I used to hate the awesomebar (mainly because I'm used to typing one or two letters to get to my sites), but after using it for a while, it's just what the bar says: awesome. One click bookmarking makes it more awesome.

I'm finally glad they changed the way history saves. No more lag everytime you go through the history section.

The only downside is that everything zooms in and not just text. It's not terrible, it's just annoying browsing places with a lot of large images since I always like to have large font so I don't sit close to the monitor.

ok i downloaded and installed and so far i'm really impressed, although i'm a bit disappointed that i won't be utilizing the uber awesome address bar since i've been using del.ico.us to manage my bookmarks since like forever :/ so is there a way to use delicious while still getting the most of the new address bar?

the second question i hope a helpful gaffer would answer: as soon as i updated i noticed that a new menu was added to my bookmark tool-bar which is "most visited". it's something i can see myself using in the future but not at the moment, so i removed it...

now just out of curiosity i'm trying to get it back via bookmark organization but i can't, is there a way to bring it back? (it's one of those folders that has a blue icon with a search symbol)

Is it possible to deactivate the awesome bar and use the classic one? I didn't really like it in the RC versions cause it's weird.

How to disable the awesome-bar: (stolen from a blog which stole it from another blog, which stole it from another blog etc).

Go to your Firefox settings by putting "about:config" into the location bar. Click past the warning message, and scroll down to browser.urlbar.RichResults. This sets how many recommendations the Awesome Bar will display -- it's 12 by default, but you want to change it to 0.
For those that want Firefox 2's address bar:

Is there still no way for Firefox to not be a memory hog? :( I've been using opera for a long time but decided to give the new firefox a go and immediately noticed it using at least twice as much memory as opera. So is there a way to fix that or should I just stick with Opera as my main browser?

OK, help me out here.

1) What was the previous font ff used? I'm not a fan of new time roman...

2) How do I turn off the stupid star things in the new menu. I don't want people knowing where I've been, thanks.

Is anyone else having a problem with FF remembering things? After a while I get I get logged out of all the places I go to. In FF2 I remained logged in until I manually cleared my cache.

Thanks cjelly. The Awesome Bar is awesome if you are the only person who uses/has access to the machine. Otherwise it will be source for some really awkward moments. :D

As i write this, Firefox 3 is just shy of hitting 2 million downloads. Here is a link to the download counter page which monitors the downloads live and compares the biggest countries.

I need this answer too, i ended up uninstalling, and checking the 'lose all preferences' checkmark thing, to get it back (after backing up bookmarks), just had to reinstall all my addons / greasemonkey scripts, was a bitch tho.

Does anyone know what the general percentage is on what browsers are used?

I mean, where does Firefox match up compared to Explorer, Safari, etc?

I used to use explorer but I switched a few months ago when I needed to download something that explorer wouldn't take for some reason...:lol

Also, when you have multiple tabs open, when you open a new one, is there an option to make it so that that tab doesn't go to the end of the list?

It's a small, petty issue, but I like to keep my tabs in a specific order.....:D

(And yes, I understand that you can switch the tabs manually)

I recently saw in the Euro, FF had made 25ish% marketshare. It's lower here in the US, but a lot of that is corporate users who don't have a choice.

Safari, Seamonkey, Opera, Konqueror = lolz I'm sure Safari has a few percent and as Macs become more mainstream it will probably increase.

Noooo!! My pimpzilla theme! :(

I'm not really sure what to make of this.. it doesn't feel any different from 2.0
On the other hand I mostly just browse stuff.

I´d like to know that too. In this aspect IE7 is better (keeps tabs of one subject/site together).

Thats one thing I liked a bit better about it.

For the most part, they are pretty much the same to me though (But as an above user said, I pretty much just browse).

Use Tab Mix Plus for all your tab customizing needs. One of my most favorite add ons

edit: fixed link to get the dev build, which works flawlessly on FF3

You can do that if you're retarded :p

Keep using it, you'll realise how much better it is pretty soon.

My favorite application ever got updated. \o/

And my prayers have been answered, cause just yesterday I hoped FF3 would come out soon, to fix a problem (which it did :)).

- Greasemonkey
- Mouse gestures
- Glasser look
- Y! Mail notifier
- Download Statusbar

Yay!

What's this one all about?

It's just a little notifier for your yahoo! Mail account. Little envelope-icon on the status bar when you've got new mails, click on it, and go directly to your inbox.

I'm fairly sure there are similar add-ons for Gmail and the likes.
