Kinda late to the party and i doubt it's going to be making it as clear as some rule 34 already did somewhere.
I mean, i would asume that every transformer is gay by our definition since i never saw them with specific sex characteristics, at least the ones i'm familiar with. There is a whole bunch of lore to be readjusted and explained to make this a thing, how do you determine the sex of transformers? the color of the spark? the voice? are we going to actually get robo dicks and pussies ? sounds complicated to explain without making it about sex, it's not like transformers wear skirts and trousers.

Youd think leaving out sexuality and hooking up in any media would be the best choice so everyone can think what they want and devs dont have to pick sides. If someone wants to think a mafia guy is gay or not, go ahead. If someone wants to think Chuck Norris in his million action movies is gay or not, think what you want.
But low self esteem losers need to be spoon fed material into their eyes, ears and brain so they think exactly what they see to be happy. And instead of just watching a sci-fi script for what it is, they need reassurance to help their egos even if the script involves robots battling over energon cubes to control a planet of other robots.

Some people think God is forced to take on male avatars, and we all must be brides of God(men and women alike), but the japanese are fond of portraying God as taking the avatar of little girls(lain and madoka for example, also in nier there's a kind of artificial godlike lifeform and it too is a little girl.).
I say I prefer girl avatar to male avatar.

Humans will naturally gravitate to making things understandable and easier to relate with - that is make it human like.
If people think deep down, it doesn't make sense for robots to be gendered or have sexual relationships. But when the robots walk and act human and have human voice acting instead of robot noises with subtitles, people (including the writers) will have probability to make it more human-ish.
Next step is robot lip stick and mascara.
I'm not religious, but for all the visuals of gods, which ranges from the typical Zeus looking guy in the clouds to Indian elephants, it just comes down to visuals and religions needing something for people to grasp the concept. Most of the time, it'll be a human or human-like entity. Even if it's an animal, it'll probably stand on two feet and hold something in a 5 digit hand. Makes no sense really but it is what it is. And people will naturally believe wisdom comes from humans, especially an old guy because the assumption is an old guy is smarter than a young person. And a man is smarter and more powerful than a woman, so any gods with a gender, its probably a guy.
You never know, maybe there is a god on this earth and it's a millipede, but nobody would believe that. But say god is a white haired guy wearing a robe somewhere floating in the galaxy and some reason that would be more believable.
