Deep into his 30th decade
As someone not from the US and never seen his show/movies(?) I would like ask one thing.

Has he always been a "always happy child" version of Mr. Bean like in this trailer?
I don't know about the comparison to Mr. Bean(I hate mr bean), but Pee Wee has always been sort of the child's fantasy of being a grown up. Crazy Playhouses, tons of toys, friends that will come over anytime you want, awesome bikes..

Always happy child seems like a good description.

I feel like every scene they show in this trailer after the Netflix logo could've been in Mr. Bean Tv show or movies but in a non-speaking fashion.

As a kid I asked my dad why he was arrested and he told me "for having his fly down in public" to scare me into making sure I always zipped up. I guess technically he was right.

the playground explanations were pretty hilarious back in the day. one kid told me he fell down a well and never came out and i believed that for years

Wait, explain to me how you can be found in possession of child porn and not be a pedophile. If that's your 'defense' for the case, then does that mean Jared Fogle isn't a pedophile, he's just your everyday pervert who just happened to have thousands of images and videos of children on his computer?

I don't know that Rubens had "child porn" per se. He apparently liked vintage pin-up/cheesecake style pornography and was a collector. He would buy large lots from other collectors. I think the "problematic" porn was even in a collection he had never even seen. I have a copy of the first Blind Faith album and a Beta of a Traci Lords movie around somewhere. That's CP, I guess. My father once bought a book of photos that Lewis Carroll took of nude children, because, holy shit Lewis Carroll took photos of nude children?! Is that pornography? My uncle-in-law collected those iconic statues of a cherubic pissing kid. I think all those are a far cry from Jared Fogle arranging to fuck underage girls and being part of a hardcore child pornography trading ring.

In November 2002, while filming David LaChapelle's video for Elton John's "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore", Reubens learned that police were at his home with a search warrant, acting on a tip from a witness in the pornography case against actor Jeffrey Jones,[67] finding among over 70,000 items of kitsch memorabilia, two grainy videotapes and dozens of photographs that the city attorney's office characterized as a collection of child pornography.[2] Kelly Bush, Reubens' personal representative at the time, said the description of the items was inaccurate and claimed the objects were "Rob Lowe's sex videotape, and a few 30- to 100-year-old kitsch collectible images."[68] Reubens turned himself in to the Hollywood division of the LAPD and was charged with possession of obscene material improperly depicting a child under the age of 18 in sexual conduct.[69] The District Attorney looked at Reubens' collection and computer and found no grounds for bringing any felony charges against him, while the city attorney, Rocky Delgadillo brought misdemeanor charges against Reubens on the last day allowed by the statute.[70] Reubens was represented by Hollywood criminal defense lawyer Blair Berk.[71] In December he pleaded not guilty through Berk, who also complained that the city attorney failed to turn over evidence to the defense, which City Attorney Richard Katz countered that prosecutors were not required to do until after arraignment, after which they did; neither side disclosed the contents.[72]
It states right there it was child pornography.

But that's okay, right, as he had a collection of legal porn alongside it.

I wouldn't classify the Rob Lowe sex tape as child pornography. Nor a Traci Lords movie. Nor the Blind Faith album cover. Nor Lewis Carrol's photographs. And I doubt the "30- to 100-year-old photos" are what a reasonable person considers when they hear "child pornography." I could be wrong, certainly, but you are accepting the city attorney's description at face value. Why would the District Attorney not bring federal charges?

Can't say I'm personally a fan of Netflix reviving rubbish from the 80s/90s - probably because I don't have the nostalgia for it, and this looks like Cat in the Hat level cringe (actually worse). But regardless, i'm super happy (and a wee bit confused) that so many seem excited for it! Love how Netflix continue to invest in new shows, as well as playing to everyone's nostalgia like this - bodes well for their global expansion.
