Score: 8.6

The Good
Tried-and-true gameplay is a great blend of strategy and role-playing; Riveting, richly woven storyline will hook you and keep you immersed; Lengthy journey spans 30 hours or more--multiple difficulty settings, too; Beautiful soundtrack hits all the right notes;

The Bad
Unimpressive 3D graphics sacrifice some of the series' old charm; Plays it safe with the formula and presentation almost to a fault;

I don't think anyone posted this after I search, but thanks to SpiffyG for this.

I never actually played a Fire Emblem game on the GBA (too into Advance Wars), but I'll definitely check this one out, so this is basically like a new franchise to me. Sounds great.

You are in for such a fucking treat.

Not trying to compare, but what did BW get on GS?
8.3

I would be satisfied with the review if SSX On Tour didn't also get an 8.6. I posted this quote in the official PoR thread, but it seems like if you aren't a fan, you aren't going in that thread. So here it is, again:

"After all, by replacing the traditional random battles that typify most Japanese role-playing games with a fun and exciting turn-based combat system, and by going out of its way to deliver a memorable and genuinely emotional story, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance accomplishes what all role-playing games attempt, but very few actually manage to do."

Awesome. Sacred Stones had a weak story. I'm glad this one has a great/even better than FE 7 story.

oh shit my wallet is crying as I read this thread

what a week! Damn. add this to SoTC and Batman Begins DVD

Yeah, good move. Like the AW series, the worst complaint that can be levelled against the FE games is that they aren't terribly different from one another. If you've never played one, Godspeed!

Stubbs the Zombie rounds out the week. Get that in the TRU deal next week. :D

I'm still waiting for a Fire Emblem game with cannons and primitive guns. And after that, they can make a futuristic one... with plasma guns and flying ships. That sure would be a change of pace.

I keep hearing about that deal, so how does that deal work?

Someone wants me to have a heartattack and then go on a banning spree.

I can't remember if Rekka no Ken had a gun or not.

Hopefully they let you mix systems, so you can buy two games and get a third one for free. Shadow of the Colossus would have to be the one that's free though, since it's $40.

did you play AW? because apart from a plasma gun(wtf? :lol ) flying ships are in AW you should try it.

Forget I said anything.

What is this AW you speak of Error?
AW is set in modern almost futuristic setting. and it doesn't play much different from FE. so you should try it.

I know. I was being sarcastic. But I never enjoyed Advance Wars very much. Maybe it would have been better if it had RPG elements and the art style of Fire Emblem?

Bomber leveled up!

Bomber is promoting to Stealth Bomber!

I'm watching the video review, and guess what? IGN is wrong again!!

The mouths are moving. I repeat. The mouths are moving! :lol

That is all.

Yeah... they were wrong about that and the soft reset.

I like Peer but if this is true then I would think botching the first westernized console Fire Emblem review would be more of concern. The is the first formal introduction of the series to a lot of non-handheld gamers so it was very important to keep the review as accurate as possible.

and there shouldn't be. that's what the stickied threads are there for.

In general, from what I've seen the major games have always been allowed the sticky thread and then two threads for IGN and Gamespot reviews. Basically just to seperate the straight up game talk from the crying about decimal points crew.

I actually hate Akira Toriyama. ;)
Oh... do you put that as your title just to get people like me to say I like Akira Toriyama so you get the chance to say how much you hate him?

No, I didn't put this title on me. It was a joke title I received after ranting about how much I hate him and dread the Blue Dragon work :P

Interesting. Well carry on then. I don't want to get into why you hate him so much. :D

Trap failed!
What trap? I was being serious. I don't even know enough about Akira Toriyama to debate about him. You would say something about him and all I could say is "But... Dragon Ball Z... and Chrono Trigger! C'mon!"
