Anyone up for a relaxed CM run [for newbies or those doing their story-quests and don't want to be rushed]? I currently got the quest and would rather run it with the GAF FC rather than use Duty Finder [since I know many will likely complain when I watch the cut-scenes for my first time through].

I'll be logging on in the next five minutes or so [and will ask in FC chat] in-case anyone is interested!

In 14 1.0 you only had linkshells, and those had to take the part of guilds. Here, you have linkshells and FC. But what good is a FC where members share bank gil, items and buffs, if you can't trust your members or if it's so overblown that nobody feels responsible for anything your members do?

My FC is 30 men strong, and of course nobody is on all the time, but if someone needs help we arrange stuff to help him progress.
I know all of this responsibility or actual sense of player solidarity goes out of the window by having this duty finder, but is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I sort of get what you are saying, and I feel like there is some stuff SE definitely needs to work on a bit. Most of them I can think up off the top of my head revolve around taking more aggressive stances against gilseller spamming by making it easier to blist them/limiting the amount of shouting allowed per minute/ect so people actually want to turn on shouts/yells again to see what's up in town. There's also the fact that the class imbalance would likely be better if there were at least a few more low level tank/healer options (there really should be at least 3 of each imo but w/e).

However, DF fixes a lot more problems than it solves. How many times was i stuck in Rolanberry Fields without a party all afternoon/evening in FF11 on my SMN or PUP or BST? More times than i care to mention. Same with my Enchanter outside Qeynos in EQ, people begged her for Breeze, but god forbid they let me exp with them. And I didn't even want in a dungeon! i just wanted exp! (this is probably a reason why i started gravitating to healers, now that i think about it)

With DF it ide-ncentives other equal or even worse forms of community aggravation that tend to be forgotten, like stacking a per-concieved FotM class or excluding *insert "underpowered" class here* intentionally. There is NOTHING stopping that person from repeating the "good ol days' and building a pt if the DF is taking too long, but where would said person be if it wasn't even there? I promise they likely would not be any closer to that pt. Yes, it sucks that her FC didn't want to help them, but this is standard MMO fare that has been going on as long as the genre has been around. DF is a tool like any other, and meeting friends to get oneself through those rough patches (not just mindless guildmates) is a valuable skill to learn. People like you taking action to help is another good thing.

Using DF smartly just reduces aggravation and wait times

You should always be looking for party members to do dungeons with in FC->LS->Shout order to build up your social network

Barring a few specific situations (tanks at Titan, ugh), you can almost always get at least one or two people for any particular dungeon or duty before you hit the DF

Hey now, they all did their part and did it great. The only real carry was a tank because, well, he's a tank.

I'm unsure of the other group's status. We started a bit later than when the groups formed.

I wiped a lot in DF just now but it was fun. We even made it past heart phase a few times.

I don't mind wiping because people are learning the fight, or because people made a mistake or two. Its wiping again and again because people are lagging or such thats particularly frustrating.

I'm sending them to farm CM for their crafted stuff.
825 for a chest, suck it up and pay 1250 (using the tenth item to pay for other mats) for the 70hq one!

Now to [hopefully] run Praetorium later tonight and I'll be completed with my main story quests [until post-game, of course]. At the very least I won't need to be worried for watching the cut-scenes.

Man, the mythology cap really hurts secondary job progression. After relic I pretty much can't do anything with BLM as BC and all my myths are spent on PLD.

There's a reason they didin't do it that way. Stack all BLM for Primal's No one else can get group, gg

You can run AK with full AF and an Ifrit weapon, so that's what most people do. You get more tomes from CM and Prae speedruns than from WP as well. It's a neglected dungeon unfortunately because the other options are better.

The first time I went to AK with full DRG AF and an HQ Champion's Lance (which was a few weeks ago), the tank looked at me like I was the biggest nincompoop in the world for even queueing up for it.

It ended up failing since he wanted me to tank and kill golems by myself while the healer healed both him and myself at the same time. I still haven't beat AK yet because of it, so I've been doing CM runs mostly. I can't seem to get the Ifrit Harpoon to drop either. Bad luck all around

FFXI did this fine without having these kind of problems.

EDIT: I don't think any enemy flat out absorbed or nulled damage. But there was plenty of heavy resist and weakness.

I know FFXI was on consoles, but I feel the battle system would be too crazy for ps3 users if that was the case. Specially if all classes had elemental attacks.

Eh, gearing up another class just seems to be a pain the ass entirely. My monk will have its relic and only be in AF / AK gear.

What console/handheld RPG doesn't have some kind of weakness/resist system in place? It's just another case of developers thinking too little of their customer base.

EDIT: Yeah, they they should definitely do something about the tomes limit. Maybe up the limit some for every level 50 class you have? Or just have the limit be class dependent entirely.

Class stacking gets rampant pretty quickly in all MMOs.
Wouldn't have been a problem for levelling stuff, but if there was a weakness system for endgame fights, i'd be seriously upset.
It's a knowledge-based mechanic that adds nothing to the game but keybind-swapping, for an MMO.

So my friend's gf is having problems with pc xiv where her game would lag periodically (where everything in the game pauses for a few seconds, she can still move), my friend doesn't have this problem on ps3 and they are both under the same network/router. Anyone has any idea why?

My friend says he might be throttled by his ISP on P2P (mistakenly thinking they are torrenting), I'm not too familiar with that, can they do that for just computer and not the console?

You can offer directly in the chat, or alternatively you can sell your services to non-gaf members at the markets in the cities. Probably better not to subsist on GAF alone.

Finaly got CUL to 37 for steady hand 2. It's such a good skill it's practically mandatory.
Crafted some new tools and upgraded my crafting gear as I level CRP (currently 34) to 50.

My Roe looks pretty good in this stuff...

Also, all aboard the female Roe hype train (We need to get all the Fem Roes in GAF and have a Costa Beach Party sometime, or an all Fem Roe HM Titan cause that would be awesome)!

I'm thinking of giving up my WAR and go full SCH.

Yeah the elitism was off the charts in that group. Haven't even attempted to do it again since. My GC quest for AK has just been collecting dust on the side of my screen

So I finally got around to starting this game, only problem is that it's not possible to make a character on Ultros where my friends are. Has Square made a statement on it being possible to start your character on one server, then moving it to another?

Changing the framerate limit made me go from a max of 14fps with everything turned off to an average of 55fps with the game completely maxed out.

How much do people usually charge? Decided to level the craft I needed for my relic weapon instead of looking to pay someone to do it for me.

After Fate grinding today and getting a lot of seals, I am still absolutely puzzled about some of the Grand Company rewards.

Like, I understand why a lot of this stuff costs a lot of seals. But even assuming I kept Fates to an absolute minimum and did nothing but Guildleves, I don't really see how I could even afford a lot of these items at appropriate levels unless I'm really missing something here. Like, there might be a pretty good level 40 bow, but I need a fair amount of seals. And before that, I need to spend like 15k+ seals just promoting to even be able to buy said bow. And by the time I actually do promote all the way and get enough seals, all of the gear is completely obsolete (because even in Guildleves and Hunting Logs, I still would get exp, and the only other option is giving them rare stuff for usually crap amounts of seals). I can see the merit in the level 50 stuff, but so much of the Grand Company items have been completely superfluous for me and 100% of my seals go to promoting.

Just to reiterate what Vero said, those 10 Titan kills we pulled people in for today was far from carries. Each person (minus the tank we got the kill for, which he couldn't help since we had a tank we were using already) we brought in demonstrated they knew the fight and handled themselves very well.
