This is my first MMORPG ever and I was lost at first, but eventually picked up on things. I never used any sort of YouTube guides for the game as well - things just clicked with me. Though if you want some resources and basic rundown of things, check this site out:

Press Start. Can somebody tell me how I can map a menu section to the hot bar on PS3?
Like I already have a shortcut to Character, I would like to have one for Recommendations.
According to some comments on xivdb, the Inner Quiet effect is removed by using Byregot's Blessing. You'll probably get the 20% bonus the first time but not the subsequent times?I have a Question about the Carpenter's lv 50 Skill Byregot's Blessing.
Does using the ability itself add to the bonus to Inner Quiet? Then giving it another 20% bonus? Say something like this:
Inner Quiet
Steady Hand
Standard Touch - 125%
Standard Touch - 125%
Byregot's Blessing - 140%
Byregot's Blessing - 160%
Byregot's Blessing - 180%
Would it work like this?

So I wanted to play an MMO and got this because I had credit on Green Man Gaming. I have no idea what I'm doing though. I've just been questing and am currently level 16. I just heard about getting a second class and all this stuff ... Kinda confused.
Is there any YouTube video that explains all the mechanics in the game?
Have they said when we can expect to see the barber shop, so we can change the hairstyle of our character?
Wait... I got myself to lvl 15 but I can't take he airship to Uldah or Limsa Lominsa? How can I get my airship pass? =/
it is plan for 2.1 patch (December I assume)
I give up on Titan.
I've spent so much more time trying to beat him as a tank, then I would have, if I just ran CM a bunch of times, farmed up the tomes, for the items and sold them on the AH for gil, to pay the Titan farming people.
So much more. It's not that I find the fight hard - it's that I have no control over the outcome, save for doing things like making rotation macros and warning people out of plumes. But even doing all that, assembling groups with decent gear, etc, etc... none of it works out.
The logistical challenges of getting a team of people geared and experienced enough to beat Titan are just too difficult and luck based for me to overcome unfortunately.
I mean... the jump in difficulty, on one hand, doable, evidenced by many titan clears. On the other hand, absurdly high, evidenced by the amount of heads bashed against the titan wall.
It just feels like there's a missing step between Garuda and titan - it goes from a reactive fight, where you can look at effects on ground and respond, into a memorization fight, where people need to know ahead of time what's coming in order to stand a good chance at avoiding the stuff. Up until this point, you've been conditioned with hundreds of hours of gameplay to play a reactive game.
And if anyone fails for whatever reason... the chances of the whole team failing are very high. I tip my hat to those that have had the skill/luck/patience to beat Titan legit. But I've had enough.
I give up on Titan.
What server are you on/are you using the DF?
So got bootcamp going on my Macbook and ran the benchmark program last night...got 2000! Seemed ok. Then I ran it again this morning and got 1000. Balls. AFAIK I didn't have anything running in the background either time, so it should have been the same. I'm a bit worried now that if I shell out for the PC version it's gonna have slowdown and be no fun to play.
man what's up with the lvl49 quests at northern thanalan, they were available when my pld was already 50, and i can't do them on my lvl47 war
don't have a ps3?![]()

Except the game conditions you to use 2 tanks, 2 healers, 4 dps for every encounter. Then you get to HM Titan. If you bring a second tank it's a liability. Another healer or dps is much more useful to the fight. So you end up with an encounter with a glut of tanks shouting in Mor Dhona trying to run Titan, but there's not enough groups to go around.Sorian said:Sound like any other top tier MMO encounter. There is usually that one fight in a raid where the team just needs to know the fight like the back of their hand. You aren't reacting, you are just doing.
On Sarg, using both premades and DF groups.
Best run was with a DF group down to 20%. As a PLD DPS.
Looks like my graphic card is slowly dying, I'll have to reduce my FFXIV time. x_x
Perfect timing - October is just around the corner! Which means: new AMD GPUs, price drops on last generation GPUs, and price wars with Nvidia!
I give up on Titan.

I know this feel; fortunately there's a FC event happening today.titanpugs.jpg
They're lvl49 quests after all.
But I can do them on lower levels, just can't complete them.
As is the case with all quests from my understanding. You have to have the correct prereqs on the class you have selected at the moment to turn in the quest.
I haven't played for two whole weeks. Signed in a day or so ago and I just cannot muster the effort to grind from 47 to 49 to progress the main story.
Think I'm gonna give up and wait till the PS4 version launches and pray they include more 40+ levelling content.
Sorry guys.

I think I'm missing the point of a Free Company, but I just helped a low level Lalafell through Sastasha because she couldn't find a healer to go with her. She was in a very large FC with 315 people.
How are you in a 315 man FC and NOBODY is a healer who wants/has time/is able to help his member beat the first story dungeon?
What is going on in this community? It's sunday afternoon in europe and I was three times in server queue before because of too many people.
This is so sad. It's not even a question of "she could've DF'd it".
Are big FCs now the Eorzean version of Facebook, where everyone and their mother wants in, but nobody wants to do anything with most of its members?
Sadness. Poor Lalafell.
Wait, let me drop everything I'm doing to help everyone who needs something.
