not feeling this kong's design looks weak and juvenile compared to peter jackson's kong looks part monkey instead of full silverback gorilla. hope godzilla whoops it as$, but they're probably going to end up teaming up
I agree that Kong looked better in the 2005 movie. That design had more personality.

Since there's no official info coming in from Warner Bros, will have to resort to indirect sources (i.e. toys and figures)
So another Titan named Warbat

We ever getting a damn trailer? This was going to come out this year was it not?

Maybe even the May 2021 release might not happen after all.

"The film was delayed several times during production and was previously scheduled to be released on May 29, May 22, March 13, and November 20, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film was pushed to its current 2021 release, taking the release date initially intended for The Matrix 4."

Why am I being made to wait so long for this trailer

Because there's is a legal dispute between the distributor (Warner Bros) and the production studio (Legendary Pictures). Legendary financed 75% of the budgets for Dune and Godzilla vs. Kong - and is owned by Wanda Group, mind you.
So they filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros.
Warner Bros only put up 25%, while Legendary put up 75% and their deal. That is to say, not only do they pay Warner Bros a percentage to distribute the film but Warner recoups the marketing costs before Legendary Pictures see any money. Effectively Legendary could end up owing Warner Bros money to pay for a campaign that only benefits HBO's streaming marketing with a theatrical release that could see theaters giving Warner as little as 30% of the gross and Warner subtracting fees and overheads out of that first.

But I've seen a trailer for Dune!

Well the news of Warner Bros bringing their 2021 slate on HBO Max were announced in early December. And when this happened Legendary Pictures didn't like that at all. Thus the word around the campfire was they would file a lawsuit against Warner Bros.

Dune trailer dropped back on 3rd of September, though. So?

Nah but GvK is supposed to release earlier, we should have gotten it by now.

"As we first told you last month, Legendary and Warner Bros are poised to settle their fight over Godzilla vs. Kong, the fourth monster movie between the two which the former financed the $200 million-plus production at 75%, with the movie keeping its simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max release date May 21. Warners blocked a deal for Legendary to sell the Adam Wingard-directed Godzilla vs. Kong to Netflix for $225M, and sources confirm to Deadline that the production/financing company was set to argue in court that WarnerMedia was self-dealing in putting the movie straight on HBO Max.

Meanwhile, a settlement over whether Denis Villeneuve’s Dune goes theatrical and HBO Max day-and-date is still being hashed out between WarnerMedia and Legendary. That movie currently has a October 1 release date."

Since there's no trailer, and we're still horsing around, a new (and shitty quality) image found during the extended CCXP clip with Godzilla rising into either Hong Kong or Skull Island (via Reddit)

Or, there could be just one trailer prior to its release and that's it.

Let's see how they do the marketing. If they wanna focus on streaming aspects of the release (which they paid heavily for), then the trailer could be released a few days before the movie like the Netflix movies and shows but considering it has a theatrical release too, it might end up releasing sooner than typical streaming movies.

They need to release the trailer already. This movie and The Batman are my most anticipated of the year.

EDIT: I forgot The Batman is coming next year so it's just Godzilla vs Kong then.

The Sea has always been Godzilla's home. But yea I see your point. Imagine something as massive and destructive as Godzilla to be able to fuck off in the sea, never knowing when or where he will return.
Not to mention the hollow-earth fact proven in KotM so he could be literally anywhere at practically any time.

I have a feeling that that might be the case. They might release a proper trailer in March, and maybe prior to that we may be getting just a teaser trailer.
But, on the other hand, this should be interesting, because in this day and age of ours, people are forever complaining and whining about trailers revealing/spoiling too much.
Thusly, for a movie that you barely get to see a trailer prior to its release, means that you're actually going in cold to watch it.

This poster is dope. Found it at Luma Pictures' webpage (another VFX studio that has worked on Godzilla VS Kong)
