>Transponse>Thunder 2>Blizzard 1 > Blizzard 1 > Scathe > Transpose> Repeat.

That's the correct way right? Of course throw in a sleep somewhere if the battle is just starting.

Hey guys, can anyone remember what the price was for the standard edition on Square enix's store in the UK? My friend is gonna pick this game up probably this week, and he was planning on waiting until digital sales when back up cus he figured it'd be cheaper. The retail edition is only £35 on amazon though and I figured digital wouldn't be less than that, but I can't see cus the Square store simply says unavailable, rather than an actual price.

When are they going to open up sales again geez? Are they seriously going to wait till the free month is up for folks and they watch all the people drop to make space?

This actually kind of sounds like what was fun in XI...

I start thunder II - fire III - spam fire until no mana - transpose - blizard - repeat

I try and swiftcast fire III and use thundercloud as it procs

I figured getting fire III of before the fire spam was better because it gives you astral fire II straight away so your fires do more damage but i could be wrong

the plates always change after he casts doom, so just wait in the middle until you see it change then go to that one so you don't end up running all over the place.

Finally got this bad boy, my PLD is coming in nicely for dungeon runs:

Don't want to be all doom and gloom, but lets face it, every other MMO in recent years with lacking endgame is sort of on lifesuport now. I don't want this to happen with XIV.

They already stated content updates are coming every 3 months. So even if they do add more endgame content in the next update, players will eat through it in a week or 2 and go back to whining. They also have to release content that is not endgame to keep other portions of the population happy. PVP and Housing are two items supposedly part of the next update too.

People who rush through content and eat up the endgame and only care about that are just going to be disappointed, as they get with every MMO. No dev has shown they can keep player base satisfied when it comes to endgame and a constant flux of just adding on progression to it does not really help in the long term.

Fire 3 goes first (until after 40 when you can sometimes cast it for free). It gives you full Astral Fire stacks but isn't very MP-efficient. Scathe goes approximately never unless you're running, because it still costs a GCD.

Try Thunder 2, Swiftcast, Fire 3, Fire 1 until bone-dry, Transpose, Blizzard 1, Thunder 2, back to Swiftcast. Fire 3s in cycles 2+ should start casting before MP is full, but not finish casting until it is; if they're going off too soon, slip another Blizzard 1 in.

Edit: Forgot you're sub-40 and can't take advantage of the Fire 3 cast speed buff. Fixed.

if only I didn't have to get up at 6:30 for work D:

Is hunting log the only way to get company seals???

Need 2000 for my chocobo and the hunting log basically has me running dungeons again to complete it.

Yeah I am 37 :(! Will look into this combo, didn't realize Fire 3 gave me Astral Fire II like Rattlehead said.

Fates are where I have gotten 95% of my seals. They give 150-300 depending on level and rating you get. Basically if you fate grind for a while you'll be max GC rank in no time.

The problem is the game was compelling til the 40s, and now I keep getting level blocked by the story quests.

Here's the thing. An MMO is competing against every other game out there for your time. From 1-38ish or so, I had no desire to play anything else really. Then this break happened, and yikes. I can FATE grind, or I can go play something else *actually fun*. A game like this should NEVER EVER hit a moment like this in a leveling pace to cap, MMOs learned that years ago at this point.

Of course, let's not go into how you have to level like 2 other classes to mid-30 as a healer just to get the same tools most other MMOs give healers just as part of their class...

Game has been great to this point, but already at a point where only the community can save me to keep playing. Knowing like no one in the guild certainly hasn't helped matters either. :p
