First PGR3 teaser image?

That would suggest to me that this is probably taken from the engine, as I doubt that would be there otherwise.

Hell, it could be half and half. To the right of that break could be from a render (it IS the closest, most detailed portion) with everything else in-engine.

oh come on now... thats stretching it, dont you think?

the simplist answer is usually the correct answer.

Maybe they've covered a logo or something...

Yeah, it's definitely a stretch. I'm just confused as to why they'd retouch it in such an odd way. Something about it strikes me as doing more than covering a logo.

Well... it has a X on it. Maybe the reflection shows the name of the system and its logo. That's a pretty damn good reason to cover it up, isn't it?

if it's a reflection then wouldn't whatever is being censored end with an 'x'?

Maybe it's not really a reflection, just superimposed. I'm guessing since they've shown bits and pieces of the controller on the site, that perhaps this is part of the front faceplate for the system. Perhaps the image is here just to throw everyone off from what they're trying to show, parts of the system, piece by piece. Just my wild conspiracey theory.

In-game graphics aren't as good as that in GT4. There's still a ways to go. Take this gen, add a ton of poly's, effects and AA and it will make a big difference.

Well, this pic is from a GT4 replay wich is in-game graphics.... the only possible difference is a slightly better resolution if it's a photo taken during a replay since the game re-renderer it at a higher res in this case. But since this pic quality is just ok, let me tell you that it's pretty much identical on my TV.

Anyhow, this red Ferrari pic CAN be in-game Xbox360 shot but you can be sure that's it also at the higher res possible - retouched or from the devkit with a resolution that won't be in the final game maybe. We are not yet at the game generation where you will copy-paste your 3D models directly into the game engine without any cheaping. This pic can look like a full render from X 3D software too. My guess is that it's in-game but the pic is "polished" (like most pics nowadays anyway) or it is at a higher res than the final game.

The way it's blatantly covered up in a pathetically bad photoshop attempt seems like they are purposely drawing attention to it, so it's probably superimposed. Besides Xbox starts and finishes with X anyway ;)

I think it is in-game and next gen will OWN our SOULS!! Man i wish i could have seen what VC could have done with this power and the gridiron...*cue Empire music*

DCX

Whats going on with the the big O on the body under the headlight, it almost looks like a fuel cap but thats not where the fuel cap is on the 360 (its at the back, where you'd expect)

Gofreak, at a guess maybe its the panel concealing the towbar hook. And I don't mean for a caravan or anything like that, but aplace to hook up is it breaks down. Most cars have them as far as I'm aware. Then again I maybe be talking utter bollocks as I do regular occasions.

lets ask another question. could the most powerful and most expensive video card out right now, which is undoubtedly more powerful than xbox, do something like that pic in real time if given to the right developer?

That's kindof a pointless question to ask because the Xbox 360 is more powerful than any computer right now (in terms of graphics atleast), so if the answer is no, then it doesn't really tell us anything.

we all know that pc and console even with same parts are not comparable

i mean the xbox is a cheap celeron and a gf3 and look at what it can do today, have you seen conker?

and if the answer is yes? See, suddenly its a possibly useful question.

I think you could do the car part on a modern PC graphics card, looking at things like the rusting car demo from a year or so ago. The crowd I'm not sure about - depends if its prerendered cutouts or not.

Seeing that once that is expanded to include 6 cars, trackside geometry, and moving at (crosses fingers) 60 fps, it looks considerably better than any tech demo I've seen, I'd think its reasonable to say modern computers couldn't handle it, then.

I remember seeing wreckless / double steel pictures a few years ago and laughing my ass off thinking "no way they'll convince me that's real time".
But it was, and it was in no way comparable to what was available on high end pc's back then.
I keep saying it, if the leap between current gen and next gen is anything like psone - ps2/cube/xbox we probably can barely conceive the kind of detail we'll see in games in the next 2 years.
