BTW, my Moto G works great with 1 GB of RAM.
Does it really? 1GB of ram is definitely not enough for Android these days and it's a much worse experience than having 1GB on iOS.
On my Moto G apps are constantly being flushed out of memory. When using Chrome having more than 2 tabs open will result in everything having to be reloaded. Other browsers like Firefox or Dolphin are more aggressive with caching but they always force the launcher to he dumped off memory and having to be reloaded. If I switch from the browser to whatsapp and then back to the browser everything will have to be reloaded. This is certainly not the case on ios devices with 1GB of ram.
It's not unstable but it's not a smooth experience. Even my iPhone 4 with 512MB of RAM didn't do that. The fact of the matter is, IOS has better memory management than android and can easily get away with having less memory, so the comparison is kind of moot (even though I think that the new iPhones should have had more RAM since the jump to 64 bit binaries also increased memory demands).
