I just hope it is it's own show and not full of tie-ins to other shows, especially nothing Ahsoka related (though I highly suspect this will).

But he never really gave a shit about the expanded universe and with the new canon it doesn't really matter so I think they used Lucas idea for this show.

Maul's post Phantom menace story is fairly good and he should have never perished so early. Between the 3 audio books he features in, clone wars, rebels and his comics - they add a fair bit to his character. Plagiues novel deserves to be made into a Rogue one type movie for the prequels.

Unfortunately he is dead as of Rebels, he would have been a great character to use post Return of the Jedi as Lucas eventually wanted. But he should have never been a 1 and done movie character. The Rebels Maul ending is too well done to remove from canon.

Looking forward to this series, Sam usually nails it with Maul.

George Lucas tried to put Darth Talon in the cancelled Darth Maul game Lucasarts was making.

A friendly George Lucas entered the room and was eager to hear the pitch from Red Flys creatives. Before they could finish their spiel, Lucas cut them off, stood up, walked over to the statues, rotated them to be facing the same direction, pushed them together, and said Theyre friends! adds the source. He wanted these characters to be friends, and to play off of each other. He talked about the show Burn Notice as a reference point. He likened Darth Maul to Sonny from The Godfather, and he likened Darth Talon to Lauren Bacall. He actually did an impersonation of her. It was supposedly the weirdest impersonation of a 40s actress going, Dont you know how to whistle? Put your lips together and blow.

The problem with the idea of Maul and Talon teaming up for a buddy cop-like experience was that they were separated by over 170 years of Star Wars fiction as ridiculous of an idea as Frédéric Chopin forming a band with Dave Grohl. When this vast time divide was brought up to Lucas attention, he brushed off the notion of it not working, and said that it could instead be a descendant of Darth Maul or a clone of him.

Then in his version of Episode VII, Darth Talon was the one who seduced Ben Solo to the dark side.

Are these types of characters better the more we explain them? I watched "Predator Badlands" recently and I thought it was pretty good, but if anything it detracts from the earlier Predator movies. I don't know that I'm better off knowing more about the Predator culture and so on, I think the first movie is best where it's just a mystery villain and you have to guess or infer as much as you can from limited information. Your imagination does a better job than any official / canon explanation. I kind of wished "Predator Badlands" was just a stand-alone movie about some other alien race and kept the mystery alive. Same here - will knowing more about Darth Maul improve anything?
