I find it interesting that they came right out and talked about the budget for Stormblood. 3x the cost of HW makes me confident in better content.

So the way it would work is you'd need to own ARR, then get HW and go through that, and then you'd get Stormblood to access all that content? Have I got that right?

Given people have been practically begging for it for years, we didn't get a melee dps class last expansion, and the main villains design I think it 99.9% likely we're getting samurai.

If red mage and dancer are confirmed, the only role left is tank, assuming dancer isnt

Will drop WoW sub and try this out again.
Start was way too slow for my liking when I last tried during the last Xpac's release. I'll see if I can force myself through it.

Raising specs/dropping legacy support is not a good thing in my eyes when it comes to MMOs. MMOs should be about longterm community building and over time should allow a variety of different specs to play the game, not updates to make things prettier/flashier.

And yeah, it sucks with WoW too.

Because I don't just think of things from how they effect me personally.
You're in an incredibly small minority.

Yeah, the Garlean is definitely a SAM.

I'm thinking SAM is the tank, RDM is the DPS and we'll have something else for the Healer.

Also the Samurai came close to being the tank class for the last expansion, but they decided to go for Dark Knight in the end. So they clearly have plans of bringing it into the game.

Dancer isn't confirmed, the girl in the trailer was a monk.
Also they haven't said that there is only going to be three classes yet. Given that apparently they've been given around double (edit: TRIPLE! Jesus) the budget for this expansion compared to heavensward it's entirely possible we might see more.

Exciting stuff! I'm pleased to see some of the developments like drop of PS3 support and more inventory space. I'm a little worried this might be the same content we've been grinding with a reskin and a handful of new areas. This is not a complaint, just an observation. I feel Heavensward played itself safe with the core gameplay mechanics and progression -- albeit I think the story this time was outstanding.

That said, this looks like a smart move forward for this game. Looking forward to it!

No Samurai?

I guess Im not resubbing then

Samurai can still be in. That Garlean is definitely a samurai. Big katana in the right hand, and if you zoom in on the left hand they're holding some multi sheath thing. Those holes are katana shaped.

Looks heavily armored, though. Makes me think its a tank. Still hoping for dps, though

1. Still only one 2 handed melee dps
2. No melee dps last time around (though something else could fil that role)
3. Yoshi said he considers it a dps.
4. Yoshi also said they were deciding between DRK and SAM for the tank. That doesn't mean they didn't change their mind after that, but still.

RDM will probably be melee dps

I wish these people could somehow make the standard FF games, too. Heavensward was so refreshing.

Anyway, looks great. Amano art is always fabulous to see, as well.

Are players going to be required to go through the base game storyline and Heavensward before being able to experience any of Stormblood's content? If so, the game is becoming more and more inaccessible to anyone thinking of joining.

Played Heavensward and finished its story (at the time) 2 months after it was released, I'm kinda scared to re-sub and catch up with everything.

He's already said that he was leaning DPS for Samurai. If samurai ends up in Stormblood (and I think it will), then going two DPS would be pretty lame for the other roles, considering DPS is already the most popular.

The problem is a chunk of the playerbase will get pissed off if a job they want to play ends up anything other than DPS. As if a tank or healer isn't a fully fledged job. If they do 3 jobs again, I'd want Samurai or Red Mage as tank, and the other as dps, then dancer as healer.

Also, new inventory slots is nice, but I really want a glamour tab like WoW has now.

And improved character creation please. They said we couldn't have butt sliders due to PS3 limitations. Eorzea deserves more than pancakes for butts.

I'm really excited by what they've shown- especially the additional inventory space and revamp of useless abilities. The areas look gorgeous! Also as a Monk main, I'm happy we finally get our day in the sun.

You mean consistently being the biggest damage dealer is not enough? :p

And pretty much since the start of ARR right? And I think MNK complaints had a hand in NINs initial nerf, which wasn't even necessary.

Yeah looking forward to hearing nothing else from MNKs after this lol.

Yay for Red Mage!

Samurai is obviously coming, but I hope it will be a tank instead of DPS. A master of parry, dodge, and counter attack. We're always lacking of tanks, we don't need more DPS, especially a very popular one.

I've heard multiple times that Samurai wont be playable and its just a boss class.

I mean I've been waiting this class to resub for god knows how long. And now I guess I never will
Where are you getting your information?

I just resubbed after a year (quit around the first set of savage Alex). You just mentioned lacking tanks, so DRK didn't solve that...another popular job made into a tank. Why should they do that with SAM? We're still going to be lacking tanks at the end of the day. It's just something a vast majority doesn't want to do, and it's always going to be that way.

Please the people on this one, I say. Make SAM a dps.

The singing for the pa3 drop was the best. Good riddance and let's hope for addons in the future!

Ps please let there be dnc dps

I just hope the new tank has new mechanics.

I don't want to see another tank stance gives 20% increased defense and the corresponding dps stance that just gives a percentage increase.

I want the new tank to have stances that interact with its other abilities in some way or hell if they can come up with a tank that uses no stances at all and has some other way of of fulfilling its role as a tank while also allowing it to do more dps at a sacrifice to defense like the current tanks do then that would be really cool imo.

Compared to Heavensward first trailer this is just disappointing. It just flash out one location and throw in some monk moves.

Because they want people to play tank jobs and matching tanks with a cool design, like DRK, it's a way to appeal more people.

This. Samurai for DPS.

DRK didn't solve that entirely, but at least it has a noticeable impact.

Back then, a DPS could wait for a whole hour to get into a dungeon from a duty finder. It's much shorter nowadays.

You described DRK

Whoever is complaining about PS3 support being dropped never played the game on PS3 when Hunts first came out two years ago. You couldn't even see the enemy and the game lagged like a bitch because of all the spells from other players.

I'm super stoked for this. Hopefully there's more post-MSQ content in 4.0 unlike 3.0
