I upgraded from a 4850 to a 7950 and this game runs WORSE.
Whatthefuuuuuuuuuuuuck

If you have virus software, make sure you add FFXIV under the exceptions list... otherwise it's going to try to actively scan the game files and make it run like ass.

Not long? Some of them seem to last forever ...

Remove sounds, sheehs how ignorant can people be. They are actually quite useful.

Really if you want to blame someone, complain to SE. They made it so that the fatest way of getting tombstones is a story dungeon (CM). I perfectly understand both sides, its annoying either way.

I didn't time them but they didn't feel like all of them together took more than 7min. I'm sorry but if someone is in so much of a hurry that he can't wait for the 30s to 1min cutscene every once in a while for new players to the dungeon, he's just being rude.

None of the other people in the party had any problems with it after I announced it was my first time in the dungeon at the start. They even comforted me saying: no problem watch them.
But since the annoying one was a tank, he just started boss fights regardless if everyone was out of the cutscene or not and afterwards gloating: "How did it feel to get carried?"
Sure, lock people out of fights and then declare them useless when you don't get a chance to help.

About the sounds: When would you even use those system sounds, constructively? I'm not saying to remove the sounds, they are part of the game. Only that people don't need to have the ability to initiate those sounds in the client of others.
This does get paired with the fact that spamming is still possible of course, another mistake by Square-Enix.

I gotta utilize Stoneskin more now that I'm finally past dungeons that were way below my level.

Stoneskin is great for healing tanks that are poor at getting a groups aggro at the beginning of pulls, instead of healing and getting your face pummeled in stoneskin gives the tank enough time to piss off everyone. On that note though make sure the tank doesn't have regen on him/her when he pulls, you'll get all the aggro.

None of the cutscenes in CM are long, 30 seconds to a minute tops.

Sure you can blame SE for designing it the way it is but people acting like bum heads get equal blame in my book. It's not that long of a wait so why can't those guys be more considerate instead of selfishly rushing the shit out of people?

She's gawking at all the fucking Miqo'tes in game.

When i started this game, i knew i was gonna choke in cat fur.
Nothing could have prepared me for the amount i actually encountered, i'm tired of seeing cats.

Made myself a Roegadyn Hellsguard and lovin it.

The models they're using for Lightning and the outfits look so poor compared to the rest of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVSth5UDujM

That "moment" around 0:41, that has .gif potential imo.

In equal gear, WAR takes about 25% more damage and has laughably terrible defensive cooldowns as well. I'm going to be rolling PLD to 50 for sure because I like WAR, but I really need to have that other option.

Those -damage CDs they have aren't available at all times or even most of the time. In ideal scenarios with CDs available this is true, but from what I am seeing their lowest CD that directly reduces damage (Rampart) is a 20 sec duration on a 90 sec CD. Others like Rampart and Sentinel have an even longer CD and a similar duration.

Now, there is Shield Oath, but that is the counterpoint to WAR's Defiance and +25% HP on top of their other +HP skills is no joke, especially when both WHM and SCH have some healing skills that restore based on % of HP to synergize with that and WAR will be steadily recovering their own HP too. Also, their "+ healing taken" type effects are stronger and seem more consistent than a PLD, and these abilities affect their own self recovery as well.

That being said, "big hit" type stuff that is unavoidable seems to be common at the very end of endgame (Coil) which is obviously going to cater to PLD over WAR. Damage prevention is extremely powerful and often preferable to healing up damage taken regarding big hits, and while WAR healing might in theory be able to account for that, no healer in this type of environment is going to realistically want to wait around for said WAR to do so, especially when it is an uncertain thing. That's *probably* where the complaining is coming from.

I personally think WAR should be the tank with the low CD stun (as the "more aggressive" one) and WAR and their 'enhanced healing effects" should be about as long term and numerous as PLD's reduction CDs (they currently do not seem to match up). I am also not 100% sure on how much self healing they are capable of doing on demand, and how often, but if they can basically self-recover from a big hit with a big hit of their own + the HP recovery, that should be more than satisfactory.

While i have absolutely no problem healing WAR at all, i have not done Titan or Coil where the "problems" seem to be (that is literally all I have not done) and that is why i think the complaints are largely overblown. if it affects such a small part of the game (that most people have not even seen, let alone have major experience with), the danger of seeing a trickle down effect while not understanding what is actually wrong (a la FF11) is not acceptable. The complaints need to be directed at what is actually wrong with real examples available to point at so player feedback can lead to proper, meaningful fixes.

The big problem with CM is that the stupid cutscenes trigger in the middle of combat. I cleared it as a Scholar the first time and I had to cancel out of everything because the tanks kept charging ahead. :-/

I want to raid dungeons with gaffers and do quests *sniff* I don't have that much time to play these days, hopefully tonight I'll do it. Anyone knows when free time is over? Gotta add my credit card haha

I've got a 60 day game time card. Should I use it now or wait till my free time is over? I mean, will it just add the 60 days on top of the 9 days I have left or will those 9 days vanish into oblivion?

Yesssssssss. Finally.
Too bad I'm short about 400 tomes before I can actually get my relic.

Congrats!!

Against my better judgement I went with a pug group last night that was shouting. We did 6 runs until 1am est X_X. We had 1 run where we were really close but ultimately didn't get it done, the group was very friendly though, no fighting about acciental deaths from people. I have a lot more experience with it and hope I can take him down w/ the FC on Sarg soon :)

Is the best way to get materia still the same way it was in 1.0? Get new armor, for spiritbonding parties, and go kill shit?
I think its time for me to get some STR or VIT materia for my WAR already.

