You know that Ground targeting purple/orange circle that you use for AoE attacks (meteor/flaming arrow)? Well i know on KB/M it just tracks the mouse and you can put it wherever... on controller... a little dot pops up on top of the screen and you use the analog stick to adjust where that dot goes... the sucky part about that dot is it's tied to the camera so if it gets screwed up when you hit a wall or something.. then your camera gets fucked over..hence your targeting screws up..
edit: the worst is when I do castrum and i use the cannons... when I zoom out the camera and adjust it.. it hits a wall and zooms all the way in.. screwing up the target marker...
Well here's my question... is there a way to adjust to position of that dot? or is there some way that even if you're on controller, you can still use the mouse for targeting?

Has anyone else experienced any serious repel lag on Demon Wall during AK? Ran it late last night and during the first repel we were grouped, everyone got pushed back but me. I found it a bit odd, but brushed it off. About 1.5-2 seconds after the initial repel as I was moving back to the left, I get hit with repel and pushed off.

I have never ever seen anything like that and it kind of pissed me off there was such a delay. Now I know not the move if I don't get hit with repel, but it seemed like I was punished for knowing the mechanics of the fight thanks to the crazy delay in an ability going off.

I was the tank in that run. I remember that. I also like how sometimes when the wall moves forward my screen goes black and then I reload toward the back of the platform.

You know whats really stupid?

I ran AK yesterday for the first time. As soon as it started, the two DPS began to bitch me out for not having shield oath on, and attributed to me not being able to play the game right. People are so on edge on shit and just complete idiots. Im glad the healer was patient with me and taught me how to run it and do the boss battles right.

My friend told me the enmity bonus from shield oath doesn't even work. I'm not sure if that's true, but if it is, the healer is basically the only one who should complain otherwise. I know I prefer them to run sword oath since the damage is irrelevant to me.

Or you can make HQs rain. I love doing that for GSM.

I've been pretty methodical in putting together HQ stuff for the last few leves to push to 50.

Buy HQ Mythril Ore on the market board
Convert ore to HQ Mythril Ingots
Convert ingots to HQ Mythril Rings and Mythril Plate (2:1 ratio)
Buy HQ Aldgoat Leather

At that point, you have 50% of your quality gains taken care of, so even though the helmet recipe they want is over my level, I can make it HQ pretty much at will.

As a healer, I definitely notice a difference in my tanks' abilities to keep hate with shield oath vs. sword oath.

What's wrong with cat people

I was in a dungeon, and when the victory screen after the boss came up I made a comment about how unfitting my 7 foot tall Roegadyn axe lady was amongst a bunch of catgirls. Then one of them said 'I'm a guy', and I had to squint and look real close and holy shit it WAS a guy.

So make sure you check real good or else there could be some dire misunderstandings.

I had a Paladin who forgot to turn it on in AK after Demon Wall. I could tell something was off because of the way his health dropped in comparison to the first part of the dungeon.

Yeah, that too.

It's pretty damn noticeable.
Sword Oath's damage isn't amazing when turned on and makes it a bit hard to tell, but Shield Oath's reduction can definitely be felt. I've kept enmity with shield oath off though, but wondered why the others seemed to catch up so easily. Sometimes when speedrunning/farming you just forget.

Can we only get mats from monsters at our own level? Not sure what I should be expecting for farming drops later on with level 50 battle class.

Happened to me once! I was pretty puzzled as I just figured I had dodged the repel (because I've had that happen before)

No.
I don't think you'll get XP however for wildly outclassing a mob.
Items however you get regardless of level.

EDGE gave the game a six, way too low in my eyes. Anyone got an idea how long they played and what their reasons were?

If it's 6/10, yeah that's way low by most game review standards. Granted, most game reviews treat 5 like 0, (ie: junk) when 5 should be average.

No idea what their rational is, can't find the review anywhere.

What kind of mats?

I farm aldgoat skins by Dry Bone on my lvl50 WAR all the time and dont have any issues

No.

Great this is basically what I was wondering thx. Good to know. Thought I observed different behavior in drops at higher level vs low level mobs, but musta been a fluke.

Of course you'll take less damage in shield oath and it'll always be used in more serious situations, but it seems the enmity part of it is very weird. Here's a link where some guy did some testing on it.

http://ventusinvictus.blogspot.com/2013/09/endgame-paladin-guide.html

Just skip to the part on shield oath and enmity if you want to read about it.

Aye, the enmity has been thrown into question recently. I don't particularly care for them parsing against another PLD considering 90% of the time you're not going to be playing tug of war against a PLD or WAR, but instead healers or DD's, but it does warrant discussion about what we previously thought about enmity values with Shield Oath on.

dammit, I got home but forgot about PSN maintenance. For a moment I thought I'd run out of playtime because of the error message I got.

Anyone know how much longer till it ends?

Really the only things you need to know are 'what single button can I push for maximal threat right now' and 'what string of buttons can I push for maximal threat over time'. The specific numbers don't matter as long as you know how to maximize threat output and it's enough to stay ahead of the party.

And there's nothing whatsoever you can do about starting a pull and having a dps unload or a whm start spamming medica II.

Last night I watched a Bard in Ifrit HM unload the instant, and I mean the instant the tank engaged. Predictably Ifrit turned around and chased his ass down.

