I missed the mini-series when it originally aired, but I'm still looking forward to the show. I just hope Sci-Fi plans on reairing the mini-series.

The mini-series is out on DVD on 12/28.

The series is airing every Monday night in the UK now. So just about the entire first season will have aired before it hits the US.

I'll be sure to pick it up, although it seems kind of weirf that they are releasing it that close after Christmas. I would think it would make more sense to release it a week earlier or just bump it to the new year.

Sounds good I really liked the look and gritty feel of the mini-series, even though the damn "zooom in" camera which initially was cool effect, started to wear on me. I'm looking forward to this series.

Watched it last night. Quite good.

It has its fair share of dark/tense moments (like in the mini series when the biodome girl got nuked)

The only thing I really hate, is the stupid CG crash zooms. I swear there were about 10 in the first 5 minutes. all that is simulating is a shit cameraman who doesn't know where he is supposed to be looking.

I also used it for my first ever Tivo extraction and popped it on a DVD for a friend. I'm gonna have a play and see if I can get it down in size to xvid or something, but thats all new to me.

At the end it said in association with Sky (it was on Sky One) - so did they cofund the production? I can't think of any other reason why it would premiere over here.

I just finished watching it and came away pretty impressed. It exceeded my expectations and I was expecting it to be good to begin with. It's just well designed and well paced. It really gives this good sense of tension and the fact that they are barely surviving with any day being possibly their last. I also really like the physics they're trying to use for the ships. Really good stuff. Watch it when you can.

I agree. I just saw it. Ron Moore was one of the best TNG writers ever, and he's in charge of the series. Looks like it's on the right track to being a very very good show for Sci-Fi.

The only problem for me is crowded schedules.

Sky are showing Stargate SG-1 season 8 and Stargate Atlantis season 1 back to back on Tuesday evenings, and Battlestar Galactica Monday evenings.

Almost too much scifi to watch and absorb

Good show, but I couldn't help thinking...

If the Cylons follow them every 33 mins, why don't they lay down a big nuke at the jump-in point and detonate it up the Basestars arse

just saw ep. 2 and I have to say that this is far and away the best sci fi show that i have seen in many years. The tension and storyline are incredible. ANd the production values just feel so freakin high. Everyone should be watchin this. It's easily available online....go get it.

They've given up that

the Oriental girl is a sleeper
very early, so I'm guessing they'll use that as the seven of nine character, fighting to become human? Which probably also means there is at least one other cylon on board. My money's on the chump thats the president's aide.

Finding out about this was the best TV series surprise of the year for me - and I found out about it the same day I found that Farscape miniseries was out, so it was like double the pleasant surprise :)

Anyway I loved the pilot, and the first two eps of series are continuing just as strong.

Cockles, good point - but the question is how/if they could pinpoint the location where to drop it.
And even if it was shown as possible, compared to all the times in StarTrek when teleporting a torpedo in the right place would end a fight, it's a really minor oversight :p

You mean Baltar? Heh, if they're following the original series to any significant degree, the probably have bigger plans for him. Or do you mean the one who 'doesn't know anything about girls'?

Heh. True. Yeah I remember watching the Borg episodes - always happy to let Starfleet beam across to their ships, so just beam in a torpedo into their warp core and hasta la vista Borg. But I'm sure Berman would have had a 'The Borg Shield nufflifies explosive materials from being beamed aboard' excuse.

Saw the 2nd episode of Galactica. Another great episode. For god sake Paramount, when you bring us another Trek series in the future give Ron Moore a call and boot out Bragga and Berman's sorry arses.

Lost & BS - two great new shows, we're not worthy!