What is the best way to get a crafting profession to level 20 so you can access repeatable leves? Grinding? Doing the crafting log? Leves?

SE NA is slacking with the game time cards - EU had time for awhile now.

You used to be able to buy Ultimate Game Cards that turned into Crysta when applied to your account. You then just use the Crysta as your payment type. Ultimate Game Cards are sold at many retail locations and is sort of the same thing. Can you not do that anymore?

I've been able to make it there just making one of each item. This usually gets me to 18 or 19 without any grinding. After that I'll pick something easy to make in the last tier of craftables available and just grind that out.

I'm not sure... I was just talking more about the 30-60 day game sub cards that EU has. That Crysta method is good for those who don't want to use a credit/debit card, though.

tried some brayflox with randoms as a dd. it wasn't pretty. some people are just bad at the game, no matter how much you explain. i think i'll have to memorize or print out every skill name, so i can tell them which skill rotation to use on their character.

Dear WHMs: Please use Stoneskin as part of your normal rotation on Warrior tanks, thank you

I like to stoneskin my whole group and I try to stoneskin the tank before pulls, but using stoneskin during the fight on the tank is sometimes a bit tricky for me, because I found it to mostly wear off faster than regen can replenish (there have been exceptions), which at times has had me forced to spam more cures. Since then I use stoneskin in the middle of a fight on a tank sporadically, while I try to keep it on the DPS, since that will reduce the amount of healing I have to throw on them.

For paladin tanks, it isn't often worth it to use stoneskin mid-fight, but warriors have so much HP that it can work out. A lot of warriors I group with these days have over 7000 health, which is over 1250 HP mitigated by stoneskin with the WHM trait.

I notice people are less talkative in this game in comparison to FFXI. I also notice people never say "thank you" when you help them, at least, on Ultros. I bring it up because FFXI servers were international servers essentially, but it'd even the Japanese players would auto translate "thank you" if you helped them out. Of course, not all the time, but it was a lot more than never.

Darn Speedy Gonzalez players.

XI wasn't too chatty either, at least from my experience.

It was mostly just /bow and <Thank you.>. Not much actual chatter.

Not at a long wait? Dunno about you, but people doing endgame possible run this instance a few times a day, daily. If you have to wait each time it simply gets annoying. Guy didn't have to be an asshole but uh shit happens. Also just personally, I don't feel important enough to let 7 people wait (and waste their time) for 7 minutes for things that I can just watch in my INN room. SEs decision to make a story dungeon the only way of efficient farming tombstones has lead to this. That there will be an increased rate of idiots there is just a natural cause, nobody needed rocket science to predict this. I let people watch their cutscenes if they want to, but I am certainly not happy about this. When I did CM in the story, we were running out of time and people still kept on watching cutscenes (which meant we barely were able to finish the dungeon, people rather wanted to watch cutscenes and repeat 2h ...).

About the sounds, really do endgame, they can be really really helpful when used in the right way (for instance instant death attacks with a long cast time, tons of people that would have been killed got saved by those little helpful signals. Seen it often enough already.).

Which server? I was on Asura. Actually, I server transferred to Sylph a few months ago and people were still talkative there as well.

Stoneskin is definitely worth being casted whenever there's an opportunity in fights, but as a regular rotation? I'm not so sure. In theory stoneskin will mitigate the same amount on both tanks. While it does provide a bigger shield on WARs, thanks to our +25%hp, it will be destroyed quicker than a PLD, who has a -20% dmg reduction baked into his tank stance. There should be no difference, in terms of how much dmg stoneskin prevents, on either tank.

I was in a group yesterday to fight Hydra, the fight was going well but the other tank wasn't standing in the position I kept telling them to stay in, and thus, i (as the other tank) would go down and we'd constantly get wiped.

The leader says we need a better tank. I said the other tank wasn't listening to me cause of this and that, and I got kicked out of the party. I'm like wtf? And the funny thing is that they kept coming out of the battle wiped, and the other tank would complain too but the leader didn't listen.. Lol.

I'm more surprised that there are whms out there not taking advantage of stoneskin. I tend to use it a bit to help mitigate damage, both on tanks and dps. It doesn't offer as much help on PLD, but I can usually pop one pretty easy in the middle of a fight with Swiftcast -> Stoneskin to avoid some burst damage and pair it with Regen instead of blasting cures to get them back to full.

They sit at half to 2/3 health and come back up while taking next to no dmg. Even with the mp cost, I haven't really had any issues with running out, even during some longer battles or bosses.

Not sure if it uses the character's personal defense for attacks or something else entirely. All I do know is amount mitigated is based purely on the hp of the target. Based on my causal observation, I've seen that WAR tanks seems to keep up stoneskin a little longer than PLD.

I don't care for XIII but all the people up in arms over it need to just move on. It's just crossover content. We already have some going forward with XI, DQX. More than likely they'll use XIV to promote anything huge going forward. Wouldn't be surprised to see XV in some form in the future as well simply to promote.

It's just side content afterall.

I hope Saber's Edge appears for the final battle of the FATE. Looks like it might be some sort of quest though, or maybe if we're lucky, a long guildhest / something with duty finder?

I just dont see it being fun if a FATE, especially considering how many people will run there.

Defiers of Fate would have been a better theme to use than the normal version of Blinded by Light.

Test of the L'cie>> Saber's Edge