Bard promptly blamed shitty tank.

I did see some testing recently that indicated a possible bug in enmity generation (two players testing on the same class, same gear, but getting different results on a mob)

It's always crazy when people have hundreds of thousand of gil to blow on tome items, but hey, if that gets me money what do I care?

I usually just simply leave the party when people start acting like assholes. I don't have any in game friends on Sarg, so all of my dungeon runs have been through the duty finder. Generally, it's been a positive experience, but let's face it, some people are just pricks. I think that I am a pretty competent WHM (lvl 44), but we all have our bad dungeon runs. I can remember not playing very well during the story mode Titan fight, and getting reamed out repeatedly by the other three members that I was a shitty healer, and that the BLM was doing a better healing job than I was. So my way of getting even was that when we had Titan down to about 10-15%, I said "I think you guys can handle it from here." And I left. Bit of a dick move on my part, but they deserved it.

I could easily see a lot of people giving the game a 6/10. The ridiculous number of absolutely mindless fetch and travel quests within fetch and travel quests (Inception), God awful boring and horribly unbalanced Fate grinds, waiting an hour for DF dungeons only to get morons that wipe and leave. 6 is not surprising at all. Game has a LOT of fundamental problems, and that's assuming they didn't even get to the 50 content (which is even worse).

That reminds me, what's the first dungeon/primal that's critical to the story-mode that has extended cut-scenes?

Since I view everything when it comes to the story, I want to save those runs for people in the FC so we can enjoy everything for the first time and not expected to skip the story. I've heard horror stories of using the Duty Finder for things like that. -_-

I think it's the Ifrit battle.

It has some real problems, and even for our non-hardcore group it's pretty clear the honeymoon is over. I'm sticking it out mainly because the WoW community is worse and the FF economy is extremely active and well-served, which makes crafting a nice alternative (even on non-legacy servers).

CM is the only time I was asked to skip cut scenes.

noticed my before meteor soundtrack came in with code. hoping for a few good tracks on those 300+ minutes of music!

I didn't play enough of 1.0 to hear it, but I really like the "Starlight and Sellswords" track. Apparently it was used for leves in Coerthas or something? That area seems to have been redone with organs everywhere, and while it's cool, I think the original music was too.

More like tens of millions of Legacy gil
To be fair we had nothing to do in endgame 1.0 but make fucking mountains of money.

First.

As far as I know, fetch and travel quests are a genre standard. I may not have played an MMO before, but I hear WoW, Rift, and GW2 players complain about them frequently. It seems nobody has figured out a reasonable alternative yet, until they do that's simply apart of the genre.

Second, Fates aren't boring, they've been some of the most exciting moments in the game so far.

Third, I've never waited an hour for the DF to match me up, so automatically that statement strikes me as hyperbole. Second, there's nothing Square or any other developer can do to keep players from logging out if they're throwing a temper tantrum, nor is there a way to really, "force," players to play Tank's, which is the only real way to shorten DF wait times.

Also, since you alluded to this. You do, "NOT," need to Grind Fates to get to the level Cap. Most of the game, I only participated in Fates under two conditions. First, if a Fate popped up very near by, or if I was 80% towards another level, and wanted to tip over before heading to bed. In neither case did I have to play many Fates in a row, and under the former scenario there were usually few enough people playing the Fate, as to make it very challenging.

Playing this way, Story Quests lasted me till, halfway through level 49, and that is not counting the endgame story missions, which I haven't played yet.

This, despite having skipped several side quests. This, despite having participated in, "Zero," Guildheists as my primary class. This, despite having gone fairly light on Leves.

I don't know what other people are doing wrong, but these claims of having to grind Fates from level 43 to 50, are complete and utter "B-u-l-l-!"

Just finished rank 3 of my hunting log, died a few times getting to last one. Accidentally ran into level 50's soldiers, lol.

My archer is 25 now, guess time to resume story.

Anyway to block gold seller spam? Its so bad in cities, and I've even seen it in zones now.

Wolven, how did you level your 2nd, and 3rd classes to 50?

I haven't yet. Second or third classes are going to bit a lot more difficult to level to 50 without grinding Fates and Leves like crazy. Now, to be fair, they're talking about instituting a "Daily Quest," system, wherein every day a handful of simple quests are introduced in order to facilitate leveling secondary classes, but it's not here yet.

And wasn't at the time of review.

Dev just posted that server transfer should be available at the beginning of October

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...nsfers-Early?p=1327831&viewfull=1#post1327831

Hello, everyone!

I know you all are extremely interested in when we will be starting our world transfer service. I apologize that the web site has not been updated and is displaying an older date, but I am happy to share that the service will be available in the beginning of October.

Apologies for the long wait, but we will be announcing further details very soon!

leveling second job is a pain in the butt, I don't even play that much now since it's so shit, lol. I just log on to do dungeon with friends, then a few fates if I feel like it.

I'm a secret Coke dealer in the bottomless pits of Limsa.

wat. shit's gonna be crazy if/when legacy can transfer onto fresh servers.

I probably wouldn't expect them to do much other than bust some of the economy if enough make it over. Literally everything on legacy servers goes for pennies if it isn't 2star HQs... and then those go for multiple millions since we have nothing else to spend on. FCmate dropped a multimeld 2star shield for 5m and sold it. No biggie.
