So did everyone forgive him for the scandal stuff?
Thats not a scandal, thats a tuesday.
So did everyone forgive him for the scandal stuff?
The people sitting in front of him, not so much? The people sitting behind him did.
He was arrested but not completely charged for having nude pictures of minors:
Not a real problem. I believe he bought lots of vintage pornography and there was "artsy" porn that cops/prosecutors tried to make out to be more than it was. My father, an accomplished fine art photographer, once bought a collection of nude photos that Lewis Carroll took of children (specifically because, holy shit, Lewis Carroll took nude pictures of kids?!). As pornography it's as boring as Victorian porn could get, yet I suppose it's technically CP. So is a copy of a Traci Lords porn movie, or the cover of Blind Faith's album.Ok, that's a problem. I don't recall hearing about this.
Undercover cops used to sit in porno theaters and arrest people for masturbating. Can you imagine, someone masturbating to pornography? Heaven forfend!I mean, what's the point if you can't jerk it in one of these establishments?
Did someone report him hoping to shit on a celebrity?
that was pre Buffy- so yeah I think so (ages ago)

From Wikipedia:
Pornography arrest: 2002
In November 2002, while filming David LaChapelle's video for Elton John's "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore", Reubens learned that police were at his home with a search warrant, acting on a tip from a witness in the pornography case against actor Jeffrey Jones,[67] finding among over 70,000 items of kitsch memorabilia, two grainy videotapes and dozens of photographs that the city attorney's office characterized as a collection of child pornography.[2] Kelly Bush, Reubens' personal representative at the time, said the description of the items was inaccurate and claimed the objects were "Rob Lowe's sex videotape, and a few 30- to 100-year-old kitsch collectible images."[68] Reubens turned himself in to the Hollywood division of the LAPD and was charged with possession of obscene material improperly depicting a child under the age of 18 in sexual conduct.[69] The District Attorney looked at Reubens' collection and computer and found no grounds for bringing any felony charges against him, while the city attorney, Rocky Delgadillo brought misdemeanor charges against Reubens on the last day allowed by the statute.[70] Reubens was represented by Hollywood criminal defense lawyer Blair Berk.[71] In December he pleaded not guilty through Berk, who also complained that the city attorney failed to turn over evidence to the defense, which City Attorney Richard Katz countered that prosecutors were not required to do until after arraignment, after which they did; neither side disclosed the contents.[72]
"One thing I want to make very, very clear, I don't want anyone for one second to think that I am titillated by images of children. It's not me. You can say lots of things about me. And you might. The public may think I'm weird. They may think I'm crazy or anything that anyone wants to think about me. That's all fine. As long as one of the things you're not thinking about me is that I'm a pedophile. Because that's not true."
Paul Reubens on the charges.[26]
In March 2004, child pornography charges were dropped in exchange for Reubens' guilty plea to a lesser charge. For the next three years he had to register his address with the sheriff's office and could not be in the company of minors without their parents' permission.[26] Reubens later stated that he was a collector of erotica, including films, muscle magazines and a sizable collection of mostly homosexual vintage erotica,[2] such as photographic studies of teen nudes.[26] Reubens claimed that what the city attorney's office viewed as pornography, he considered to be innocent art and that what they described as people underage engaged in masturbation or oral copulation was in fact a judgmental point of view of the nudes that Reubens described as people "one hundred percent not" performing sexual acts.[26] Being a big collector, Reubens had often bought in bulk, with one of his vintage magazine dealers declaring that "there's no way" he could have known the content of each page in the publications he bought and that he recalled Reubens asking for "physique magazines, vintage 1960s material, but not things featuring kids".[2]

Even Mr. Rodgers tossed off every now and then. It's not a big deal.Oh, people cared. He portrayed a character geared towards children.

Did Mr Rogers break any laws doing so?
It's a stupid law and a waste of police resources to enforce. Public indecency statutes should be applied if someone is lewd and lascivious in a open setting where that activity is unexpected. In a pornographic theater, no such expectation would exist. The theater management expects such behavior to occur; in fact, if it were actively discouraged, they would have lost business. Literally a victimless crime.Did Mr Rogers break any laws doing so?
why does he look the same as he did in Pee Wee's Big Adventure
His show wasn't cancelled so much as it was ended mutually by Rubens and CBS. And the deal was done before the scandal took place. It just happened to be at the same time the show aired its last episode. As a kid I asked my dad why he was arrested and he told me "for having his fly down in public" to scare me into making sure I always zipped up. I guess technically he was right.I was huge fan and was bummed out his show was canceled.
As a collector, like most eccentric collectors who have a lot of money, he bought stuff in bulk and probably never actually looked through it. Plus, the pre-80s were a completely different time. And a lot of it might not even have been marked with the ages of the people in the photos. It wasn't illegal to show nude minors in film at that point. That law was passed relatively recently. What do you mean PC? This was all physical media. This was 1991. You didn't have an internet with JPGs of porn on a hard drive. You had books with pages and photographs and film strips. He was a collector in the same way many of us are. He just collected something a bit more questionable. If the bulk of his collection was "vintage erotica" in general, and a few pics happened to be of teens. That paints a completely different picture in my mind compared to if the bulk of his collection was "vintage teen erotica". Since the DA looked at his PC and found no grounds for felony charges, I'm hoping he was just a collector of "vintage erotica" in general and wasn't into the kid or teen stuff. Basically I'd have to know more about his complete collection to properly judge how I feel.
Yessss I cannot wait for this! Love me some Pee Wee.

Well, that's scary.
Lines like this are why I love the movie. It's more than he has a rube goldbergish house and I hope this film realizes that"Everyone I know has a big but. How about you Simone. what's your big but? "
"...wow Pee Wee, no one's ever put it to me like that before."
As someone not from the US and never seen his show/movies(?) I would like ask one thing.
Has he always been a "always happy child" version of Mr. Bean like in this trailer?
Wait, explain to me how you can be found in possession of child porn and not be a pedophile. If that's your 'defense' for the case, then does that mean Jared Fogle isn't a pedophile, he's just your everyday pervert who just happened to have thousands of images and videos of children on his computer? That's definitely not cool, but I can see him having that imagery just because he bought porn en masse, not because he's a pedophile. It's definitely pervy, and the case could be made that Reubens is a pedophile in a court of law. However, without further evidence, I think he's just a creep. Which is a surprise to no one. IMO, the biggest thing here is that Rob Lowe has a sex tape.
Anyway, I loved the old movies, so I'm still in for this.
