Its pretty obvious where this game got its influence from, whether the team was made up from ex-Deus Ex members or Crystal Dynamics really loved Deus Ex, Project Snowblind (PS) has too many similarities to ignore. Whether its the characters, the story, the setting, all of it feels reminicent of Deus Ex...problem is, this game isn't Deus Ex, its a straight up first person shooter.
In addition to your standard fighting, your character is also issued a series of augmentations to help out, and must be recharged with bio mods to fill up your depleted energy when used. The augmentations serve either as defensive or offensive abilities to help you out in combat. The gameplay is fast and often times frantic. What is a FPS without vehicles right, there were only 2 levels where I encounted vehicles and the served mostly as a gimmick then any real use.
The problem the game runs into though is that its average, it came out about 2 years too late. It has alot of cool elements, puts it all together but what your left with is a fast paced FPS game that doesn't exactly do anything new, just does it the same as before. Even with the selection of weapons, only 3 are of any real use, same goes with the augmentations, you'll find yourself really only using one or two to help you out.
I played the PC version and I was VERY impressed with the engine, not a single slow-down and some of the special effects were very cool, even with all the gun fighting, I hardly noticed a dip in frame rate, not to mention the game did not crash on me once either.
The single player isn't long, but those looking for a fast FPS game to keep them busy for a short time this could be the answear. A good pick up in the 10-20$ price range.
My score. 7.5/10
